Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie

As a sucker for the Jujutsu Kaisen series I wasn't really surprised with the fact that I enjoyed the movie as well.

Today I went to see the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie in my local cinema. I saw it with a couple of friends and we could all agree that the movie was very good. The subtitles were in my native language which made it a bit weird to watch since every anime I watch has English subtitles but it didn't ruin the movie. Also when there was an explanation for a time jump it wasn’t translated so that was quite confusing the first time ... it happened.

Overall it was a good story, it still is shounen so the story wasn't that difficult to understand. I liked the way how they ended the movie, I don't want to spoil the readers of this review so I won't go into the ending and story any deeper. (Story 8/10)

The art and animation were great in this movie, as usually studio MAPPA doesn't disappoint. As they did with the series the art and animation was outstanding. The fight scenes were amazing as they should be in an action movie. The background art made me feel like I was in a Makoto Shinkai movie from time to time. (Art 9/10)

The sound was used very well. The opening didn’t really feel like you typical anime opening which is normal since it was a movie, the ending was solid as well. The insert music in fight scenes were on point and really made it feel a lot more epic. It was a bit loud at times but again this was the fault of the cinema were I watched and not of the movie itself. (Sound 8/10)

I think characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are written pretty good, the mc is a nice new addition to a cast of already great characters. He shows a lot of development in the movie and it was nice to see his interactions with Panda, Zenin and Inumaki. Especially the interactions with Maki Zenin were great, from not being accepted in her family which we knew already in the series she developed to a person were new students can look up to. This was something I also noticed in the series with Yuji and Nobara showing their appreciation for her. For Yuuta I want to say that they did a very good job, I won’t go into it very deeper as it will reveal a part of the story. It was also nice to see some characters I didn’t expect. (Character 9/10)

I really enjoyed this movie the pacing was really good and it had some little gags which weren’t comedic masterworks but they made the movie extra enjoyable. As I said earlier I was a sucker for the series so I really enjoyed watching this movie, especially with friends as it was also my first time to see an anime movie in cinemas. (Enjoyment 9/10)

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was a movie with a high enjoyment, some amazing fight scenes and minor flaws. I was very lucky to be able to see this movie in my local cinemas with a group of friends. I liked Jujutsu Kaisen the series really hard an I thought this movie was equally enjoyable, because of this my overall rating is 9/10.

+ 1 for good ending.

Basically, this is just Demon Slayer. I came for Jujutsu Kaisen not Demon Slayer. It reminds me of when the marvel guy directed Justice League, and no matter your thoughts on the Snyder cut, the original felt very un-DCU

Scenes feel very disjointed. Like every scene was different people working on it without communicating with each other with no director to patch things up and make everything flow. The scenes individually were nice but I guess the director was just really bad at his job. No chemistry between characters. Characters themselves are fine and are acted ... well, but something about how they respond to each other doesn't work.

Typical convoluted and stupid villains doing random shit for no reason. Unlike in the main series, there isn't the one or two well written villains with actual motives behind their actions to distract you from the evil because evil that all the other villains are.

Gojo does equally convoluted and stupid super hero stuff, as you'd expect, but Gojo's cool enough to pull it off.

If you're a fan, you still gotta watch. If not for the action then because it's important for the main plot.

Jujutsu Kaisen (2020) anime was awesome, so I was definitely looking forward to the prequel movie.

STORY: 5/10
The story is very straight forward which is slightly disappointing. The main character, Yuta Okkotsu, is suicidal of the curse but can't kill himself. He gets taken into Jujutsu high school and learns to love himself. Also some bad guy is going to do bad things. That's pretty much it. There isn't anything that happens that is surprising.

ART: 8/10
The animation is awesome and definitely worthy of its movie production. The fight scenes are awesome to watch but I do think the choreography isn't as awesome as the TV series. ...

CHARACTERS: 6/10
The main character has a generic personality and the villain, Geto, has a genocidal plan because he evil. They don't spend enough time to explain why Geto is the way he is but this was probably done so they can do it in season 2. Every returning character such as Gojo, Mak and Pandai are as great as you remember them from the series.

MUSIC: 9/10
The soundtrack in this film is flipping awesome. The sombre song in the intro and the rock songs during the fights. They elevate every scene

OVERALL: 8/10
I enjoyed the movie and think it is a great addition to Jujutsu Kaisen. However, in terms of world building and actual plot development, I'm not sure it did much for the overall story. It could easily be skipping and nothing would be missed. Nevertheless, it's a great movie and fans should definitely watch it.

Well it was good , but i expected so much better and maybe that why i give a weak note , if i didnt have so many expectation , i will given maybe a better score , but i was hopping something wow and nothing happen , just explain of a story ... It didnt feel like a movie , or like an anime , just like a backstory that like it will be into anime to fill some minutes...
Dont judge me wrong, its just my opinion , the movie was good i suggest you watch it , but it could be a lot better ... at least from my vision.
The movie was exactly what descriptions it says , about a boy that have a curse and it ending it passing it/cure it...
They could use the blestem power but they didint , they said they cannot cure it , but it cure it using all power of it in 1 time ...
It was like feeling so wrong they could do a lot of better stuff , but they choose the worst one (from my vision) , maybe not the worst one , but a little bad one
Anyway they could manage to be different but they chose the "safe" way ..
I give a 7/10 and you cannot change my oppinion from it . Thats why i give a 7/10 it had potential but they ended up waste it .

IF you have NOT seen season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen or read the manga chapter 0.1-0.5, start there, it will make the movie better for me personally, you won't appreciate the characters who pop up throughout the movie without prior knowledge. If you are a jujutsu Kaisen fan it's definitely worth watching but given that it only covers the first half-chapter of the manga, there is no actual plot development here and even if you are theoretically supposed to watch the movie prior to watching the series, after watching, I feel that it wouldn't make sense and the characters would just feel random, weird timeline ... but here we go, let's start the review. The plot of the movie saw progression with Okkotsu and rika but the actual jujutsu Kaisen verse didn't see any new things which made the highly-captivating nature of the tv series kinda gone here and quite boring. This movie is essentially a romance but it wasn't really done all too well, like the female mc, rika gets like 5 lines, you have got to develop characters more bro, they should honestly stick to shonen, the whole war thing(not a spoiler you have no clue what I'm talking about dw) was very cheese and the tearjerker were annoying. I liked Yuta Okkotsu's backstory but they didn't really do a whole lot more with him apart from watching him train, apart from the final fight, he essentially stays the same character, just a more timid version of Yuji Itadori with the goal of saving his lover. I guess the appeal is that he finally finds a reason to exist and meaning in living after his tragic past and attempted suicide and the movie depicts him learning to love the world, you might like that but it didn't touch me a ton personally, it was nice but idk if it was truly touching. Back to the emotional scenes, they were really generic and typical and you got to trust me coming from a romance fan, I don't mind the typical tearjerker but they were too cheesy man. The one at the end was kinda nice and really well-animated but still annoyed me. There is a huge plot hole at the end I don't wanna spoil but you can probably figure it out, that also annoyed me. It still gets a 7 because it was still objectively an enjoyable watch due to the TOP TIER animation and a good soundtrack. Also, I personally think Gojo Satoru is a really well-designed character, yeah he is definitely OP but his dialogues, character design, and abilities are a big standout for me and I'm excited to see more of him in season 2. Interested to see if we see him and Yuji Itadori work together, they both have tons of plot armor and op abilities. TLDR: if you haven't read the manga or seen the show, don't watch and do that first, if you have, it's a nice watch. As always, thanks for reading if you made it, -nashy out

Overall, this was enjoyable to watch in the cinema, BUT BUT BUT, I really didn't enjoy the forced comedy. I really think that this movie could have went on a different path, a more dark and obscure one, more "bloody" and "gore". The story and the dialogue didn't do justice for the amazing sound/music on the background, but that's only my opinion. The villain story and his motives were also pretty meh with no background really to uphold it, or at least the movie didn't present them.
Coming back to the art, the animation and the overall visual effects, I think it was good, ... especially combined with the sound. But I cannot stress enough how the disappointed the dialogue and overall story was.

Conclusion: good but could have been a masterpiece if they went for a darker and obscure path with it.

Ok I review this movie merely based on my opinion, I have this high expectation towards this movie but as I watch it, it felt like something is missing. I said this as I have read the manga before the show. So basically I have an idea what's going to happen in the movie but the enjoyment seems like it's not fulfilling me as others say. But thanks to the studio for adding a scene where I would not see Nanami Kento doing some cool stunts in there, OMG he's SO HOT!! But the things is I want to give more marks for this movie ... but sorry I just can't fell the enjoyment 100%. The animation was superb also the OST from my fav BAND KING GNU!!

Saw this movie a while back and never really thought of writing a review. Got the PV on YouTube and thought of writing a review.

Story - 9/10, way better than the short manga, lots of added scenes which contribute to the story heavily. A good pacing which mostly wasn't that slow. My only complaints are that the protagonist's and his friendship with HER should've been explored more.
Art - 10/10, I don't think I need to go in-depth as to why.
Sound - 8/10, a banger intro which fits the movie's first half and a gloomy outro which suits the movie's ending.
Character - 10/10, ... the character's individual abilities were not rushed and the movie succeeds in making you sympathize for the them. The screen-time given to each of them were perfect for a 105 hr. long movie.
Enjoyment - 9/10, was never bored, kept me hooked.
Overall - 9/10, would recommend.

A prequel disguised as an Evangelion story. A lead that faces the most insurmountable odds, thrust into a strange new world with a dark past haunting above. Despite being the newbie in every sense of the word, the burden of being considered a "special-grade" is immediately tossed as a label. The power to destroy millions, endless chaos in the hands of someone unaware of the pure untapped potential they possess. The icing on the cake is that Shinji and Yuuta have the same VA (and she's fantastic).

A great introduction to the supporting cast of Jujutsu as ... well as the world itself. Could easily stand on it's own, but having an idea of who everyone is expected as it gives fan favorites a chance to have a scene or two of action. It looks exceptional with great fight choreography, also the sound is in a whole other league... don't recall it being on this level, but that's a movie theater experience for you. Deepens the emotions felt for the second-years and introduces a quality duo. Commentary on love is always something I'm down to see. The consequences it can bring along with all the joy, the pain of breaking a bond and realizing something is over (even if just for a time), etc.

Makes me want to rewatch the series and hyped for the next addition. Does its job very well.

Unlike most, this one actually kind of follows the three-act structure missing from most tie-in films, which results in pretty tight pacing. (Something of a rarity these days) It works as well as a prequal as it does an entry point into this series, arguments could honestly be made for both. The animation and music are unsurprisingly top-notch and the story does offer up some interesting new elements as well as plenty of familiar faces, some of which didn't get as much spotlight in the series as they do here. In fact, other then a certain ass-pull cursed technique used in the climax of the ... film, I haven't much to complain about.

I was already expecting top tier music, sound, and art, so these factors did not have much effect on my final rating of the movie.

I have not read the manga and am strictly an anime watcher for this series, so I had no clue what to expect story-wise. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised, especially for a shounen series. I felt that it really sets up the story for the main antagonist, and I now much better understand their motives. It also sets up an element of mystery and foreshadowing that is genuinely intriguing for Gojo. Plus, it was just great seeing more of ... Maki, Inumaki, and Panda.

What dropped this movie from a solid 9 or even a 10 down to a 7 for me was Yuta and his relationship with Rika. The entire movie is driven forward by this relationship, but it was treated with very little care. In my opinion, the movie would have benefitted greatly if the relationship between them was deepened, even slightly.

For example, rather than flashing back to the same scene multiple times at different points in the movie, each flashback could have been something brief that deepened the background between the two of them. Something that made you realize that their relationship was more than just two children innocently agreeing to marry one another.

Overall, the movie was enjoyable to watch; it does feel necessary to the story and is a good breather between seasons, but it stumbled when it honestly could have been great. Spoilers with more detail on why below.




(Spoilers) Especially at the end of the movie, when Rika is released from the curse, the relationship between her and Yuta seems so lackluster. The entire scene before sets this up to be amazing, but it ended up as a completely missed opportunity. Yuta doesn't budge an inch when he sees Rika in her true form again after all these years, and he seems to quickly come to terms with the fact that they are now going to be separated forever.

All of this makes the "love" he professed for her just minutes before seem so superficial and almost not even real, and knocks down the meaning behind his motives and the entire movie. I was honestly ready to have a heartfelt, fulfilling cry in the theaters, but I was left scratching my head with a dissatisfied taste in my mouth and an emptiness in my stomach.

Getting to see an anime movie in theaters here in America is really cool, especially when it's for one of my favorite anime. And I do mean that, not just speaking with recency bias. The main series has left an impression on me long after I finished watching it. I've started and have kept up with the manga which has really gone places since when season 1 ended. This prequel movie serves as a good bridge until season 2, as it features a lot of the cast who get their moments (Nanami) and hint at what will be explored later in the story. It arcs ... about as well as you can imagine for an anime movie with a start, middle, and end as Yuta comes to grips with his powers and gain better control over them while Geto, the main adversary, has his own "nothing personal, kid" reasons for going after Yuta that all just works well together. The same kind of tone and jokes are here, and the fight scenes have a great visual flair, from starting out with Maki to Geto.

It was a hell of a fun time and helps fill the void while season 2 gets made, but I do want to note that this was a prequel for some reason. Either Gege made this as a proof of concept that she (I'm just guessing that) could use later in the story and preferred Yuji, or just lacked some faith in making Yuta the main character even though she started the main story with him. The circumstances of Yuta's power is a little odd and I'm not as a big fan of his character as Yuji, Yuji fits the kind of story she wants to tell, or least introduce. I like Yuta, but he really comes into his own by his next appearance in the story, just my two cents.

Coming off the sheer beauty that was Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, while technically a prequel, had humongous shoes to fill. It seemingly had to clear the equivalent of a world record pole vault, and clear it, it did. Be it the animation, the story (adapted from the manga that actually preceded Jujutsu Kaisen), the new characters or the soundtrack - Every aspect of the movie was absolute brilliance. Working on a movie budget, the quality was only multiplied.

Gojo being racist was on full disp- nope, off topic.

Yuuta is an interesting character. His circumstances have definitely shaped how wimpy, or rather, scared for ... others, he initially is. Rika is his guardian... angel? I'm not sure. Whatever she is, clingy is all of them. It was definitely off putting just how obsessed Rika is with Yuuta, but the "not being able to accept her death" thing is actually good.

We have Gojo in a different eyepatch. Yeah, that's a significant fact for the fangirls (and the fanboys).

Inumaki, Maki, Panda and Geto are all brought back in this movie. Finally, we get to see some juicy Geto backstory, which makes him all the more dimensional. The movie handles its characters well enough for its entire run.

All in all, this is yet another, unsurprisingly, good MAPPA work.

I really loved the premise of the main character!! Some may say it's quite cliche' however I'm a sucker for scaredy cat losers gaining confidence and a sense of 'wait MAYBE I AM CAPABLE!!!!'
The story of how the MC came to be, is quite inspiring, as just love can bring us some sort of objective, even if accidentally.
To be self aware is quite the blessing in disguise.

The art was actually amazing, I per se am not a massive fan of the original series, however I love a good shounen from time to time, and this hit perfectly!
i LOVED the design of the curse.
The ... BGM was very atmospheric.

Definitely more recommended than the og series lmao {1st season at least imo}

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was a fantastic and phenomenal movie based on the spin-off manga by Gege Akutami; I loved the show and the characters. The prequel will focus on Yuta Okkotsu, a student with higher amounts of cursed energy more than Gojo Satoru himself. Yuta was appointed to Tokyo Jujutsu High School to learn how to control his abilities based on the trailer’s narration. He appears confused about whether he can use his powers to save or destroy people.

Introducing Yuta Okkostu was very majestic: the music, lighting, animations, shadows, color design, sound, etc. Yuta was assigned to his new classmates when he enrolled ... in the school, powerful Jujutsu sorcerers Maki Zen'in, Panda, and Toge Inumaki. The main character for the series, Yuji Itadori, was introduced one year after this prequel. Yuta was a nervous and timid child because his character was based on Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion in 1997. Yuta would train hard and strong to break his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, who was cursed when she died from a sudden car accident. Rika's cursed spirit was latched onto Yuta for years. Gojo Satoru found Yuta after Rika's cursed spirit stuffed and severely injured bullies into a locker. Yuta tried to take his own life before, but the cursed spirit Rika Orimoto wouldn't let him.

The movie was a 10 out of 10, but I read Irino Miyu (Haku's VA spirited away, Shoya Ishida) voicing Yuta Okkostu; it was appointed his voice for Yuta. I was extremely hyped for him being Yuta, and then MAPPA changed to Shinji's voice (I’m not mad at Megumi Ogata; I love her; she is one of the best VAs in the industry), but I expected Miyu Irino to voice Yuta or someone maybe like Yuki Kaji (Eren Jaeger's VA). Still, MAPPA changed it, all because Shinji inspired the creator of Yuta, and Irino and Kaji have worked with Gojo’s VA before. it was perfect, all planned out (again, I love Megumi Ogata.) I read the manga with Miyu Irino's voice because he can project the voice the creator wants for Yuta. The creator of JJK wants something non-masculine nor feminine voice for Yuta. It was stated in the manga that Miyu Irino would voice Yuta, but MAPPA changed it to Shinji’s voice, which I don’t think fits well. Megumi Ogata did an excellent job, but Miyu can make him sound more like a teenage boy. If you're a Shinji fan, you'll love this movie.

The soundtracks for the music were incredible and well thought out. The story's villain, Suguru Getou, was planning to steal Yuta's childhood friend's cursed spirit. Yuta was gaining friends to gain confidence and establish the goal to help set Rika free. Yuta was appointed on his first task with Maki. They met at an elementary school, and Gojo set up a veil that kept cursed spirits from escaping the area. Maki shows her skills, and Yuta is impressed by her strength. Eventually, they get caught by a huge cursed spirit and fall into its mouth. The cursed spirit later infects Maki, and then she faints.

Gojo said that there were two kids missing and found in the cursed spirit stomach where Yuta and Maki were located. One of the boys was infected by the cursed spirit. Suddenly, Maki awakens and calls Yuta out for being a moody kid who's lived his entire life without goals. He acknowledged that this was true and used her advice to gain a resolve to be a jujutsu sorcerer. This helps Yuta realize that deep down, he truly desires the confidence to feel like he belongs. He wants to become someone who can help keep others out of danger. He begins to gain the confidence to feel alive. Yuta says, "I want to believe that it's okay to keep living." Yuta calls out to Rika, and she slaughters the cursed spirit from the inside out. Yuta carries Maki and the two boys to safety while Rika diminishes the cursed spirit. At the hospital, he states to Satoru Gojo that he was the one who cursed Rika and didn't believe that she was dead and was feeling heavily negative, which creates cursed spirits. He proudly says he wants to continue as a Jujutsu sorcerer to break Rika's curse. He continues to train as a sorcerer within the institution.

In the end, there was an epic battle scene where the villain Geto and Yuta verse each other because Geto severely injured Yuta's friends. Yuta is enraged and calls out to Rika (I expected the "Come out, Rika" line to be more prolonged), and all of them battle. When Geto summons a powerful curse spirit, Yuta proclaims his love to Rika, which excites her and delivers a final blow to Geto. Yuta was knocked out and his friends were over him checking to see if he was all right. Yuta sees Rika and tells his friends that he promises to go with Rika forever and leave. Rika's soul was shown as her human body was revealed, and she thanked Yuta for everything he's done for her. She hugged him and Rika's soul finally moves on, and the story for Yuta Okkostu was finished. Yuta was appointed in Africa with another Jujutsu sorcerer to train named Miguel which Gojo sparred with in the movie. The next time we see Yuta will be after the Shibuya arc.

The film is produced by MAPPA and directed by Sunghoo Park. Park wanted to be careful to give an appropriate facial expression to each character when fighting. The movie's animators could draw more expansive scenery and backgrounds beautifully. They felt satisfied that they could create the world of the franchise for the audience. Gege Akutami envisioned the character as neutral, soft, and kind, which Miyu could've voiced appointed by Gege, but the director chose Megumi Ogata instead (no hate to her).

Overall, The enjoyment of the movie was great, and the meaning of a kid who wants to help people and stay with his friends who believe that he is alive is an excellent motive to keep on going in life.

I liked this movie but at the same time I'm grateful that I waited until it hit streaming to watch it rather than spend $10+ on a movie ticket for it, though it was not a bad movie. I liked Yuuta and his character journey from meek straw in the wind to someone who can lead. It was also nice to get to see Maki, Panda, and Inumaki get to have larger roles as well. I liked having Getou as the main villain. The action sequences were good and I liked the designs of the curses. However, there were times in which the movie felt ... less like a theatrical release and more like an OVA or ONA gaiden despite the quality of animation. It kind of wanted to meander in the first half and even at times in the second half. Though it wasn't a bad kind of meandering, but it was surprising.

I think that if you liked the first season of the anime and don't mind a movie that wants to linger in places, then you'll probably like this movie too. I thought the ending was good and fit well with the story the movie was trying to tell. You'll also want to either let the credits play or fast forward to the end of the credits to see the bonus scene. Luckily I figured there would be one so I didn't miss out on it.

... wished they cut it down to 45 minutes instead of stretching it to an hour and 30 minutes.

this pretty much it wait for a streaming don't waste your money to watch it in the theaters.

When I went to what the movie at the Theatre I was watching it with a reviewer mindset, so it didn't make me like the movie that much, plus I somewhat dislike
Shounen anime.

Animation-(9) Great
I liked how the movie has an how the animation is a level higher than the anime,
the last fight against villain was pretty breath taking, it had an dark tint to make it feel like a movie For example-
Tamako Love Story
... Koe no Katachi

Story/Enjoyment-(8) Very Good
I kind of liked it lowkey like how the mc wants to protect, stay with his friends and loved one. But I only remember some of the jokes.

Characters-(7) Good
Personally the only problem I have with this movie this one character Rika Orimoto,
So when she's introduced her, I hear her voice I'm like that's Kana Hanazawa, like the weirdo I am. I thought that her voice didn't fit with her character. I thought her voice was too energetic, because she and the mc where friends at the same hospital.
At the end of the movie I was kind of disappointed because when something happened
to her. I know it wasn't supposed to be an sad ending, it's supposed to be an an dark Shounen with big fight scenes. I would of like it more if Rika Orimoto had more screen time because she only had 15-25 mins of screen time, all you know is that she is in love with the mc, at the end ''something'' happens to her it. would of been better if she had more screen time and to get to know her better so when the ''something'' happens to her in the end it would've been more sad and memorable.

And I think Yuuta Okkotsu the mc would of been a better character because if Rika Orimoto had more screen time and get to know her better then when the ''thing'' happens in the end, you know why he feels so emotionally attached a towards her.

Nothing short of outstanding. I went into this movie having read reviews calling it a 6/10, so was expecting a very average experience and nothing to write home about. I'm happy to say my expectations were blown out of the water.

The story is engaging from the start, pacing is absolutely spot on, and builds up very well to multiple fantastic action sequences towards the end.

The new characters introduced have plenty of development and are likeable very early on, and fan favourite characters have both backstory development and kickass fights.

Do yourself a favour and go watch this one, you won't regret it.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 feels extremely rushed. The movie, although spectacular visually, has a severe pacing issue where certain scenes felt too fast while others felt too dragged on. Characters that served zero purpose in the movie were constantly phasing in and out of scenes taking up time that could've been spent on fleshing out the characters more.

Story-wise, the origin story of Yuta and the main conflict between Gojo and Geto have their moments. Yuta's story introduction managed to hold my interest well up until Gojo began his monologue to Yuta. Although it made sense, Gojo's entire speech to Yuta just felt very bland. Regardless, ... Yuta's story had me interested. How it was handled was very disappointing.

The movie very quickly shows its flaws the more it goes on. Certain training montages are spliced with poorly timed comedic scenes that feel jarring at best. Cut-in comedic moments plague many scenes in the movie that end up ruining the pacing of the story for the brief moments that they're included. Mainly, it was Gojo and Panda that were the two biggest offenders of the movie for comedy. For a movie with a more serious, darker tone, the comedy really ends up messing with the story.

The problems with pacing don't end with comedy, however. The plot-significant scenes of the story felt oddly paced at times, where the movie would jump between scene after scene in Yuta's gradual development from zero to hero. What made it worse was during the second half of the movie, where these gaps in time were much more apparent. Sure, they don't necessarily have enough time to flesh things out (it is a movie, after all), but had they used more time in scenes developing the cast rather than comedic cut-ins, then more time could've been allocated to helping the characters.

Another issue arises in the second half as well. During the final climax, we are constantly swapping perspectives between the main fight and a bunch of unnecessary fights that serve to drag on the movie. These scenes end up dragging on the movie and could've been cut for more important scenes. Instead, we are left swapping between low-stakes filler fights and a serious, high-stakes fight that would determine the fate of the world. As a result, both fights are less impactful, and the main climax feels less significant.

Animation-wise, this movie was great. The fights, for example, even if they were mostly not needed, were very well choreographed and animated near perfectly. I have no complaints there. The sound was also great, but some scenes lacked impact due to poor sound choices, such as when an insert song would cut the audio of a large attack. Regardless, the sound and sights you will see during this movie are most definitely the highlights.

In short, JJK 0 is a visually great movie with good sound. Unfortunately, the story and characters are its shortcomings, as the pacing, tone, and characters are all over the place. This movie felt overall rushed, which concerns me for future MAPPA products as it seems that they really have not learned their lesson.
