New Interest Stack
Interest StacksReleases which draw in meaningful ways from the named esoteric Hellenic spiritual tradition in their symbolism, themes, or both (Alchemy, Kabbalah, etc.). Most elements from the practice are fairly perennial in their implementation, and this is something up to interpretation, so I've tried to be strict without relying on explicit references. Excellent shows and movies that, despite being well-rated, got pushed far below the surface and are no longer easily visible to those who don't dive deeper into the medium. the plot/situations the protagonists get into can get from trying to understand death in a safe enviroment to being a literal child soldier. it's difficult to describe what these series have in common on a short sentence or description but the vibes are veeeeeery similar. please recommend more series like this if you can :^) Some of these are questionable, like Suisei no Gargantia can be argued to be fully sci-fi, but there is a feel to it that makes me include it, along with organic and archaic elements that are woven together in a way that makes this appear more fantastical than your average sci-fi. Similarly, Gankutsuou is sci-fi with advanced technology, but it's futuristic imagery is conceptualized to cohere with the elegant 19th century setting of Dumas' novel. I'm also avoiding the inclusion of more than one entry per series, so if season 1 is on here, then season 2 likely fits just as much. A stack dedicated to a certain kind of tragic, elegic anime that makes you mourn for a time you didn't exist or a place you've never been to. anime that westerners will love but will never watch cause theyre all idiots and dont actually care about wanting to watch good shit, only the new shiny thing and drama |
