Both anime involve characters who get transported into illusionary worlds and use magic to fight. While they start out cutesy, the shows have plot twists and get much darker as they progress. They both have characters who are magical girls, but Granbelm also includes mechs. Also, they both share the same theme of getting a wish granted

Both anime involve girls with magical powers (and in Granbelm, mechs too) who fight against each other to be the winner of a competition. They also both get progressively darker. They both have action, however, Magical Girl Raising Project has a lot more blood and gore

Like in Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight, there is a competition in Granbelm with high stakes, a mystical reward, and dramatic battles. Themes in both series include self-acceptance and self-expression. Also, both are anime-original stories, and the dynamic between Mangetsu and Shingetsu reminds me of Aijou and Kagura.

Both anime feature girls who get transported to another world and fight with magical powers and mechs. They also both have major plot twists. However, Granbelm is a battle royale, while Magic Knight Rayearth is a fantasy adventure

Same director and same character designer, for those like me who enjoyed the art part of the anime.

Do you like magical girls, but absolutely love giant mech fights? Do you prefer your battle waifs with a little bit of drama? Both these shows have got you covered. Aside from the visual similarities between our two lead characters, both shows also have yuri-undertones and dramatic character beats.

- using mecha surface to make character driven show about their internal struggles - main characters face similar developement, to not spoil that much - both were passion projects with throwback to mecha classics of the past

Granbelm and Yuki Yuna is a Hero are two magical girl shows that feature a main character with pink hair who gets transported to a parallel world and learns that she has magical powers along with a group of other girls. Both shows have action scenes that take place on the aforementioned parallel world.

Being a love letter to classic 2D animated mecha, it's no surprise that Granbelm takes some inspirations from Zeta. While it lacks the military aspect, both have a fairly somber tone and feature cunning, manipulative villains whose true colors come to the forefront in the second half. Oh and Kamille's seiyuu does the next episode previews for Granbelm too.

The similarities between these two series are specifically in regards to Shingetsu, and VOTOMS' MC Chirico. Shingetsu's personal journey and status in the Granbelm competition is very similar to how Chirico's is during the war. The similarities between the two characters goes beyond their stoic attitudes and general character growth progression, as both series have a pretty identical, spoilery reveal regarding them at towards the end of the series

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha and Granbelm are both magical girl shows, so, as one would expect, they have a number of similarities corresponding to the sub-genre. That being said, I've paired these specific shows together not only because interpersonal combat is given a lot of emphasis in both, but the protagonist of Granbelm and the deuteragonist of Nanoha both go through similar arcs relating to identity. So, if you enjoyed those aspects in one show, the other could be worth checking out.

Because this film tells about the war that was held on a certain event and leaving only one person from the war

Both are Mecha series where the main character is thrust into being a pilot and having to defeat numerous other similar mechas. The action in both shows is beautifully drawn and animated, and while their plots mostly serve to link the battles together, they both feature stories that lead the MC to question their own reason for existence and why they even fight.

- Magical battle royale; - Mystical atmosphere; - Dolls; - Trying to reach out to the higher being; - Themes of manipulation and free will; - Themes of perfection, flawedness and all-consuming envy; - Nightly, but not grim; dramatic, but not dark. This applies not only to Traumend, but to the whole Rozen Maiden story.

While the plots are different, both Granbelm and Gurren Lagann feature mech action with big, flashy attacks

Granbelm and Mai-HiME showcase girls who fight using magic and mech powers. As both shows progress, they get darker, have plot twists, and share even more similarities

Both anime have intense action involving girls who fight using big, flashy attacks. They also share ideas from mecha and magical girl shows

Both anime include competitions between special girls who are trying to win and get their wish granted. They also both get darker and have plot twists as they progress. However, the plots and circumstances of the competition are very different, as Wixoss is a card game show, while Granbelm is a mecha/magical girl battle royale show

Evangelion and Granbelm both envolve young characters where they have to pilot a robot and fight, while resolve their personal conflicts. Both of their main characters have a inner conflict with themselves about they own persona.

What purpose does magic serve? Will it make us happy? Will our wishes really be fulfilled, and if so, why must it come at the cost the dreams of other girls just like us? Both series tackle this question in similar ways. Aside from the optimistic newcomer with short pink hair and the relationship she has with the serious girl with long dark hair, both shows are about abolition and self-sacrifice. If you're into seeing people pushed to the breaking point in order to achieve their personal goals, this show has you covered as well.
