- Both have a similar historical setting of european countries - Magic is present in both worlds - MCs have to solve various mysteries

This follows the character Velvet Waver, it takes place after Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night, if you like the world building within the Nasuverse then I highly reccomend it, it has more of a focus on solving mysteries rather then the death match between Magi's and their servants so if you're an anime only I wouldn't watch it until you've gotten a bit more into the Nasuverse.

both stories have similar content reminiscent of the past with magic schools or adventures involving magic.

-Both have an old british vibe -The soundtrack is kinda similar -Both have magic, although vanitas seems to be more focused on vampire where el melloi is towards other magic stuff (other creatures and problems) -Both mc are detectives investigating magical cases

These anime both deal with detective work in a world where magic exists. While in Bungou Stray Dogs this magic is more like a superpower the characters have, in Lord El Melloi magic is dealt more traditionally (with gems, and book and people shooting magic out of their hands etc.) Secondly the main character of BSD is a gray haired "magical" guy with no family and a traumatic past, and in LEM a supporting but just as important character is a gray haired "magical" girl with no family and a traumatic past, both supported by an older dark haired kind of mentor who takes them in. Both series incorporate historically-based settings and clothing, although Moriarty is actually set in a historical period whereas El-Melloi II isn't. The plot of both revolve around upper class characters solving mysteries and both of the main characters are occupationally teachers who uptook "unofficial" nobility positions.

Both top tier Mei-Tante anime, with character depth

A magic school in London, a calm of manner teacher and students of this teacher who you get to know. Said teacher also has a close apprentice who has something special about her. The tone of the stories is a little different - I'd say Mahoutsukai no Yome season 2 has a coming-of-age kind of feeling, with its focus on Chise and her new classmates, while Lord El-Melloi II is more about unsolving mysteries -, but some may be able fill the void they are feeling after finishing one with the other.

Lord El-Melloi and Rokka no Yuusha are mystery series within a fantasy setting. Viewers who enjoyed one series will understand not to expect an action fantasy series as a synopsis may lead to the wrong expectation. Lord El-Melloi is part of the Fate franchise, which is known for its battle royal narrative. Rokka no Yuusha is set up as a series about heroes going to battle against an evil force. In both cases, the anime will subvert your expectation because these are not important (or even existing) aspects to their narratives. They are instead whodunit mysteries with action sequences as fan service.

Murder, mystery, and suspense are basic elements for many paranormal investigation anime, but Kara no Kyoukai and Lord El-Melloi also provides a heavier dose of action and supernatural fantasy. Kara no Kyoukai is a film series that is best viewed in chronological order rather than release order. Its mysteries are generally in-universe rather than for viewers. Lord El-Melloi has whodunit mysteries for those who like to guess the outcome.

Lord El-Melloi II and Astra Lost in Space are whodunit mystery series using their fantasy and sci-fi settings to draw viewers into their stories. Lord El-Melloi II contains various investigations into magical mysteries. While it contains some Fate action sequences, this aspect is secondary to the mystery. Astra Lost in Space contains two mysteries related to the main characters being lost in space. It successfully balances character survival and resolving the mystery. Both anime should satisfy anyone who enjoys mysteries with a little something extra.

In both series the main characters are solving supernatural mysteries. The tone is quite similar.

Witch Hunter Robin and Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files are series centered on paranormal investigations with episodic and long format mysteries/cases. The series also share a preference for having a dark atmosphere and some action sequences to keep things exciting. Although Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files is related to the Fate franchise, you do not need to be familiar with the other series, but it does help to understand the backstory of the main character. Witch Hunter Robin is an older series so the animation might not hold up for some viewers. That being said, Witch Hunter Robin and Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files should  read more
