Ah, Kenji Kamiyama. Your work since GitS:SAC season 1 has yet to fail to disappoint me.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is the latest Kamiyama-directed title I have reviewed here on MyAnimeList, following Eden of the East, GitS:SAC 2nd GIG, and GitS:SAC – SSS in exactly that order. At the end of my Solid State Society review, I said I would make the smarter decision and avoid GitS:SAC_2045 based purely on my past experience with the directors’ work. The Blade Runner films being personal favorites of mine apparently superseded my better judgment, however, when it came to Kamiyama’s second outing as the frontrunner for a CGI anime read more

Blade Runner: Black Lotus has seemingly slipped under everyone's radar, hardly advertised and almost completely forgotten about after its announcement and subsequent airing, as for those who have seen it, I've hardly seen anything remotely positive about it.

A poor spin-off with very generic characters and complete predictable plot. Skippable even to the most hardcore fans of the franchise.

The art kinda aims at realism using individual eyelashes and even drawing that meaty thing at the corner of the eye, and I couldn't help to compare it to Final Fantasy Spirits Within that came 20 years before but is waaay ahead when it comes to CGI quality... we are looking at very PS2 graphics here and I have no idea if it was poor budget or weird choice.

One thing they invested is in the soundtrack, all original score for each episode, even though the read more

I waited until this anime had finished before making judgement and I must say that it's very existence is spitting on the hallowed ground on which the original series of movies stands on. You can tell how cheap the animation is, or at least how uninspired.

It seems like the story and characters were a valiant attempt in the writing room, but to no avail. It's just the stories of the original, but with no depth and twists at all.

This is a grueling watch and I would not recommend it since it as slow and uninteresting as watching paint dry. I wish this didn't exist. However read more
