Preliminary (4/11 eps)
Anime community: We need something new!
Anime industry: *Gives something new*
Anime Community: Ugh! What the fuck is that. Kill it with fire.

Imagine the worst anime you have ever seen. Now imagine the worst live action you have ever seen. What would happen if you combined those two "worst evers" together? Dimension High School.

Let's start with a back story.

There seems to be some type of movements started in April 2018 in Shibuya when the very first "4D anime" was introduced. What "4D anime" is according to Japan, is the act of mixing 2D characters together with real humans. 2D + 3D = 4D! Nerds hate them! ...

Literally perfection.

How could they animate out of the 2.x dimension so well?

The character story arcs are a nice addition to what is already a masterful Professor Layton esque experience.

The only people who are rating this under a ten would get eaten by the Sphinx immediately and you can take that right to the bank.

Objectively, this show is fun. You can clearly see in the actors faces just how much fun this would have been to film. This is shown very easily with the gardener duo.

Although this review has been made as of episode 7. I truly feel that the show will not change ...

Just when you thought anime couldn't surprise you any longer...

I reckon this show will mostly receive meme and troll reviews but I'll try to do this seriously. I've seen a lot of anime over the years, but nothing quite like Dimension High School. This is so far the only show I've ever seen which is basically 50% (CGI) anime and 50% live action. While I have seen live action segments occasionally in anime before, it's never been to the extent which it is here, and never done as a major plot point by itself.

Most likely DHS was intended to be some sort of meta take ...

This show falls under the category "it's so bad it's good". It's very cheesy and obviously low-budget, and there are some areas where it looks like the writing doesn't really line up with the show (for example, what is supposed to be a "2D anime word" is really 3D CGI that looks like it was recorded from VRChat or something similar); however, this is pretty easy to look past, as it's at least obvious what the intent was.

Each character is easily distinguishable, and each one is likable (although, some, like the teacher and Ryuusei, are not *as* much). The actors do a really great job ...

I know the creators gave 0 fucks making this but I can't praise garbage for being self-aware garbage! Well, fuck it, this review is going to be similar to the anime I'm reviewing: effortless, stale and full of shit with 0 fucks given ;)

Art(I guess)/Sound:
Anime IRL? Wtf? Can we even consider this an anime, the creators must be geniuses, they broke the fucking code lmao, real people being weebs that soon are transported to a VRChat terribly animated glitchy isekai world. Also, the OP is fairly shit and everything else soundwise is mediocre, but what did I expect in the first place? The art gets ...

A lot of people would probably be put off before they’ve even started watching this, after all, half of it is live action. My first impression of this show from the first episode was honestly really good. Such is the privilege of a really quirky (and frankly ridiculous) premise and all the unique jokes you can come up with in said setting. I came away from that first episode thinking that that was the high point and there could be nothing more the show could provide. I’m glad to say that I was proven wrong, in fact multiple times.

So in case the synopsis is still ...

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, best anime since cory in the house. Truly I am mesmerized, completely entrapped in the beauty that is this absolut masterpiece. I don't think I would recommend any other anime more than this one.

It's versatile, for the family, it has amazing graphics, and it's good for any occasion. You can watch it at a birthday party, a wedding, a funeral, an orgy, at anything, anywhere, and anytime. Personally I enjoy watching this while torturing orphans in my basement, the screams really compliment it well.

MyAnimeList forgot to tag this anime as a comedy, and I think that's why it's rated so lowly.

It's a comedy. Very clearly a comedy. And I think that, because the writing is kind of wonky, some watchers think that it's being serious and rate it an absolutely devastating score. Which is sad, because this anime is full of shits and giggles.

On top of the jokes and shit, the storyline is actually kind of interesting in a what-the-fuck kind of way. Characters are likeable and easily distinguished from one another, but probably because it's mostly live-action.

All-in-all, you should try it out, and look at it as ...

Honestly, I love this so much!

Almost every part of it reaches so bad it's good territory: The dialogue, the acting, the camerawork, the animation, the cheesy backstories... I could go on.

(minor spoilers in this paragraph, I guess?)
My favourite parts are the ends of the episodes, when somethig gets "taken away" from them. The teacher jumping on the table and screaming had me cracking up so hard! Also, I was legitimately invested the blue and yellow guys' story, not gonna lie xd (I totally ship them)

If you know a bit of Japanese, trying to solve the riddles is also pretty fun, and I just know that ...
