I could say a lot about this franchise, but I'm just going to discuss about this season.
Gintama.: Shirogane no Tamashii-hen adapts the first part of the Silver Soul arc, the end game of Gintama. So if you haven't watched anything related to Gintama yet, this season will not be for you.
Silver Soul continues the story after the Rakuyou's Decisive Battle Arc (Gintama.).
All the build-up done in the past it's now coming to it's climax, we see a lot of early plot elements and characters come back, and becoming relevant once again.
This arc has a lot of action, sad and fun moments blended together without
altering the pacing or the story itself. It's great.
The art has been mostly consisent, but there are some still frames that doesn't look so good. Nevertheless, the backgrounds and characters design look good.
The animation is good, but not amazing. It's understandable though, since this arc is realy action-heavy.
There are some new tracks, but it mostly uses the good ol' soundtrack from past seasons, which is good.
The opening 'Katte ni MY SOUL' and ending 'Hana Ichi Monme' are catchy, and blend well with the current mood of the series.
Remember how I said the build-up was coming to it's climax in regard of the story?
The characters are the best thing in the series, in Silver Soul, this is no exception. This arc features a lot of characters from past arcs and it's done in a really well and realistic way.
All characters have their moment to shine, and this is incredibile rewarding for everyone that watched the series since the very beginning.
Silver Soul continues using the formula of past seasons. There are new gags, while some older ones return.
While sometimes the comedy may be a little "too japanized", it's still understandable.
This is arc is the most 'Gintamesque' arc of the series, and while it's not finished yet, the first part of Silver Soul is amazing for every fan that has watched the past seasons, and this is why I love it so damn much. I feel rewarded for watching the series since the beginning.
Gintama is an anime franchise with several seasons end more of 350 episodes. This season follow the events Shogun Assassination Arc, Farewell, Shinsengumi Arc and Rakuyou Decisive Battle Arc, adapting the Silver Soul Arc.
Silver Soul is Gintama arc. The representation that what Gintama is. This seasons shows your goal since the first episode: The blend of comedy and action that represents Gintama. And this is the strong point of this season!
This arc follow Utsuro plot, adding some facts extras that make a more complex development of the events of the war. Enshou wants to destroy the earth because your fury. Utsuro want to destroy
he and all, because he is sick of living, but at the same time is sick of human existence. And our protagonists want protect what they love, those they love and the place they love.
Better than last two seasons, this seasons animation has some problems, but this doesn't change the fact that most of the time the animation is good. The art is more consistent and fights was very good.
Nothing to complain about. This season has the same OST of past seasons. Great.
Several old characters return in this season, this fact creates a nostalgic feeling. Many characters has a great development, as Hata, Elizabeth, Gintoki, Tama, Kintoki, Nobume and mainly NobuNobu, that is becoming increasingly a better character.
Gintama is my favorite show. This anime always shows that because is loved for several. Was a very funny season with great characters, good action and story. I hope the same in the Part 2.
Well, it’s the beginning of the end. The real end, the one we never expected after all the hoaxes and fakes but knew nonetheless would have to come eventually.
12 episodes of pure awesomeness. You can tell that watching all 350+ episodes has really paid off when even the appearance of minor characters is enough to make you smile or shout joyfully at the screen. (Or groan loudly as you hope that this is the arc they’ll finally be killed off.)
Gintama seems determined to bring back every single character who’s ever been featured. You’ll see people who you’ve almost completely forgotten about back to help
save Edo, make dramatic speeches about friendship, discover Elizabeth’s real identity (…again), and get more screen-time while they’re at it! (but they don’t waste flashbacks on the minor characters, don’t worry 😉)
It has a more serious undertone than the slip arc, but not quite the same level as the Shogun assassination and farewell Shinsengumi arcs. There’s this whole ‘the entire universe is against us and we literally have no hope of winning but let’s try anyway’ emotional and touching tone, and then there’s the ‘here’s an entire episode based around a poop joke’ type of humour. (Which, by the way, was brilliantly executed and downright hilarious.) The level of contrast is one of the most famous things about Gintama. It’s probably the reason you loved Gintama in the first place, and the reason you’ve stuck with it so long.
Fair warning though: The baka prince episode was painful to watch, even by Gintama standards. Far too many *antenna* jokes that although would normally be funny just seemed immature this time. It’s almost like an extension of the Excalibur arc - but then again, it’s only one episode. I wouldn’t skip it or anything, just…prepare your mind.
The op is good (as most of them are), but it’s the ending you really need to watch this time. It’s basically a montage of all the brightest and saddest moments throughout the anime, a tribute to all those who were with us at the beginning and didn’t make it this far. Plus the song is awesome. It really gives a ‘final arc’ feel.
I am looking forward to the conclusion, and really excited to see everything come to a climax, but at the same time…I don’t want it to be over. At least we have part 2 before that fateful moment. XD
P.S. Unless this does end up being another troll after all. Who ever really knows with Sorachi?
