Synopsis

A lazy pig Tonpei steals food from the monkeys Sarukichi and assaults some of them. After getting beat up, the pig talks to the lion king and lies to him about what happened. The lion comes to put the monkeys back into place and an all out war starts with tanks, guns, and airplanes.

Story
In childhood up to adulthood we all have cases of events that are problematic. Which is normally fine until they progress into bigger problems. While the anime attempts to deliver a kind remark of justice i wonder if they could have done a better job. For example there are two main forms of justice vengeance. There is the blood thirsty eye for an eye approach. On the other hand there is the passive approach of ying and yang. Which means karma with come in at some point to restore the balance. Tonpei to Sarukichi is a trainwreck of the most beautiful kind. Sure, it's old and janky, characters float in and out of the story at random, the show's plot points happen nigh on randomly, and it's overall pretty incomprehensible, but it has a sort of archaic charm to it reminiscent of the old Walt Disney cartoons. You feel like the creators were really trying their hardest to make a fun story with a good message for the kiddies. They failed...dismally...but gosh darn it, they tried! It has cute characters, decent animation for its time period, and some semblance of a plot. Even if it is ...
