Synopsis

Once upon a time, there was a lord in Shinano Province who hated old men. In accordance with the rules of the province, a person was exiled to an island when they turned 60 years old. On the night of August 15th, there was one such farmer woman, but her son loved her, and took her to a mountain to leave her there instead of turning her over to the cruel officers. However, he felt sorry about what he was doing and hid her under the earthen floor of a barn. One day, a messenger of the lord of the neighboring province was sent to the lord of Shinano Province making an unreasonable demand that a silk thread be threaded through a winding hole in a crystal ball and threatened that force would be used unless the task was done. The devoted son consulted with his mother, and she taught him a method in which you put honey around the end of one hole and let an ant tied with a thread go through it from the other end. The lord rewarded the son. However, a messenger was sent from the neighboring province again demanding that they identify which of two identical mares is the parent and which is the child. The son asked his mother again and then told the solution to the lord. When told by the lord that he would grant the son’s wish, he pleaded for his mother’s life. Since then, old men and women have been treated with respect and are no longer exiled.

Ubatseyama- The Mountain Where Old Women Are Abandoned
An old silent film about a village where old people are exiled since the Lord does not like them.
Story~ 8
The story is very good. The main character disobeys the Lord's command to give up old people for exile by hiding his mother. The role this mother plays is integral to the story, which I will explain a little later; this is something the Lord and his subjects all seem to lack. The main character loves his mother dearly, which is another symbol for the respect younger people should have for the elderly. The story challenged the mythical/folklore-ish ...

Story: The Story for this anime was very good. I enjoyed it alot and it told an amazing moral. The only problem I have was that there was no character growth (more on that in Character).

Art: Amazing. I loved it. It was very traditionalist to old Japanese art which was popular at the time.

Sound: N/A no sound

Character: The characters were pretty static honestly. The only person who learned a valueable lesson was the antagonist, but we didnt even see him much often or get any background on who he is and why he is like that.

Enjoyment: For it being one of the oldest anime ...

Story
The anime had a nice life lesson on viewing. Everyone sees something in some light. That is perfectly fine but if there is something that is done rather rashly because of this then it is not right. For with everything in life there is a purpose even if it is small. To be able to grasp this message means to be the story and art was done well. The introduction was done perfectly from a story telling point of view. As for the conclusion another good job for it was a result was made based on the introduction. Alas, the ...
