All of these anime are tearjerks in their own merit, you might not cry at all of them, but all of these have a high potential to.

Your name / weathering with you isn't on here since I haven't watched them.

My collection for romantic-comedy drama animes. This kind of formula is one of the major things in terms of romance. A pinched of humor and romance, but mostly it have the most dramatic element. Some of these animes are truly tearjerking and kinda frustrating to watch XD But these are my recommendations that you might give an interest.

Every animated media that has been made, in some way has the idea to tell a story, and to express a feeling onto the watcher. But then, there are some series which has a particular way to evocate it's emotions, and they use different tools to do that. Thought provoking writing, displaying the characters' internal monologues, their struggles and fears, using very particular cinematographic angles, and using contrasting styles of animation, colouring and highly symbolical and metaphorical imagery - these are some of the few hallmarks that the said animation is having psychological themes, and that it is avant-garde in it's approach. This is not limited to any genre, as well.

I do realize that animation like this may not be for everyone, but I do firmly believe in it's artistic merits and integrity. Media like this allows us to peek into the human psyche and probably our own too, and it does provides us with often interesting viewpoints of our world, even if fractured through the prism of the animated fiction. Shows like that also likes to ask us questions without answers, to give us moral dilemmas without solid conclusion, or to put it short, to make us think.

The shows that were picked follows a pattern, the ones which are more straightforward, less abstract and easier to get into will be first, while the list goes down, the more complex and obscure the works will get.

Music is perfect when it comes to stimulating your emotions and imagination. When I'm in a funk, these perk me right back up and get my creative juices a-flowing, and maybe they'll help you, too. (Requests welcome.)

A interest stack dedicated to my favorite anime theme of all time: change, whether it being growing for a better future or moving on from the past.

That being said, 'change' is something that's up to my own interpretation, so it won't fully represent what anyone else thinks. I just hope that you enjoy these shows and maybe even cry at some of them :)

This stack will balance between fairly conventional but beautiful art style -for example 3-gatsu no Lion- and unique artstyle -like Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei-, with some maybe not-so-worthy mentions in the middle.

So far I'm gonna add the ones I watched, so let's say that it's always in construction.

Oh, btw, for series with multiple entries, I'm gonna add the first one only. Enjoy!

The romance as a genre, in it's typical sense, is a hit or miss for most of us, and this is understandable. Each of us had different outlook on life, our experience has shaped our personalities by particular ways, and the way we comprehend the fragile and gentle feelings of love within ourselves is something very personal.

But then again, some stories, despite not having entirely romantic focus, can portray relationships and can be felt deeply. Shows like these rarely does get the spotlight for this reasons, and are oftenly skipped by people who're usually interested in the romance aspect of things, which is one of the reasons this collection was made.

Some of these works have interesting variety of genres, themes and moods, but in each of them you can find a hint of, if not well explored, romance. As well as that, some romances that are breaking the mold of the usual adaptations are included, since they're rarely well explored within the fandom, and deserve our appreciation.

This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious).

This stack is a work in progress.

Although none of these anime have a tag/theme that denotes them as psychological, they all use cinematographic tactics often seen in psychological media to explore different aspects of the human condition and tackle atypical and philosophical topics.

This is a counterpart to the my magical realism coming-of-age stack. Here, I'll be listing my favorite traditional coming-of-age stories, shows about growing up that take place in a down-to-earth representation of the real world without any fantasy elements. Like with the previous list, I'll be using the first season of the show to represent the entire series.

Anime adaptations of various visual novels. Their total number is clearly more than the allowable limit, so I tried to add mainly adaptations of novels by well-known brands (Key, 5pb, Aquaplus), or those with well-known adaptations. Given the many sequels, spin-offs, and versions (especially in the case of the Fate series), I added only very first anime in the franchise.

Some of it are pure dramas and some of it can be blended in other genres. Still, you need some box of tissues before watching these shows and films.
