Anime featuring humankind making its first contact with extraterrestials. The alien contact should be known to at least one government body or be public knowledge at least by the end of the story (instead of just the protagonists making the contact).

The following are excluded:
- Main focus on alien girlfriends, due to a certain tiger print bikini gal's overwhelming influence
- Stories about the aftermath of an alien contact; first contact should be a central plotpoint that isn't just glossed over in an exposition
- Stories where an alien infiltration would be a spoiler

Anime that have a complete story.

Before Gundam became a heavyweight franchise in 1985, there were several mecha anime in the early 80s that had more engaging, serialized stories and realistic, complicated characters and worldbuilding, but still shared a lot of similarities with 1970s mecha anime. This is a list of such mecha anime.

This stack is dedicated to anime that are built on the iconic opposition and rivalry of two characters or factions. The clash of opposing personalities and ideologies, feuds, emotional tension, fateful stakes and, most likely, enthusiastic fan shipping of principled rivals with each other, everything you like.

For the sake of including as much as I could, I've only listed one entry from each franchise/series (generally the first installment). Canal 5 is a Mexican free-to-air television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. It traces its origins to the foundation of Channel 5 in Mexico City in 1952 (also known by its identification code XHGC-TDT). Canal 5's program lineup is generally targeted at a younger audience and includes cartoons, foreign series and movies, along with a limited number of sporting events such as NFL games, boxing, the FIFA World Cup and, historically, the Olympic Games.

Canal 5 is mainly aimed at children and youth audiences, although in late hours it usually includes a more general concept with television series and reality shows. Over the decades among its programming, it includes many series purchased from networks such as Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, among others; while the series aimed at the general public often come from Paramount Network, Fox Broadcasting Company, Warner Bros. (now known as Warner Bros. Discovery), Sony Group Corporation, ViacomCBS (now Paramount Global), MTV, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer among others. The channel also broadcasts series produced by the company TelevisaUnivision, which owns the channel. Robotech is an American 85-episode adaptation of three unrelated Japanese anime television series (from three different fictional universes) made between 1982 and 1984 in Japan; the adaptation was aired in 1985.

The series is divided into three chapters or sagas:

Robotech: The Macross Saga (Episodes 1-36) (Adapted from Super Dimension Fortress Macross TV series).

Robotech: The Robotech Masters (Episodes 37-60) (Adapted from Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross TV series).

Robotech: The New Generation (Episodes 61-85) (Adapted from Genesis Climber MOSPEADA TV series).

Continuing after the original series:

Robotech: The Movie (Adapted from Megazone 23 Part 1 OVA film. It also uses footage from Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross TV series.)
