Giving Akira a 3/10 when you have MHA S4 at a 10 and All Might as one of your favorite characters? You have to be joking right? There's no way you are a functional adult with a real social life.

your reviews are shit

That makes sense, especially when both are putting their games on PC anyway. Luckily I do have a Switch so I still have the ability to play console games too xD.

I see about it not being a new observation, but still within the generation. I imagine that the cost is quite expensive, both in time taken and the cost to those who worked on it, and true that the market is likely kids so the developers won't be pulling back production costs. I haven't heard too much about it but I do agree that game looks incredibly terrible. It's a shame that Tolkien's passion project has become so monetized at the cost of quality :/.

While I haven't played some of those (meaning DQ8 or Oddworld) I do agree with the rest looking amazing. One can only imagine that given time with hardware like games late in a system's lifecycle have one used to really be able to create something incredible unlike today. And that's a good point about the unique aesthetic as well, and that they're really good classics.

I had heard about that, as well as it being a lost game that couldn't get published at the time. Sadly I've only played one (Pirate's Curse) but they do look like games I would like playing. I agree that it looks fantastic, and true about looking like Shovel Knight Dig which is another good game. I agree that it would withstand the test of time, and true Shantae is quite a looker but that isn't what you were talking about xD.

I agree with that, we need more indie-style games that look unique like that.

I figure, as it seems to be a common complaint at least from what I've heard, but it's probably due to us knowing what real change is like. I agree that the graphics do blur together, and good point about the similarities between Gran Turismo and Forza xD.

That's probably about when I noticed it too, and that's a good comparison to a Pixar film. I can see your mother having that sort of reaction to a video game commercial these days. True about the visual fidelity being pretty much the same, despite what publications and "Real Fans" think. I agree that games with a unique style are about the best type of games. I can see some mocap designing, as I remember them doing something similar for fighting games even back in the day, but I do understand what you mean about all the games looking the same (though even then, there's train wrecks like the recent Gollum game xD). It's as if game companies need to reign back the visual, while at the same time ignoring the complaining Real Fans(tm) but sadly that might be hoping for too much.

I remember those days as well, even if since I was mostly sticking with Nintendo post-PS2 I didn't experience the further quality improvements at the same time, but I agree that there are many games from the past that look really great. Not that the Real Fans(tm) would care, and it is true that it's unfortunate about the guys who chose to play Halo 1 and 2 over other FPS games like Timesplitters. Though at least for you Reach came out of the series improving xD.

I don't blame you lacking social media presence, as it's a waste of time. But I can understand that type of insult, as I had certainly heard it a lot back in the day. And I blame people being overly caught up on the "latest" graphics as that's something that continues to this day, and it doesn't show the quality of the game (granted good fps and animation certainly helps, so something like Pizza Tower still has really great visuals from what I've seen of the gameplay).

I'm not surprised, and I see about Warzone livestreams. I can't say I'm a fan of Battle Royale games, though I did play Mario 35 back when it was available. Perhaps it's more that I'm not too into FPS Battle Royale type games. Regardless I'm glad that I'm not the only one that has trouble telling the difference between today's console visuals. I do think that we may have hit a ceiling sometime in the PS3/360 era and games haven't had the sort of upward spike that we'd remember from the 8-bit to 16-bit eras or the SNES to the Dreamcast/Playstation. At least people are able to optimize visuals a bit better today and can handle more objects I suppose.

Your Akira review is the most cringest thing i´ve ever read in my life
emperortopaz Jul 12, 2023 7:01 AM
Glad to hear it's so well received.

That sounds pretty close to the countries I was expecting, and I agree that having Serious Sam come out of Croatia did surprise me. I see about the comparison towards SS1 being an old arcade game, though true I wouldn't expect i to be easy xD.

I can understand that, a lot of fans in those days can get overly defensive of the things they enjoy (or, more accurately, fans in general as it continues to this day xD). I see about the issues you had with H1 and H2, which seem to have been helped out in Reach. I see about playing multiplayer, but both you and your brother preferring SS1 and Timesplitters 2 (even if he liked it more than Rainbow Six xD). I wonder how many of the Halo fanboys had no idea what they were missing out on xD.

That's certainly true, it's not that type of "maturity" like Adult Swim shows would have. That's fair, I can't say too much about COD as I haven't played them but the amount of sequels is staggering. I do remember those days, but luckily I was able to slip through it relatively easily as I think that was the period I wasn't playing many console games xD. I see about the original releases of H1 and H2 being locked at 30 FPS, and Reach being that way on the 360. That shows a pretty big difference between it and the Serious Sam games, but like you said I'm sure that was intentional as otherwise it would be harder. And there's nothing wrong with looking like a Dreamcast/early PS2 game as long as it flows nicely, and fair that the Xbox (and Gamecube, though in fairness Nintendo didn't chase graphics too often) didn't have much of a difference between the PS2. I probably wouldn't be able to see the differences, but I agree that graphics aren't everything.
emperortopaz Jul 11, 2023 7:04 AM
I can understand that, and it's always good to hear that creators are fans of the medium like that. It makes the games more special, especially knowing how long they worked on it.

That's certainly a surprise like you said, as there weren't a lot of non-Japan or American games back then (or at least ones we got over here). I think I heard about The Talos Principle but I don't know anything about it, and I see for the Football game as well. That seems like a lot of time, but considering they used their own engine that's not as long as it could have been and as a result it should have stood out among games at the time. Especially lacking slowdown and having huge environments, and I can understand magazines praising it as a result (and it sounds like the visuals are quite good as well).

I can see why you'd be yelled at, they couldn't handle the truth xD. I see about SS1 and Timesplitters 2 being better for you than the first two Halos and that you hadn't played the third. Perhaps Reach is where the formula was at its best for you (and I understand that there's other ways to play it but at the beginning it was console exclusive). Speaking of Halo I can understand that the only reason people liked the first two Halos were due to graphics (at least with still shots) and it was "mature", though I imagine it having multiplayer helped to expose it to others. Perhaps this is why Call of Duty and other modern FPS continue to rely on those factors (which is a shame). I figured as much for the reloading in SS1 xD. And I see about needing spacial awareness as well, something I'm not as good at as I should be xD.

Makes sense you'd pick up the sequels and I see about SS3 being slightly different and more modern but retained the wacky enemies, hopefully you'll still enjoy it.
emperortopaz Jul 10, 2023 7:03 AM
I can understand that, as well as having hope for the new Ubisoft project but much like you I'm not a big fan of the company either. And I wouldn't count the games they own now from other companies either xD.

True I was talking about the two television series and not James Cameron's Avatar (I haven't seen that either, so I can't say much xD). Cool that a fan of Star Wars would likely enjoy both the strengths and weaknesses, and I hope that when I get around to them I'll enjoy them as well.

I did notice that, and I see about the game having a lot of references to older video games as I do like that sort of thing. I suppose being on more modern hardware than the GBA allows Pizza Tower to be a lot more fluid with the animation style (and true it was time well spent as well).

Cool about picking up Serious Sam on the summer sale for quite a low price, and I can understand not having played it in years (especially if you had only rented it back then). I didn't realize that it was an indie game as well, though I didn't pay too much attention to it at the time. I have heard of the franchise though, even if I don't think that it's had any new games lately (at least from what I know). It does sound a lot closer to the older 90s or so FPS games than the ones like Halo that were popular around the time, as well as having a lot of unique things that stand out like the number of enemies you can fight at once (which not having to reload I imagine helps with xD), and that's cool about the cutscenes being short and skippable. Hopefully the lack of range dropoff helps more than it hurts the player though xD.

I wouldn't say "dumb" as much as challenging, and if I were into that sort of game (and good at it) it does sound like a good game. There also sounds like there's a lot of enjoyable things about the game and nice dig at Ubisoft as well xD. I can understand why it's a cult classic, and sounds like you might be picking up quite a few games during this sale xD.
emperortopaz Jul 9, 2023 7:03 AM
Fair that you noticed that, and true that for a series that has a fair bit of toilet humor PSG is fairly classy xD. And true about ignoring the canonical details as well.

That is what I was afraid of as well, which is a shame as Star Wars could use stand-out games (and not due to poor quality). I feel the same about wanting to be wrong but still avoiding Ubisoft games (I don't know if I even played them too much even prior to the PS2 xD).

I can understand that, I have heard good things about the movie and I see about watching Andor (and seeing if I like it after a few episodes). I do remember you mentioning watching the animated Star Wars series (or at least Rebels), and that sort of praise is quite impressive knowing you've seen Avatar. But it sounds like outside thte somewhat slow first season Clone Wars CGI has very good highs and Rebels, while not as high, is easier to get into. But cool regardless, and I see about the spinoffs of The Clone Wars but not going into them blind.

I have heard a lot of good things about Pizza Tower, so it is a shame it's only on Steam, but I didn't know you enjoyed Wario Land 4 while you were younger. It is a very good spiritual successor to that game, with a lot of love put into it and I can see your love for it (as well as the care the producers put into it). No doubt I can see it being praised as one of the better games of the year xD.
emperortopaz Jul 8, 2023 7:04 AM
True that it would be great if they never reference it, though having you use the phrase "remember that time when [X]?" makes me think they might reference Family Guy's overused joke now xD (not necessarily for what happened in the earlier season, but more for something completely random).

I agree with canon purists, especially for a show like this where a lot of the humor comes from the absurd, the details aren't as important as the message. Good point about the point being obvious, but hopefully PSG is as interesting as you hope it to be.

It is true that I follow Star Wars though not as much as you seem to. I do think that I heard about Star Wars Outlaws in passing, though I don't have enough experience with Ubisoft to know if them making an open world game themed around Star Wars is a good thing or not.

True I'm at least caught up with The Mandalorian, and I enjoyed it too. I haven't seen Andor though, and same with Rogue One (sadly I haven't seen most of the new movies, moreso because I don't watch a lot of movies in general than purposely avoiding them). I might have to watch it, even if it is a little slower than some other shows. I see about there being more Jedi lessons to come as well xD.
emperortopaz Jul 7, 2023 7:00 AM
True that Panty & Stocking is getting a lot of hype for their return. I do wonder if they'll address the ending, but considering the series I could see them completely ignoring it as well for humor's sake xD.
emperortopaz Jun 17, 2023 7:03 AM
Cool that your current PC's CPU is still fast, but wasn't cheap (but still cheaper than most expensive Gamer PCs xD).

Nothing wrong with that, and hope you enjoy your time playing Third Strike.
emperortopaz Jun 16, 2023 7:01 AM
Glad to hear you had good memories, even if you didn't have people to play with. And good point about justice no dying in the AA universe xD. I see about recently learning about the cell phone MML game a few months ago, but considering it was Japan-only I don't blame you as I hadn't heard about it either.

That's a reasonable goal, and there's nothing wrong with being sensible as far as computers go (and it would likely be less expensive, which is always a good thing).
