I don't actually pay attention to the artwork or covers. I'm just used to reading quickly because I read a lot of books and since they don't have any pictures and just words, it just a habit. Since I also read manga on my tablet, I just have a habit of scrolling right onto the next page even before I finish reading the text bubble. While I am a fast reader I still take long to catch up or finish a manga because once I put it down and take a break from reading it I sometime end up not picking it back up until like maybe a month a later.

Sometimes you have to step away and then make a come back with what you are reading/watching. I used to read Prison School, I was so drained from reading the manga that I dropped it and only came back to finish it 3 years later, so it is okay to take your time, you can always come back to those manga/anime, or you can just drop them, that's okay too. Particularly, when I am overwhelmed by anime/manga, I like to watch movies or series, change a bit my perspective of stuff or maybe even doing other activities.

I considered Frieren with the same reasoning as you, I found it weird how an anime I didn't even consider when I was picking my seasonal animes had one of the best rating here so I gave it a shot, binge read the manga and now I even bought all the volumes out. Yeah, their release pattern is so weird, but to be honest I don't mind since I enjoy the quality of the story, if the author needs this time to write peak fiction, I am down. I mean, I even bought the volumes and I don't usually do that, I have now 3 manga series in my possession.

I see you are reading Frieren, great choice, take your time reading it though, we recently had a one month hiatus, 2 issues released in two weeks and we are in another break so, don't read it too fast

I'm the opposite. I watch before deciding to read the manga. One thing the manga don't have is the voice acting and the music. The reason I watch Frieren was because of the hype and Yoasobi doing the opening, but I end up loving the series. I do plan of reading the manga someday.

I think I saw/friended you through the MHA manga forum, but I don't remember exactly. We never officially met, I just like to friend a lot of ppl who seem to have similar taste to me, that way I can always check a bunch of people's lists for recommendations. :3 On the MAL homepage it lets you know which of your friends have upcoming birthdays, and I'm active pretty much every day, so I try my best to wish all of my friends a happy birthday! c:
