My name is Thomas, I'm 22, and I'm an alcoholic. Er, anime fan. Same diff'. Lover of old toku, gekiga, guro, and all things obscure. I tend to prefer older stuff, but I enjoy new stuff sometimes too. Some of my favorite anime/manga are Golgo 13, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Devilman, and Dragon Ball.
Currently going to college, previously a TV writing major and now majoring in creative writing!
I started the lists below a few years ago and didn't really keep up with them, but they're still fairly up-to-date.
Notes About My Lists (Which Can Be Found Below This List)
[list=1]
[*]All series are listed in alphabetical order based on the title given on the packaging. If this drastically differs from the original Japanese title, then the original title is given in parentheses. I.e. "Getter Robo Go" was renamed to "Venger Robo" when Viz released it, so it is listed as "Venger Robo (Getter Robo Go)".
[*]I also list which company released the version that I own, and what format it's in (VHS/DVD/Blu-ray for anime, Paperback/Hardcover for manga).
[*]The (Complete) tag means that I own every volume/issue/whatever that was produced for that product line. I.e. I own all of the "Dragon Ball Z" Dragon Boxes, and thus after the seventh (and last) box I put the (Complete) tag. However, I only own five of the nine season sets, and thus would not mark any of those as (Complete) even though I own the entire series in a different release.
[*]The (Complete) tag only applies to series or OVAs that were released in more than 1 volume/set. If they were released in one set (like Discotek's "Space Pirate Captain Harlock" set), then it should be assumed that it is complete from the lack of "Volume #X" after the name.
[*]I still use the (Complete) tag even if the company that released the product never finished releasing it, I.e. CPM's "Machine Robo Revenge of Cronos" release, or Viz Media's "Area 88" release.
[*]For my manga collection, if it is listed as being in Issues as opposed to Volumes, then I own it in a flipped (left-right) comic book-style release that was very common in the 1980s and 1990s. Sometimes, these were even colorized (like Viz Media's "Midnight Eye Goku: Private Investigator" release).
[*]My action figures list gives the name of the character, the line of figures they're from, and the show they're from.
[*]My action figures list includes characters from tokusatsu, not just anime characters.

Well most are probably too offended by the anime which for many was quite sleazy but for me its good campy fun. The manga though from what I've been able to read was actually very clever perhaps a couple of misses but the first couple of arks were epic!
Considering you have a love for sci fi stuff, I'm very surprised you've never seen the original GITS movie or the Patlabor movies by Mamoru Oshii. Amazing director, he's like the Andrei Tarkovsky or Ridley Scott of anime, so his work is very philosopical and mood driven. GITS should be viewed in 1080p if possible, but yeah, wonderful film, IMO, much better than Akira, since it can stand on its own merits much more easily than Akira can, making it more approachable.
Is your avatar from Violence Jack? Certainly has that "Go Nagai" look.
