Novel adaption of the popular songs featured in Kagerou Project written by Jin (Shizen no Teki-P) and illustrated by Sidu.
Shintaro Kisaragi, a NEET who shut himself inside his room for two years, has been living his life normally until he met a cyber girl named Ene, who appeared on his computer screen when someone sent him an e-mail one year ago. During Obon, Ene was messing with Shintaro and he spills a bottle of soda all over his keyboard and mouse, which causes him have to go to outside world for first time in two years.
At the time of this review, I've read the first 5 volumes of Kagerou Daze.
The story of Kagerou Daze is a strange and weird one. The main story takes place on August 14th and 15th and is about strange eye powers that reside in the main characters, the heat-haze daze and different timelines.
Kagerou Daze is a full story of Jin (Shizen no Teki-P)'s vocaloid song series, Kagerou Project. It can seem like rather complicated story, as it will switch from current time to the past throught the story, however, once you understand it, it's well worth it.
Sidu (formerly known as Shidu) is an incredible artist and one of my personal favorites. Sidu's style is very distinct and noticeably improved greatly each volume, which is a plus because the novels start with good art from volume 1. Kagerou Daze also has some of my favorite character designs, which were done by Sidu and Wannyanpu, but Sidu perfected Wannyanpu's designs which created incredibly appealing designs.
The characters in Kagerou Daze are absolutely amazing. Our protagonist, Shintaro Kisaragi, may seem at first glance to be generic going by his design and first impressions as he's a hikkiNEET, but he is a very deep character who is troubled and suffered (it gets hinted a bit more as each volume passes).
All of the characters in this series have tragic backstories. Most of the main characters art part of the Mekakushi Dan, a gang of teenagers who have strange eye powers. Some of the best characters in this novel are Shintaro Kisaragi, Haruka Kokonose, Shuuya Kano, Takane Enomoto, and Konoha.
I LOVE the Kagerou Project franchise (songs, novel, manga, anthologies, anime) and this is my favorite light novel. The novel is extremely well written and I can feel how hard Jin had worked on these novels and I truly appreciate it.
I can't recommend this novel enough, it's amazingly written and I love it to death.read more
