Symphogear Live ticket in v1 was a big draw, not surprising with Nana Mizuki singing but I still hoped it would be less than the usual massive 35% event ticket boost. Ah well, still better than season 1!

Had hoped for better for all of these, actually quite surprised at how low White Album2 is considering you get OP, ED and ED/insert song. Thought Non Non Biyori would be more popular as well considering the Stalker numbers.

19. *5,826 **5,826 Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai OP "Anicca"

After vol 3, there is no more event ticket. Let's see how many people will buy Free! for the anime only. The standard drop from vol 1 is 20% - 35%. I think the average for this show will be within 23k - 26k.

Looks like I was wrong to expect Symphogear to get a 10k average, the 31%~ drop from V1w1 is too big of a drop.

Unless the other volume's sell more, but I doubt that.

"Children of Japan. And those who were once children. Listen! This is not a dream. This is not fiction. In reality, your superheroes were always fighting. To teach viewers courage and the meaning of justice! No matter how many enemies there are. No matter how strong evil is. Just remember. Does any another country have so many heroes? Has any another country been protected by multiple superheroes? Stand with me, friends! Remember when you used to watch your superheroes!

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

FREEEEEEEEEE! MABUSHI NA HIKARI~

Only a 5.6% drop from volume 2!

I predict that volume 4's sales will be 23k first week! Hopefully will manage 25k by the second week. But even with that, the average for the series should be above 25k hopefully.

And even if disc sales do drop 4k, Free! is rolling in dough from the merchandise sales. It has SO much merchandise.

Ugggghhh...some Free fans showing a lack of maturity in this thread...

I tried to convince Kaioshin NOT to let himself be consumed by animosity towards Kyoani and its shows and then people go and provoke him unnecessarily when he hasn't even posted in this thread yet. I wonder, do those of you posting about him truly want him to stop posting about kyoani or do you really just want to gloat and provoke him into an angry response?

Why can't fans of Free just be happy and excited that a show they like is doing well? Why gloat or provoke? Perhaps it is a function of age or maturity, but if you truly want him to stop posting about kyoani or Free why don't you avoid provoking him? Your provocations contribute to the situation, so if you continue to do so you should expect him to respond.

I get it, you don't like his opinion and you think his hatred is excessive. Fine. I might even agree. BUT why not be the more mature person and not get involved in a tit for tat exchange?

If Kaioshin reads this I hope he will show his own maturity and not respond to this provocation.

As for the sales, that number for the Tokyo Ravens OP is decent right? Also, was this a slow week for DVDs or something? I don't remember Yamato being on last weeks list but it's on this week's lol.

According to mania.com
---
OVAs, Movies, Boxsets etc:
Madoka Movies 1-2 add 1358 LE BDs, total 101,252. The bump continues (2.5k in the past 2 weeks), and 100k is officially passed!

---
Madoka officially reached 100K of BD/DVD sales already!

Congrats!

Officially watched both movies twice, not included the countless times I re-watched the many great scenes from the movies. now I can't wait to watch the sequel movie, at least 6 more months away.

Thank you for noticing this and that there's truth to what I say about a particular subsection of the Kyoani fanbase. I know not everyone who is a fan of them is like this, and a lot of people are just saying stuff like, "I'm happy it's doing well" which is all fine and good and I have nothing wrong with that at all really, but there's enough obvious trollbaiting that surrounds sales of Kyoani shows (on both sides of the argument to be fair) that it's pretty hard not to notice if you are at least willing.

Personally I don't see what there is to be gained from making comments like "Free is on top as it should be" and acting like gangsta rappers in talking about how much money they have OTHER than as a form of baiting. Not sure what people have to gloat about either as it's not like they're benefiting finance wise or anything like that so again what else could it be other than baiting. Like you I just don't see what's to be gained from it personally and agree people are pretty well fishing at this point. It's pretty immature yet typical stuff. Like I said though I really have no new observations to make about it's place in the charts, it's a foregone conclusion now that it's going to be at the top of any chart the week so....yeah.

Anyway Tokyo Ravens is one of the many openings I like this season so it's cool that it's reasonably popular. To bad I can't say the same about enjoying the show lately though. Episodes 5 on are always the true test of whether I'm able to stick with a Light Novel adaptation or not though so no huge surprise there.

I don't get Log Horizon's popularity period at all and figure it must be borne of concept rather than execution similar to SAO. I mean that first episode was horrible, probably the worst of any episode I saw this season in that went absolutely nowhere, was confusing, poorly animated and directed and basically just featured the same kind of throwaway comedy you can see in the likes of just about any show....AS A FIRST EPISODE. Like to give SAO credit, it's first episode was the antithesis of that in that it was IMO a great well produced hook, and only after did it kind of fail to realize even a fraction of it's potential by decaying into a one man show about harem antics and one sided battles, but I saw nothing to love about Log Horizons opening episode or even arc.

I beg to differ. Sure, SAO's first episode was done well and made it easy to get into the series, but at episode 6 where we are now I could already feel the decline for SAO while Log Horizon is unfolding more and more potential each episode. The execution is just so much better than SAO in terms of doing the premise justice and also in terms of characters. It's not the same as SAO, it tries to do different things, it's not a survival game kind of show, so expectations needed some adjustment early on, but in the end what counts is how good a show does what it tries to do. And Log Horizon does fairly well in implementing game mechanics (also social mechanics of games) in a sort of semi s-o-l setting. Also the focus on teamwork and strategy instead of simply being an overpowered 'beater' with an emo attitude works wonders for my enjoyment.
You'll probably disagree, but the first episode was far from bad to me. I immediately liked Shiroe a lot more than Kirito because he wasn't en edgy teenager, but a somehow reflected and composed character. It also was already apparent that the game setting would be better adapted in Log Horizon, at least in terms of fight mechanics and such. Another good thing about the show is that it spends far less time on pandering than other LN adaptions, be it from the current season or any other. The production value might not be as high and the first episode didn't have that much impact, but it was still good in it's own right and everything after that is just much more promising than SAO. As I said, the show is still on the rise while SAO declined from start to finish almost constantly.
I probably regret this post by now.

Thats the OP single, its sales have nothing to do with the popularity of the anime.

By the way, its never a wise idea to judge an anime based on only its first episode.

Oh, I didn't know that or remembered it wrong then, that makes sense. And yeah, I forgot to mention that Kaoishin replied to someone who probably only disagreed with the popularity of the OP. I personally do enjoy the OP, but it's not in my top 3 of the season. Those go to Samurai Flamenco, Hajime no Ippo and something else.
I probably regret this post by now.

To me saying "Free is on top where it should be" is the same as if I were saying "I'm happy it's doing well."
I fail to see any problem with that.
About what I gain: a smile on my face that for once, a show I like is the first thing I see in a list.
Am I not entitled to feel happy for a show (or in this case 2) I like? Do you want me to be depressed or something?

Everything else just reads like hypocrisy and I'm not even sure about the gangsta rapper comment.

I'm overjoyed to see Free! topping the charts again.

I'm also glad that Tokyo Ravens' OP did well. I bought myself a copy and the songs are really damn catchy.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

I think the issue was more with the unwarranted jab at Kaoishin in reply to that other provoking post.
I probably regret this post by now.

Too bad, there are soundtrack albums, IdolM@ster albums and a bunch of female-oriented albums on the chart. And I remember how popular it was when I added it (and dythsk even thanked me for filling this hole which he admitted has been neglected for way too long). A shame, really.

The first has a tone of stating a comment as something objective (even though it may not be your intention), while the second is a clear expression of personal feeling. I sense a bit of difference in the tone, subtle but perhaps important to those who are not on the same side of opinion as yours.

You basically sum up the appeals that I also read on Japanese forums (with the exception of how cute Akatsuki is or how cool Nyanta is). And I think there is good reason why the title has been getting better in Amazon ranking over time. As you said, the potential is there.

Another good thing about the show is that it spends far less time on pandering than other LN adaptions, be it from the current season or any other. The production value might not be as high and the first episode didn't have that much impact, but it was still good in it's own right and everything after that is just much more promising than SAO.
Both the lack of "pandering" and lower production value is something you should always expect from a NHK anime.

I'd say a fair bet for final average for Free! is more like 28k, with a shot at 30k if the ticket effect is really as small as it appears to be.
I believe this would be enough for Free! to become one of the TOP FOUR BESTSELLER of this year?

I'll miss them, too. Those and some honorable mentions like seiyuu live releases where always among the most interesting things of the charts.

I agree. I found the Album CD sales a nice addition to these threads. One other feature I notice is missing, is the Vol.1 Preliminary sales list. Most of the data is already available at Stalker (release dates) and on jmal's Mania threads, but maybe some people on MAL would prefer it to be in the post after the sales data. Ah well, I guess we can't have everything.

By the way, thanks for all your work on MAL, symbv. I'm assuming that your life may have gotten a bit busier for you to stop being a news mod here.
