As expected from the prequel of #1 VN in Japan. Thanks Leaf, it's been a while that we didn't get a good romance anime.

Now what's left is to hope that Satelight adapt everything right.

I'm not in love with the sudden fade-outs they have with every scene change. But that's minor.

The major complaint I have is that this romance is not as mature as I expected it to be. Sure, it's a lot more subtle than the common stock blush-upon-everything going on almost everywhere else, but it's still very clear that both Ogiso and Touma have developed feelings for Kitahara -- quite strong feelings at that. And we're in the third episode! Then again, there are only 12 episodes in this series. I'm not sure if they could afford to let it warm up slowly. If only they did though. I think this would have felt a lot more natural.

I get what you're saying, but both Kazusa and Setsuna developing strong feelings for Haruki doesn't necessarily mean that they have hopelessly fallen for him. At this point in time, anyway. Consider their circumstances, what's been shown of their natures so far, and how they reacted to certain things in this episode - Setsuna especially. It had a particularly telling scene showing Kazusa and Haruki arguing while she zones out, to the point where she takes notice of her mother and brother lurking outside. Pair that with the line in episode two where she said that things will go right for her “this time”, and things start quickly adding up to how she really feels.

Wow, I'm starting to get really impressed with this, and I thought I'd drop it after episode 1. Man oh man the lecturing main character gets on my nerves!!

See the clash

Touma -> Archetypical western appearance, relatively modern and fashionable clothing , high personal freedom, pragmatic and straightforward, etc.

I've never seen a Westerner sport a hime-cut. That's a very high class hair cut with a very specific meaning and tradition in Japan that has nothing to do with Western philosophy whatsoever. As for her outfit, I just figured casual clothing. You could make an argument that she tries to put on a Tom boy appearance that contrasts with Setsuna's feminine choice in clothing, but I'm not seeing the Western influence at all.

Good episode!!
I find Touma's character to be interesting and hopefully we get to know her better.
I laughed when Ogiso compared her height and breast size to Touma...and felt defeated..

Every time I've finished watching an episode of this Anime I simply sighed contently.

Not happily, angrily or disappointedly, just contently. This Anime is simply nice.

The main story is there, though they removed some non-essential part, but they also added extra scenes not found in the VN like the cards part.

Overall, this is still a very good episode.

3rd episodes in and it feels good. I like this episode. I like the three main characters. The main guy isn't bad at all compared to the first WA which I drop after 2 episodes.

Setsuna, is pretty, cute, and sweet, while Touma is also pretty, cool, has spunk, and has larger breast than Setsuna. lol.

IMO, this feels balance, that it's not being over dramatic, nor any of the three are annoying. Hoping that I can watch this till the last episode.

is it me or does anyone else feel the romance in the end will be unrequited for all 3 of them, ogiso loves kitahara, kithara loves touma, touma loves kitahara but i bet she declines because her best friend to be*(ogiso) loves kitahara

Knew this show would be great.

I feel like that line "we'll either be the best of friends or mortal enemies" is going to be an important one.

Definitely one of the best shows this season, but I hope it won't turn into a bloody love triangle.

Don't know about "bloody" but it was pretty clear that this will be a love triangle from very first scene of the first episode.

Well a pretty solid episode.
The director/script writer even bothered to show the Touma's character, not just having the MC praised her subjectively.
Also I liked how they showed that Setsuna has a pretty perceptive side. She even baited and fished out Touma's feeling during the coffee talk, as well as realizing MC's bias towards Touma during dinner. Gotta love perceptive characters.
Even though I was shown a little of what gonna happen during the concert, I still want more because I just don't know what gonna happen. What a drama to watch.

Goddammit, another episode where every single piece of dialogue has worth and meaning. This anime is making my expectations rise too high that it's almost unhealthy.

All the subtleties for the future events coming up are a really, really nice touch. I'm really impressed.

Really enjoyable ep.

Loving Kazusa. Her personality is awesome. Cold but caring.

Setsuna is still lovable as well :)

Lol'd when Setsuna was comparing herself to Kazusa XD

Can't wait to see how their relation will go. Both of them obviously have feelings for Haruki. And I'm already smelling jealousy in the air.

I think Kazusa already knows that since she said we'll either be best of friends or mortal enemies.

Yup

I liked Kazuka from the first minute but didn't want to comment on it until she'd been solidly introduced.

Now I can say I completely prefer her, even though the other girl is charming. I like her personality, her appearance, her disconcertingly deep voice - which probably means she won't get the guy, since I always choose second/best. :(

I just think she has a really interesting relationship with the main. It seems like he gets really flustered around her, plus there's that teaching guitar memory.

Haruki was kind of being a butt with the lecturing at the beginning.

Touma strikes me as a bitter person. She's quiet and somewhat rude, but you can tell in little spots that she still cares. The characterization seems very realistic. While I don't like her rudeness, I can definitely sympathize with the bitterness... I'm curious about her past with Haruki, as well as her circumstances in general.

Ogiso is as upbeat as ever. Seeing her interact with Touma was somewhat fascinating. I don't want to keep going on about it, but I haven't seen such good characterization often (if ever) in anime. Her comparison of herself to Touma was humorous too. Even Ogiso's interaction with her family felt so spot-on! Wow.

It wasn't a feel-good episode, but it did so well objectively that I don't have anything to complain about. If these first episodes are indicative of the whole show, this could certainly end up being a favorite.

I'm fine with overacting and melodrama but this is a bit too much.

The black hair girl and her "tough" personality sounds too forced. Voice is unnaturally deep too.

The character interactions are also a bit too random.

I must admit, I really enjoyed this episode.
At the beginning it was not convincing but the second part has become addictive regarding the narration; dialogues were a nice surprise is they made me think again. I hope that the TV series will continue on this track. Drawings not the ultimate in quality, but the soundtrack is interesting as catchiness.
Now I'm going to follow him more closely.

Touma is definitely growing on me. She's cute when she smiles. She definitely has a dere side to her.

"She'll either end up being my mortal enemy, or the best friend I ever have." So no in between. I wonder where she'll end up. I can only hope for the best but I don;t think that's going to happen.

Nice ED too.

Kazusa Touma is one cool ice lady. Setsuna though is a lot more perceptive than i thought. Nice triangle setting up here.

It's just the 3rd ep, and I can already feel jealousness in the air @_@ So far I like Setsuna better, because she's just plain nice, but at the same time I don't think she's a very complex character... Kazusa is a bit too icy for my liking, but maybe she will have some dere moments later?

Either sworn enemies or best friends eh, that sums up their relationship quit well. Anyway, I love everything about this episode, it's always great to re-watch White Album 2. Perhaps after that I might read the VN again.

Ogiso probably had to sit through a bunch of negotiations with her dad growing up and I just feel sorry for her thinking about it.

The tsundere energy in Touma is real, but she has such a cool aura about her too.
