So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

- Sweet Korean baby Jesus, Love Live is rocking it. Awesome, but not really surprising, is it?
- What's that new GuP disc and how can I watch it? <3
- Railgun and JoJo doing very well. Glad about that.
- CG is still selling such numbers? Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
- For some reason I thought Gargantia would be released as BD boxes only, but apparently that's not the case. If that's a single volume then I'm quite impressed by the sales (and happy, of course).
- DxD NEW and Oregairu deserve those numbers (the latter even more so). Very enjoyable shows.

Don't care about the rest. Thanks for the news, sym.

Passed 55K, will it be able to sell another 4,5K to pass 60K?

2,262 *,*13,974 Shingeki no Kyojin vol.3
Only 136 less than v1 second week, quite good considering that extras for V3 are not aimed for DVD buyers (VN on BD) .

I expect 3200-3500 for SnK v3 BD.

Waiting for full numbers later this week. Really curious about SxS v2 BD sales, hope it was holding good as DVD sales.

Ah and Oregairu finally decreased in sales :(. Hope with next VN bonus it will pick up sales. I relly want for it somehow to pass 10K average.

Release for Gargantia is really unusual. It's listed as Blu-ray BOX, but for season there is not one but three volumes. Basicly one volume for Gargantia is like two standard volumes for other anime releases.

Like I said in the previous sales thread, I'm happy of the sales of the GuP Heartful Tank Disc. It didn't sold like the what was predicted(since it is not really new episodes of the anime and just a fan disc) but it was still good nonetheless.

GuiltyKing said:

It's a fan disc containing footages from various GuP-related events that happened in Japan during and after the anime was airing. Not sure but I don't think it will be translated.

It's kinda pricey for a box-set plus its 3 volume box set (probably because it has tons of extras). Chihayafuru has only 2 boxsets despite being a 2-cour show

it should hit 6k though, at least.
i hope kiniro mosaic hits 6k too.
lol dangan ronpa v2 sure dropped a lot. full BD sales aren't out yet, so it might still be more.

So that's how it is. It's basically three volumes à 4/5 episodes. Now the sales make some more sense too. Thanks for the explanation.

That it sells well may not be surprising, but it is understandable if some express surprise over *how many more* vol.7 is selling compared to other volumes:

One volume can contain more than 2 or 3 episodes, right? Though about naming it as "Gargantia BD Box vol.2" but that would have conveyed an image that it contains a large number of episodes like Fate/Zero or Chihayafuru do. So at the end I stick to using the simple vol.2 as a notation.

Last week was packed of actions. These are the titles I'm most excited to see. I'm also a bit disappointed that Valvrave Blu-ray does not make the list since the cut-off point is so high (at 5,645). Valvrave cour-2 is coming soon this Oct, so I hope it creates a cour-1's average bump of at least a thousand more disc.

I'm not sure about Korean Baby Jesus :D, but big sale for Love Live 7 was expected due to all the bonuses (especially this one: -"Love Live! mu's NEXT LoveLive! 2013 -ENDLESS PARADE-" advanced application ticket).
That said, selling over 30K in the first week is still an amazing feat for this last volume. Love Live has definitely come a long way; and its popularity is still growing as time passes.

There are indeed anime material but not anime itself. What I mean is on top of the fan event in Ooarai there are the following extras that are material related to the anime:

- Picture drama
- Yukari's tank seminar (fan event version)
- The making of Girls und Panzer

SymphogearG v1 has been climbing up Amazon chart ever since the last episode was aired. It broke new high earlier today at #12 (it is #13 now). The talk is more like whether it will sell more than Highschool DxD New as the estimates are quite close for the two.

WataMote won't sell well. Stalker estimate is 1.6k and if it ends up selling more it is unlikely it will make it above the manabi line.

Very nice to see these selling well.
BroCon volume 2 is nearly 6k which surprises me a lot. If this keeps up we might get a season 2 where I hope they cover Iori, Kaname and the other brothers more. Especially poor Masa-nii. :(
Karneval should add more on BD in Thursday's list. Season 2 please?
UtaPri2 - SEASON 3 WHEN?

Also happy to see the music, CD and Radio CD sell well for Free! Can't wait to see volume 2's numbers soon.

Haven't really followed this weekly but any reason why the Valvrave sales drop? Didn't volume 1 do around 7k?

Probably had event tickets or some kind of extras. Also if you watched episode 10 that probably put people off to buying the rest of the volumes? That episode even shocked me.

Really happy about DxD. With near identical V1 sales numbers from season 1, I hope it stays consistent so we get a season 3 which looks to be even better than both seasons!

KinMosa beat expections which is nice to see. I hope it doesn't drop off much after V1 and ends up with at least a 4.5k average. I wish it sold more though :(

Also didn't realize Free still had more music being released. What's the total music sales now? 250k?

Indeed Valvrave v1 sold 7.3k in its first week. But you need to note that both vol.1 and vol.2 have event ticket. By vol.3 the first week sale was down to 4.3k In fact, the first week sales of DVD vol.4 (as shown in this week's chart) is actually slightly more than that of DVD vol.3.

Ah didn't know volume 1/2 were ticket events, thanks for the clarification.

One earlier post mentions one of the reasons: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=670347&show=0#msg25453527 which I think is the key reason. It also has a novel, but that is also included in vol.1,3 & 5 too.

Apparently the Code Geass R2 boxset just went on sale now. Other than Valvrave Sunrise has been having another pretty good year again it's starting to look like with the Gintama movie charting well both in theaters and on blu-ray tracking and of course the smash hit Love Live, which is kind of all the more surprising to me since that's not the kind of show the company is primarily known for at all so much as mecha. Considering how Japan seems to have all but completely turned their backs on Sunrise brand of real robot mecha anime in both Valvrave and Gundam Age (both got about the roughest reception I've ever seen from viewers on both sides of the continent) and how well Love Live and Studio 8's novel adaptations have been doing I can't help but wonder if maybe they'll consider switching strategies to be more music/moe anime focused in the coming years. It's not what I'd prefer to see from them, but if it's so much more viable in this era of anime then I really couldn't blame them if they switched and it's not like those shows have been terrible or anything either.

The fact that just re-releasing the old mecha catalogue on Blu-Ray seems to have been working this well as a strategy for them is also something of a surprise considering how poorly their recent mecha series have been received. I mean I know Gundam Wing and Seed Destiny were popular back in the day, but to expect Layzner to make a cut-off on one of these lists like it did last week would have been a stretch.

Next year is the Gundam 35th anniversary, the final volume of Unicorn, Love Live Season 2, Tiger and Bunny's Sequel Film and possibly the start of the much anticipated Gundam the Origin so I can't even imagine, but I think it's going to be an even better year for them.

It's been out for perordering since one week ago on Sep 25th - the BD Box will be released on Mar 26 2014. It debuted at #1 in Amazon and stayed there for a while. It is at #17 now.

I'm happy for both High School DxD New and Suisei no Gargantia sales. Sequels for both would be very much appreciated.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Chihayafuru 2's VAP boxes were a great deal! Box 2 was 13 episodes for 13K yen at amazon with 29 percent discount, 1K yen per episode for import is really good!

Gargantia with 4-5 episodes per box isn't much. Mouretsu Pirates had 4 episodes per LE disc! That was a good deal too that series!

OreGairu v4 had no bonuses really, just a few pages of manga in the booklet and a cute but not that exciting seiyuu video segment. V1 had novel 6.25 and event footage and OST CD, V2 had event ticket etc., V3 had novel 6.5. V5 will have novel 6.75 so hopefully it will bounce back.

The Oregairu OVA + PS Vita sold really well too, 15K and sold out first day just about everywhere online and storefront! The game is great, must have hours of dialogue, includes all the cast, even the dog. They had me at yahello! Making the characters blush etc. Is a lot of fun.

Is Illya one of the best selling 10 episodes anime ever? The ones I can think off the top of my head (Upotte, Problem Children, Korezom of the Dead, Seitokai no Ichizon season 2, Ebiten) all were around or below the Manabi line.

It kind of makes me worried about Noucome. I know that 10 episodes can boost the novel and save on animation costs but it really caps the upside of BD sales in my opinion.

I also hope Prisma season 2 gets 12-13 episodes, or maybe even 2 cour, instead of another 10 episodes. The manga is much longer but you never know.

I've been intrigued by Highschool DxD. Hoping that the sales will indicate season 3!

Also, does anyone know where did Highschool DxD New end in comparison to the novels? Or it is an original story?

Shingeki No Kyojin, chart back next week mate!

....

Off-Topic: Kinda irrelevant....

But it's just so important, I have to say it.

Valve did it mateys, though a trade mark, they've confirmed it to us that it's coming...

Half-Life 3 Confirmed.
