The 90's was an awesome decade for anime, so much good stuff. I wonder when we get to 2010 and make our 'best anime of the decade' lists, which list will have more quality.

Yeah. The answer is obvious. There is no need to try and be original.

Between NGE and Cowboy Bebop is a very hard choice.

So I say DBZ.

Edit: Read second page now. NGE ftw. Did not watch it during the 90s, though.

I still don't get why everyone thinks that NGE is such a great show sure it was ok but it was a bit to different of a series for my liking. There were many things that did not make much sense and I never did like shinji he was a winy coward. The show did make up for it a bit in some pretty crazy action scene's for its time though.

NGE was good for the industry, but not the best. There's lots of stuff that could be considered the best: Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, GTO, etc.

Well.. IMHO, NGE is the best anime.. But I can understand people that don't agree with that..

But at least you have to admit that Eva is the most important anime of the 90s, the anime that changed the ways of the anime industry..

I don't think it changed the industry, just opened it up to more possibilities. Same as what Cowboy Bebop did.

I think NGE is the most relevant anime of the '90s and its eschatological angst, but Cowboy Bebop might be the better series.

If we're including End of Evangelion, though... there's the winner.

Random: Perfect Blue helped 'legitimise' anime for po-faced westerners whose diet only consisted of Miyazaki. Didnt help much though, those po-faced westerners diet is now just Miyazaki and Perfect Blue. (oO)

Personally, I agree that NGE was awesome, but others such as Spriggan & Cowboy Bebop were great as well.

I'd really want to see a "Top anime of the decade" list as mentioned before to see what the general thought is out there.

Well I think I made a mistake of watching the movie End Of Evangelion before I watched the series :P Its not that I think its a really bad series ; I might re-watch it sometime because it was one of the first series I have seen when
I first got into anime about 5/6 years ago when I was 17. If I re-watch it now I might understand it better now that I have seen many different anime and understand more about the background of the series . I was also looking in to watching its sister series Top wo Nerae! which looks like it has some promise.

Best of the 90s would be Macross Plus for me. Fans of Cowboy Bebop might want to check this out.The creative talents of Bebop - Shinichiro Watanabe, Yoko Kanno and Keiko Nobumoto are behind this OVA.

Other notable mentions would include: Berserk, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Outlaw Star, Trigun and Vision of Escaflowne. I particularly like Evangelion for being controversial and brutal (thematically).

Looking back though, I'm choosing Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, GTO and Gundam Wing.

When I think of 90's Anime, I think of Cardcaptor Sakura. The art was nice, and the voices matched each character's personality. And not to mention that Sakura won the 2002 Japan Saimoe Tournament! ^-^

But this is just my opinion. ^-^
