Okay, finally got to see this episode and this one is definitely a keeper!

We can see there is definite good and bad side in this show. (Well maybe not good as we have yet to truly meet the ARUS.) But what with the unconditional surrender and annexation of a weaker neutral country, Dorssians ARE Space Nazis.

Haruto actually was an excellent MC for most of this episode. I loved the way he killed without regret and actually acted with some intelligence.

I find Saki annoying (she is beginning to remind me of Flay, and that's NEVER a good thing) and I hope that she and Shoko aren't going to just be the bumbling love interests, simply there to give emotional support.

It looks like Dorssia can't keep a country once they take it as the ARUS came out of nowhere and took JIOR back in one afternoon. Pretty much just as fast as it took for the Germans to take it, actually. And Dorssia is right, the JIOR military really does need to step up its game if THIS is how easy it is to take your country.

In this whole episode, I feel the most sorry for L-elf. Poor L-11! To have his body used against his will, and then to be framed for betraying his comrades and country. And it actually looked to be a connection between him and A-drei as A-3 seemed to not want to kill him and just wanted an explanation as to why. Now poor L-11 is alone unless he can clear his name.

My new theory about the other 4 Valvraves. There will be 4 other people including L-11 that Haruto can "switch" with. With each one, he pilots a new Valvrave.

Also, I think some people on the crew for this show are trekkies. Come on, the "resistance is futile" line, the mechs that sort-of resemble starships and can go warp speed? You're not even trying to hide it...

I am really excited for this series and it really reminds me of Gundam crossed with Code Geass. I can now see why Valvrave is called "The Liberator" as the Dorssians seem to want to take over anything in their way and enslave the populace. The MC can give you mood whiplash, but I still really like this series despite that. This was a 9.5/10 for me.

And keep the twists coming!

The way Shoko managed to survive was stupid.
The way that elf dude just got caught off-panel after taking the girl hostage in the mecha made little sense.
Heck, the MC not killing elf dude straight away after getting his body back was lol what.

But, you know what, I don't care because it's entertaining as hell.

Wow, didn't expect Shoko to be alive :/
Honestly, I think it'd be better if she stayed dead not because of any personal hate, but for Haruto's sake since he's troubled that he finds himself a "monster"and he doesn't deserve to be with her. Haruto's motive was also to avenge her death by destroying the Dorssian army and knowing that she's alive know kinda ruins it for me.

Of course “resistance is futile” was gg's choice of translation. Maybe they're trekkies. Or the person doing the translation. The mechs resembling starships… I consider myself a bit of a trekkie and yet I don't see it, sorry :-)

Yeah, Shoko surviving was stupid. That is unless the reason she's without a scratch is because she's the pilot of a Valvrave too? Interesting thought...

And I think L-elf gave himself up to the ARUS since he really has nowhere else to go right now. And honestly, I think the REAL Haruto can't kill anyone very easily. He's too much of a pacifist. It was only when he was in L-elf's body that he was able to kill without hesitation. I think that was on purpose as somehow Haruto and L-11's consciousness mixes to a degree with Haruto's as the dominant one. That's why he was used to violence in the beginning, but became pathetic when he went back into his own body.

Really nice episode, yeah I can't say I like Haruto but I like where the anime seems to be going. Let's see :-) And L11 seems to be a main character, I guess he sticks around as a POW and has to learn to live with that? Does he still have nanobots left over? Might be interesting to see.

The Sayajin Mecha was a bit silly, though.

No man, nothing every gets rid of the haters. It's like Sunrise mecha shows destiny to be both really popular and get thread shit to hell for things that people normally don't take nearly as much offense to. There's no such thing as a good Sunrise mecha show discussion.

Oh it wasn't very obvious or anything, it was just the way the bottom half of the mechs sort of jutted out as they did before they went to lightspeed/warp speed gave me trek vibes. But I'm probably over-thinking it.

Damn, you already hate her? what did she do wrong? also why does she remind you of flay?

Flay was a little spoilet brat, she was a daddy's girl. I didnt know which kind of version of gundam seed did you watch. Because Saki her personality is much much different than flay.

I also like how the MC's friend knows how to fly a heli on a freaking BIKE LICENCE.

I wonder how bikes in the future is like that such a thing is even possible.

If there's one thing I really don't like about this show so far is that whole "I'm becoming a monster thing/ it's not you, it's me" part at the end. That was kind of a dull turn of events. I thought that just for once maybe Sunrise will actually go full crazy and do something actually unpredictable and maybe have the MC actually confess then have both of them STAY as a couple during the entire series. THAT will be a new and unexpected touch to the mecha genre.

Besides saki, understands the situation very good, acts strong and doesnt react like a spoiled brat.

If i recall Flay, she was annoying, cried all the time, and everyone whas worng and bad and she was the only one who was right.

So i find it very stupid to compare Saki her personality with Flay. The most epic fail comparation ever. Dont be afraid. What saki has done this episode, is nothing annoying.

When she saw Shoko running to haruto, she walked away silently. She helped Haruto to change body's etc. So she was a great help.

Lets face it, if whe look at flay, tell me one thing that is comparable to saki?

Was ok with Haruto being all angry for vengeance but after Shoko lived (which we all knew she would) he kinda just lost all that interest i had in him like whats his motive to pilot now i guess continue to drive out the nazis?.

also found it funny how he unintentionally framed L Elf into a traitor while in his body.

Yeah I had a feeling Shouko didn't die, mostly because she showed up in the OP and seemed at least somewhat important. And when L-elf woke up and shot at his comrades, I knew it had to be Haruto in L-elf's body. I wonder how that works...hm. I love KajiKaji, but it's unfortunate his character turned out to be one of those obnoxious antagonists like the ones in Gundam Seed. Still, interesting to see him voice a bad guy since he usually voices good characters. That Valvrave. Very mysterious. Hope to see more about how it works. Wonder what's going to happen with L-elf. He's the only guy I actually care about right now in this anime. Poor guy, he is in the eyes of his comrades, a traitor :( I'm also looking forward to this "Liselotte" or however you spell her (?) name.

You forget Flay started off nice too. It's just something about her, like how dismissive she was of Shoko's death and then automatically latches on to Haruto the next day. However, I do hope she's a nice girl, and DOESN'T turn out to be another Flay.

I don't think comparing saki to flay is the worst comparison ever. I just finished watching gundam seed like three hours ago and saki reminded me of her right away. First it's this clingy thing she's suddenly decided to do once she learns Haruto can pilot the mecha, it's like when flay decided to "like" kira because he was a strong coordinator who could protect her and "beat up all the enemies". And also in episode 1 when Haruto was calling out for shoko (which in the end turned out that she was indeed hiding in the car) saki was a real b*tch to Haruto "Stop it she's dead", she didn't show any interest in him until she learned realized he was a good pilot.
Really it's mostly her clingy-ness to a guy who is clearly not interested that makes me think of flay.
I'll give you that saki isn't a friady-cat like flay. They are not exactly the same but they are similar and definitely comparable.

Exactly, he was pretty much a douche in the first episode.

So Haruto biting someone doesn't leave marks either maybe a little nano regeneration cells are in L-elf as well.

So does this mean self mutilation makes the Valvrave stronger? Also Since the Dorssia scientists took pictures of the core of Valrave does this mean they made the other four mechs from that info?

ahhhh ok. i see. i thought his 1st name started with L and he had an elf fetish or something.

with that solved, my new biggest gripe would have to be the fact that L-11 got taken into custody. did he not have new girl at gunpoint? did he just assume resistance was futile and surrender? seems kinda weird to just skip over that plot point.

L-11 is very smart, he knows when not to fight. He doesn't have very many options since both sides are after him.

Yeah, "elf" is just German for eleven. A-drei is A-3, Q-vier is Q-4, the black-haired guy is X-eins or X-1, and the blond Dearka look-alike is H-neun or H-9.
