So Excited about this. Overall, I have greatly enjoyed Madoka and I am looking forward to this movie. Whether you like it or not, Madoka has become a classic. It was and is is extremely popular in Japan, won numerous awards (More awards in fact than Gundam and Evangelion), and is making its studio thousands in merchandise sales. If this movie is great, it will help solidify Madoka's current status in the anime community, if this movie is bad then it will hurt all that has been done. I saw the previous Madoka movies and they were solid and I liked how the people who made them knew what made Madoka what it is.

Looking at the Trailer, I think the best way for this movie to work is to have Tatami Galaxy Style Time-Space stuff and I am hoping that the Last Movie will have an ending similar to that of Go Nagai's Devilman.

Hopefully I can make it to the premiere. Please have a showing in America like the other movies!

Agreed, as it is often brought up when discussing new anime for comparison purposes.

Yes, the Second Movie was the last bit of the TV Series with some added material. The Third Movie is completely new.

How can something become a classic when it is not even that old? Also while I am not a huge fan of Madoka I know it is a good show, I just don't like that genre. The whole cutesy little girls and tranforming like back in Sailor Moon.

Its a good show in my books but not even close to a classic like Akira.

To use a Baseball analogy - it's like referring to players as "future hall of famers." Nobody knows for a fact that they'll be voted in, but with some players it's obvious. Same sorta thing applies here. I'm pretty sure people will still be talking about Madoka in 10-20 years.

As for Akira - I agree that it is one of the all time greats, but it's hard to compare it to something like Madoka. Would you compare Schindler's List to Pulp Fiction? Both can be considered great films but it's a little hard to judge them on the same scale.

I went to the Madoka showing in Los Angeles. I enjoyed it. I hope they bring the third movie to Los Angeles as well. I remembered how at the end of the movie, they gave us a preview for the third movie (and yes, it is all new material); everyone in the theater just lost control, lol.

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Considering how successful they were, I find this highly likely. There are still some scheduled showings for the first two movies.

Heh, I remember watching the preview in a theater in LA last year(there were people from other cities there too, who had taken the train or driven with friends, so I thought it was a nice experience), and just like guyklc said, people went nuts. :P I wasn't expecting the things shown in the trailer/preview at all~

The first 2 movies were more visually appealing recaps of the original series with some added material. The upcoming 3rd one is a direct sequel to the original series... so a new story, yes.

I meant more a fight about whether or not it is a classic or will become a classic. I know this type of thing can lead to long arguments.

Because they are basically just the show edited into 2 movies. The 3rd one is the first to feature all new content.

Ahahahaha oh god no. Us UK people never get anything nice and, even when we do, it's usually a one-off occurrence with little to no exposure or advertising.

See you all in 2014 I guess. Then again I've gone this long without finding out any Eva 3.0 spoilers, so maybe it'll be safe.

Haven't seen the other 2 yet, but seeing as they were recap for the most part, I'll still be keeping an eye on premieres (though I very much doubt I'll see a premiere of this in Iowa...) But either way, Summer, you're looking pretty hot.
