| It just feels too forced. the MC is the only short fat kid on the show. I understand if they want to avoid some cliches ( Like a shut-in MC, unpopular guy, etc ), but damn. I just can't take this series too seriously because of the MC's design. And now it looks like there's a love triangle. How much more ridiculous can it get. I'd rather they have made the MC your typical cliche MC where the unpopular guy gets with the popular girl, then let the rest of the story carry the series ( In this case, the cool accel world ) |

| Hate character design of main character, because the art style is completely different from every other character. (and probably because of personal real life preferences) I would have preferred a generic character design because I'm boring like that. |

| Like what people said before...I can't stand the main character because of his seiyuu. I don't mind that he's fat, his personality, or the ordeals he faces. In a way, I felt sympathetic to his situation. However, Kaji Yuki's voice grates my nerves like no tomorrow after I watched No.6. Whenever I hear that voice, I instantly think of whiny Shion who suddenly did a 180 in personality and beliefs in one of the worst (disappointing) anime I've seen in a while. It doesn't help when Kaji uses the same voice for other characters in recent series (Guilty Crown...couldn't get past ep 1 because of him voicing Shu, Towa no Quon movie 2: the instant I heard his voice I was like zomg.....NUUUU) I want to forget that I watched No.6 but that same voice keeps popping up to remind me of it Dx. Well, at least his voice is instantly recognizable to me...(didn't know he was seiyuu for the main in Accel World until I heard him speak =___= ) |

| I'm another person who couldn't care less that he's fat, but I find the huge difference between his design and every other character very jarring. Also, my first impression of his personality is pretty terrible, which makes me dislike him far more than his design does. |

| Personally, I don't think I would have even bothered to watch the first episode if he wasn't so different from the normal cookie cutter MC. Though I do find it strange that two hot girls are crushing on him when he doesn't seem to have done anything positive with his life up to now. (Unless she really is just a friend and the other one is just using him of course). But that's as much a personality issue as a physical one. |

| I actually don't care that he's fat, because it's rare. But if they wanted him to be fat, at least draw him seriously! Because he just looks like some chibi pig in the middle of a bunch of people who actually look realistic. I don't care that he's fat, I just wish he was more realistically drawn... |

| I have a problem because I don't want to watch a fat protagonist the entire show. I will be especially pissed if it goes through the "accept that he's fat blah blah blah" stuff. Being overweight is not a good thing and should not be acceptable, unless of course due to circumstances. If he actually loses weight that would be nice but it won't happen I bet. I'll be watching it regardless as it's a good and enjoyable show. |

| I don't have a problem with him being fat, its just that his character is kind of on-offish. as for his design, I welcome it, as I am a fan of cartoonish designs plus thats friggin simon's face, thats hint enough he'll better himself later on, which I hope he does. While it makes sense that he'd go into a virtual world to escape reality, I liked his version of it better than say, keima from TWGOK... up until his friend showed up. I was under the impression he was alone but he has a few friends, one who makes him lunch even. to add on, he was sort of a dick to them and never apologized. I fortunaltly forgot about that when the cyberword building was being done, but thinking back, I would like some better development. also the fact that he seems abit too whiney. I mean, look, I know he has a inferiority complex, but crying over his high score being topped isn't reason to cry. thats pretty much my only gripe with him, but the good outshines the bad long enough for me to enjoy the show's 2 episodes. I expect him to imporve in personality as time goes on, as that'll be a big factor in wheter he fails or successeds at being a underdog character. Him being fat is hardly signifigant. |

| To say the truth I have no problem at all with this, most people in anime are always thin and only "a bit smaller", it's because every single character is like this and no one of the anime I ever saw had the characteristica of this character. He kinda has to be like this to show even more how weak he is in real live and how big his desire is to change something about himself and not stay like this, if he would be like shu in guilty crown (btw they have the same seiyuu > u < "" ) you couldn't see his wish of change like it was with shu, he didn't exactly want to change he just wanted to have a peaceful live and get the hell out of that terrorist stuff, he was too scared of that, but Haruyuki doesn't want to run away from the accelerator world. Therefore they couldn't use a typical character design and had to use that character design. That's what I personally think ; 3 ; " |

He thinks of himself as a disgrace just because he's chubby and gets bullied? It's his own damn fault for not getting his friends (which he fortunately has) to help him or reporting them to someone of authority. I know plenty of fat guys that are nerds who stand up for themselves and don't take shit from people. P.S : He's lucky that chiyuri is still his friend even after what he did to the lunch she offered him. |

| I can think of a few reasons: 1. People look at him as an audience surrogate, as he is the MC. They feel offended and whine about it over the internet. 2. People would prefer a generic bishounen over a chubby/short character -- superficial reasoning be damned. 3. His design differs wildly from the other characters. This argument has a grain of truth to it, but the net world and Brain Burst have clashing art styles as well, so that platform is moot. Personally I don't mind him, though his incessant whining and self-hatred can be a little grating. At least he's not one of those CLAMP noodle people. |

| I find that the MC and the seiyuu are a perfect fit for each other - just makes the character all that much weaker and how much potential growth he has to achieve. Concerning the design... What better way to make the character stand out from the rest. If you were to line up different MCs - Who would stand out the most to you? Outside of the 'Slice of Life' genre, most characters aren't that believable - their personalities to a certain extent, maybe. There'll always be plenty of bishounen characters for people to "drool" over, before and after this MC. |

| I think it is a change of pace to have a fat main character for once but still, the design that he is so god damn short and so round just looks awkward. If he was a little bit taller it would be great. |
