Heres a few titles from the top of my head that need fansubs.

Deep Blue Fleet - OVA, 32 40 minute episodes

Gamba no Bouken - TV, 26 episodes

Hana no Ko Lunlun - TV, 50 episodes

Momoko: Kaeru no Uta ga Kikoeru yo (Yes Firechick, I also want to see this movie BAD!)

Arcadia of my Youth movie (Yes, I know it's on BakaBT, but that version is TERRIBLE. Ripped from the old CPM release, which was taken from a bad laserdisc source, since the movie has high production values, an upgrade is needed)

I don't think there's english sub available for Astro Boy (1963), which is a shame, I would LOVE to see that show.

The Kabocha Wine only received a few subbed episodes if I'm not mistaken, then sorta faded into obscurity. Raw torrents exist, yet are sadly dead. Would really like to get a hold of this show. :(

Yeah, Saizen somehow lost their translator for these series.
As usual, seems that getting an translator interested on translating old anime series is the hardest task, and there's no garanty that he/she'll stay to the end. :/

Yeah, very true. It's always painful to see someone drop out, but at the same time I could kind of empathize with the daunting task of translating 95 episodes. I know a guy who fan-subbed Maison Ikkoku in the 90s via laserdisc and an Amiga computer. Took him a few years if I recall correctly. It certainly takes quite the dedication.

Here's some random stuff that looks neat and would be nice to see subs for.

Animentary: Ketsudan - 26 Episodes (TV) (WW2 documentary that looks at the various decision points faced by Japanese commanders during the war.)
Bad Boys - 5 Episode (OVA) (Awesome show about a rich kid who decides he wants to join a biker gang.)
Dallos - 4 Episodes (OVA) (Moon colonists fighting for independence. All existing subs are based off HK DVDs.)
Download: Namu Amida Butsu wa Ai no Uta - 1 Episode (OVA) (Because more Rintarou stuff is always good.)
F - 31 Episodes (TV) (There's some subs for earlier episodes but they're -really- bad.)
Honoo no Alpenrose - 20 Episodes (TV) (Licca, I'm looking at you. Do this. Please?)
Kasei Yakyoku - 4 Episodes (OVA) (Taisho era romance story about the love between an independent wealthy woman and a gangster. There's no good raws for this at the moment, sadly.)
Paris no Isabel - 13 Episodes (TV) (Production values on this show are low, but what I've seen of it is kinda neat.)

Well guys, if you find an anime which isn't subbed yet but dubbed on an other language like german, spanish or whatever, please inform me via pm because i want to search for members for subbing such shows (For example, Spoon Oba-san is dubbed completely on italian, and the raws are also available, so it could be translated by an italian. Understand how i mean?) So just let me know if you find something out^^ (My primar language is german)
Trying to watch all available anime series so you won't have to anymore, the list of anime I can recommend is still in progress, tho

Yes it's a free torrent tracker, and the Leda on bakabt has both english and russian sub's.

Just a tip for the future, always check anidb if there are a subbed release before making posts about it, anidb are for the most part a pretty reliable source of information for subbed/dubbed releases.

Haven't seen anyone here mentioning Osamu Tezuka's "Jungle Taitei", and probably a lot of other animes based on his works (I haven't dig into that direction very much).

I don't know if any of these have been mentioned.

High School Kimengumi
Nanako SOS
Shouwa Ahozoushi Akanuke Ichiban
Yoroshiku Mechadoc
Yume Senshi Wingman
Sasuga no Sarutobi

I highly doubt any of them will be subbed anytime soon, but they all seem worthy of mention here.

I don't know why but the majority of those unsubbed series everyone mentions here are really-really long.

High School! Kimengumi = 86 ep + movie
Yume Senshi Wingman = 47
Dokaben = 163 ep
and so on.

It's really difficult to find anyone who want to dedicate years of his life or basically all free time to fansub series that are that long. You can do a math yourself: with releasing one ep a week, which is absolutely unrealistic, and having 50 ep in total or more, how many years it'll take? Not so many people are crazy enough to take up that challenge, and if you look around, lots of projects get stalled due to various reasons. So mostly it's fansubs that consist of the really dedicated fans of the series or bigger fansubs, such as Saizen or L-E, that may allow themselves the luxury of taking on a long project.

Then, there's one more problem with the old anime: where to get the raws. So even if you have a willing translator and everyone else who wants to work on the show, it can't be done without the raws.

@zetsu_shoren: Tokimeki Tonight will be continued as it's only 8 ep left of the series. Saitei fansubs ceased to exist due to RL matters, but I found a translator willing enough to do it. Probably, it'll be some kind of a side project for now, but you can expect more activity after Captain Tsubasa will be finished (right now it's 87 ep out of 128 released, so you can count it out yourself when :P).

Isn't the vast majority of all old-school series at least 40 episodes in length?

That does make me worry about where the current industry is going, first normalising the 12 episode format, and now producing tons and tons of "shorts series".

My hard disk crashed and unfortunately and i lost quite a bit, like anime. Im kinda rebuilding, but i'm kinda at lost for an ninja OVA from the 80s/early 90s. It was pretty similar to ninja scroll or basilisk, the influence my ninja pulp writer Futaro Yamada was kinda apparent.

The main character is a red haired ninja, he gets many allies among the way including a ninja who had 2 ninja monkeys with guyver-like reversed wrist blades. He fight many enemy ninjas who have this high Ninja Scroll/Basilisk/Futaro Yamada flavour, including a bug/reptile/predator faced ninja that shoots acidic sticky goo from his face, someone who makes portals and many more special ninjas. These ninjas are trying to Resurrect their ancient Warlord who can still talk throughout his floating head and communicatie to them if he was Zordon from the power rangers. I think in the end he was revealed to be an alien? It was a OVA series of aprox. 5 episodes long, never left Japan, and also remained unsubbed at the time. I had dowloaded raws from somewhere. It was pretty awesome so im gutted i lost it. I hope anyone can help me find it and i hope download links are still open and available.

Im pretty sure it wasn't any of these:
Karasu Tengu Kabuto TV
Karasu Tengu Kabuto: The Golden Eye Beast
Yotoden: Chronicle of the Warlord Period
Wrath of the Ninja: The Yotoden Movie
Karas
Samurai Gun
Blood Reign: Curse of the Yoma

Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls
Ninja Resurrection
Ninja Scroll
Ninja Scroll TV
Ninja Scroll Burst
Ninja Scroll Kocho
Dororo TV
Dororo

Puppet Princess
Ninja Ryuukenden
Sword for Truth
Ninpuu Kamui Gaiden
The Dagger of Kamui
Ninja Slayer
Afro Samurai

Thanks for your guess, but unfortunately not what im looking for.

Setting was feudal Japan, like i said very Ninja Scroll-like or Basilisk-like. It felt pretty much like a Futaro Yamada ninja pulp novel.

Im thinking... Maaaaaaybe it had something like Mizoku/Mizokage/Mizaku or something like it. But a big maybe.

After a long time searching the web, i finally found it.

It's called 'Kyomu Senshi Miroku'. Made originally by the Ken Ishikawa, who is behind 'Getter Robo' series. It's apperently part of a even larger series of manga series that are connected together, overall called 'Kyomu Senki'.

Hi.

So I recently discovered the classic dorama Oshin, and some of you might know (or not) it also had an anime adaptation:
http://myanimelist.net/anime/9866/Oshin

And it's typically the kind of project I'd like to translate. Unfortunately I'm still a learner of Japanese and I can't translate without the Japanese captions/subtitles. So if anyone has them or could point me to them (or even better directly upload them on kitsunekko), I'd be grateful.

Thanks very much in advance.
