It's not just 'another regular old harem', it's pretty much the archetype. Up there with Tenchi Muyo! in terms of its impact on the genre.

'Tis a shame I ran out of money after buying volume 6 and stopped reading it after that (6 years ago! I'm gonna go cry now), even if I did watch the rest of the anime.

Oh wow! I'm almost done reading the manga. I'm on vol.12 now. It's pretty entertaining though I personally like Ai Yori Aoshi better.

Well, this will be completely pointless... still, Love Hina was my first ever manga, and so out of nostalgia I'll still check it out.

Get over it...pretty much everything that comes out nowadays are money-grubbing products and I'm not only talking about the pointless spin-offs. Does the term "moe" ring a bell? Anything that has it, no matter how much of a copy it is to previous shows/mangas of the same kind could be a bestseller in Japan. And that's only the goddamn truth.

If that's the case I'd rather have some "pointless money-grubbing one-shot" of good ol' Love hina thank you.

If they stopped printing it then it means they don't want your money so you shouldn't feel bad for downloading it from the internetz. Problem solved.

Believe it or not, must of the nowadays Harem manga (some ones grater than others) are based on the archetype that Love Hina stabilshed. It was epic on its won time (while ago~)
Otherwise, I don't see the point of a one-shot so long time after... It wouldn't bother me, I mean, seeing again Motoko-chan would be great, but, it's kind of stupid~

IIRC, wasn't it the Tenchi Muyo series that defined the harem genre before LH, having come before it and all? I'm gonna need confirmation since I have yet to watch Tenchi, but if Isekai is any indication I'm more inclined to believe it.

Oh, and the one-shot would be kind of amusing. What're the chances Akamatsu goes all out and strengthens the connections between LH and Negima beyond what is already given? X3

this is great. I loved the manga, and the mangaka series in particular so I can't wait to see what this will be about. Hopefully something like Naru having Kentaro's child or something

Tenchi Muyo just turned into a load of spin-offs with alternate universes and sci-fi trappings, right?

Love Hina defined harem because it created/used LOADS of tropes

I always prefered Tenchi Muyo and its spin offs over Love Hina (well, up until tenchi In Tokyo and GXP)
I read all of the Love Hina manga. I didn't love it. I actually forced myself to finish it, despite the fact it meant me buying all 14 volumes.
It was not my cup of tea. I didn't find Naru to be that endearing of a character and Keitaro was annoying.
I have the anime box set, but cannot get through the series at all. It is funny at times but just overhyped because of the fact it was one of the first harem manga/anime.
It could have something with me being a girl and not finding some of the smutty humour funny. It could also be the fact that I just didn't like the female characters much.

Tenchi pwned it just because of Ryoko. And the sci-fi elements.

BUT STILL! I will be reading the oneshot because I like to torture myself by reading/watching things I don't like for the sake of keeping up with the anime and manga industry.

The difference between Tenchi Muyo and Love Hina is that in Love Hina the male lead actually picks a girl at the end. Tenchi Muyo stays a harem through every spin off, alternative version, ova, sequel...etc.

With that said what are they gonna talk about in this one shot? They finished the manga with a solid ending so the only thing I can think of is
.

In this one-shot, our hero is faced with a new challenge as he is yet again launched into space by a punch...

Oh, wait...

But seriously, what can they possibly offer at this point? Perhaps a spin-off.

Ah, Love Hina, back when Ken Akamatsu wasn't part of the "never ending shounen" crowd.

irony is fun or something

anyway, yay Love Hina lives! Maybe it will be a new ending that doesn't defeat the purpose of tons of character development? (or at least that's what I remember when I read it like 5+ years ago)

Yes, and Negima is also one of my favorites, I follow it chapter by chapter.

I like Bleach and Negima and Naruto, but that doesn't mean I like the fact that they are all never ending manga.

I wish they would ALL hurry the fuck up and end.

P.S. Don't try to be smart with someone you don't even know.

Probably it's just an Ema-chapter or an extra epilogue, but since everything Akamatsu-sensei does seems to turn out great I'll definitely read it :D Anything related to my #1 favorite Manga is welcome
