Ya know, I think if possible, I would like to time travel back to 1999, and not just because it was one of those years when Toonami and anime on weekday afternoons were at it's prime. No, not just for nostalgiac reasons. I would like to time travel back because of the fact tsundere never existed as a trendy word to loosely characterize girls who seem to be bitchy and embarrased about being in denial with something.

Also, what suprises me about this thread so far is that everyone found several things about this show funny You all found the janitor falcon punching the dowser goth dude out of nowhere right when the creepy music stopped funny. You all found Maya's facial expressions funny. But none of you found Uchida's Tarzan yell while breaking into the window thing funny at all?! I mean, what was he holding on too?!

I love love love this series already. (:

Definitely my favorite for this summer anime season. Highschool of the Dead is good, but it has too much ecchi-ness for me. Plus I love comedy & this show makes me laugh like crazy all the time.

I need moooaar of this now!

I love this show. It's probably my favorite along with Amagami SS.
Looking forward to more epicness!

It's probably going to be 13 episodes long, like Senkou no Night Raid (which was a total derp show). Makes me sad just thinking about it...
But I don't know if this show'd still be entertaining if it'd be 24 episodes...

Anyway, 5/5.

Yup, Maya, is excellent. <3

So anyway, that assistant principal or whatever she is, why do I get the feel that she will be intentionally involved in the opening of that dimensional rift? ^^;
Or if not, they're up to something else, w/e, as long as Maya's there, I don't think I care~

Best anime of this season for me without a doubt.
+1

I love the mystery, riddle, comedy, and twist blend with very nicely in this 2 eps so far... hope its not disappoint later.

Btw why no (yet) new title from Anime no Chikara announced ?
I hope this is not the end from this wonderful project.

Aliens? Haha, okay. This show is crazy.

Question: if the time agent is from 2012, and Maya is currently in 1999, why did he say that the him on TV was him from ten years ago? Was he being very general (hard to believe when this anime is really specific on dates) or was it a bad translation?
He was talking about himself, about the kid that was bending spoons on the TV show. Why would it be a bad translation? He was younger 13 years ago... I don't get what you are getting at.

Kinda funny how my face was filled with doubt for the whole episode. I was waiting for this show to trip and fall sooner, but second episode was actually even better than the first one.
I mean, it's still pretty interesting, fun to watch and even bit creepy at times. It presents questions and builds the setting and plot while not taking itself too seriously.

It still has all the time in the world to make a mess of itself, but at this early point, it's still the most promising summer show yet.

I love how they didn't try to make you take the whole aliens/apocalypse/time travel thing seriously, and instead let the exact cheesiness of Fumiaki's story sink in. Maya needs to pull back on the DV, but at least she does it because she genuinely is annoyed and offended easily. Looks like the aim here is to make an over-done scenario fun and clever.

Aside from the fact that even anime has now entered the 2012 phase ( which is a piss off imo) I still love this show despite that fact.

Maya's facial expressions were just EPIC in this ep xD

Exactly. Thirteen years ago, not ten. It's not important (like I said, maybe he was generalising by saying "a decade"... ignoring that it wasn't translated that way) but it popped out at me as weird.

Well a lot of questions from the first episode were answered. He's a time agent from 2012 come back to 1999 to destroy Nostradomas' Key and save the future. The other teachers killed the principal to stop him from destroying the key. Why? Just because Maya decided to find her father's killer and help destroy the key why is she taking classes? Aliens? Talk about a weird show. So, of course I liked it. :)

Good greif, that cellphone explaination was complex!

I agree with the girl in glasses; I think Maya secretley enjoys the occult and her curiosity out-weighs her alledged disslike, why else would she watch bits and peices on TV?

I bet the key is actually something really cliche, like a person (likely Maya).

Just think, people imagined the world to be that futuristic bytime the year 2000 back before the 21 century, I remember.
I also remember people panicing back in 1999 as the world was supposidly going to end.

I was thinking about that myself, but Maya couldn't be the key because she already took a picture of herself and it didn't turn out as a picture of a peaceful future. I'm pretty sure it's going to be some freaky ass object that just comes out of nowhere, lol.

Aliens, time agents, Nostradamus' prophecy, ghosts, zombies, supernatural powers, probably some secret organisation in the following episodes - there's a limit to how much bullshit I can take.
Well, even if premises are retarded, the whole search for the Key might still be interesting. However, if Maya continues to act like a half-baked tsundere, I'm gonna drop it.

Funniest episode I've seen this season so far.

"you really do love it, you're such a tsun--"
"THAT WORD DIDN'T EXIST IN 1999!"

funny previews.

Um, she didn't take a picture of herself thinking "I will destroy this," so all that picture says is what will normally happen if she does nothing to herself.

True enough. I still don't think it's going to be her. Or, more accurately, I hope not because that would be a very cliche solution.

So is there any reason why they have real kids laying in the grass for the ED? Is it just lazy animators who would rather put some kids laying down instead of animating something or is it something to do with the plot (ie: its their kids in the future or some shit like that)

That's probably the biggest curiosity in the whole show for me.

Another great episode. Maya's facial expressions are epic and I love her character. I couldn't stop laughing when Uchida was chasing her naked through the woods as well as many other great parts. I'm not crazy about the sci-fi twist but they used it for comedic effect pretty well. The scenes with the ghost were actually pretty creepy.

All in all this show is wonderful so far and is fast becoming the anime highlight of my week.

I liked this episode, it was funny. Although, it reminds me of Scooby-do, which is not a bad thing, and I just hope the plot keeps on progressing. I also hope Fumiaki is hiding his strengths up until now, and maybe exposes it in a future encounter. If he doesn't, it would be just lame. lol

hold up, i think i noticed something, the setting of this anime is in 1999, correct?

and the future dude is from 2012, correct?

dude comes to 1999 and says something along the lines of "that boy you saw, JUST NOW on TV IN 1999, was me 10 YEARS ago", did he not say something like that (he did, cuz i rewatched it to make sure i was correct)?

well then, 2012 - 10 = 2002, so ten years ago would have been 3 years into the future, according to this setting... am i wrong? did i misread something? (this is not a rhetorical question, i would like to know)

so either he came from the year 2009, or he went back to the past of 2002...

I think he was just generalizing :\. 2012 - 1999 = 13 years. I guess he said 10 years because he didn't want to be exact (like how people say "5 minutes ago" but what happened is like 3 or 6 minutes ago; except its in years now -.-)

Nice War of the Worlds tripods. I kid, I actually really liked the look of them though. Cool design.

So I'm not sure whats going on 100%, the story isn't complex it just explains it a little fast. I'm a big fan so far though, very enjoyable series with a serious and comical edge. Still my favorite this season.
