THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
While the first episode of the broadcast version did leave me feeling a bit concerned about the quality, the second episode erased all that doubt and left me feeling pleasantly satisfied. Episode wise, I enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next.

This episode was another awesome one as expected!

omfg ozma's itano circus/missle spam scene was awesome, the music pieces used was epic for that fight.

I wish a faster group was subbing this; it's the kind of show you have to struggle to wait for. But it's also the kind of show where you don't want to miss even one line watching a RAW :\

Yeah I'm just going to watch this raw (i know like ten words...) if the time it took for episode 1 to get out is the norm. Especially if the actions scenes continue to be as good as the ones in the first two eps! Pity one of the 3 groups releasing Geass in under 20 hours isn't working on this :(

Anyway that fight scene from 2:44 to 6:44 is just epic on every level, animation was awesome, music was perfect (already much better BGM by Kanno than Dtb) and it was quite intense with some great action choreography.

I can't think of a better first two episodes for a mecha series for a long time*, what a start.

* Gundam 00 had a very slow start, Geass was at an 8 level not a 9/9.5 like Macross, for Gurren lagann episode 3 was the first "wow" episode with 7 being the second and 8 being fucking amazing.

Wow, that was awesome :D Now this series knows how to use CG a lot better than something like Blassreiter, LOL I also like how the city is modeled after San Francisco ^^

Great action scene, great character scenes, awesome music. There were a lot of interesting BGM pieces scattered throughout, such as when Ozma and Alto enter the underground SMS area and the scenes in the aftermath of the battle. Oh, and the nex-episode BGM is cool. I really look forward to the OSTs from this!

I also LOL'd at the scene in car where they are listening to Fire Bomber XD Yay Macross 7! :D

Kathy reminds me a bit of Misa Hayase from original macross.

This anime has a big chance of becoming best mecha show in recent years...looking forward to next episodes.

Glad a fast group has entered the scene on this one. It was becoming painful seeing other anime get better subbing than Macross F.

Episode 2 was really fantastic yet again, retaining stellar production values, a super-fast pace and appreciable characterisation. I think I can now safely say that Ranka is unequivocally cute. I liked Alto's character more after this episode as well, and he and Ranka demonstrated some chemistry in the cockpit scene. Ozma is shaping up well to take up the mantle of the obligatory badass pilot. I still really hate the character designs for practically all the minor characters through. Music was great this episode.

Wow, the action scenes and animation are absolutely fantastic, and the characters really have something attractive about them. Very good series so far, probably my favourite of the saga after Macross Plus and the first Macross - far better than Macross Zero/7/II !

Can't wait to buy the OST, too ! Yoko Kanno finally came back to her classical roots, and listening to some of these tracks, I just feel that Macross F's BGM is going to be as awesome as Brain Powerd or Escaflowne :)

Oh and by the way, the French sentences written by Sherylwith a lipstick on the mirror were in PERFECT French, it's the first time in an anime that I see a full sentence in good French with no grammatical/rhetorical or vocabulary mistake. Seems like they actually hired some French people to translate it ;)

It's perfect.

If the quality in term of characters, story, animation and bgm is this high until the end.... CGeass won't even count as competion!

Word on the street cough2chcough is that it's set for 25 episodes for now. For now implying that it very well could do a Code Geass, Clannad, Gundam 00 in having a second season announced while airing or after it finishes.

Never watch anything longer than 26 episodes, 27 max

Any new season usually just ruin it, especially the animation, IMO of course

How would a new season ruin the animation? For instance you do realize the animation for Code Geass R2 is much better than the first series? Much more fluid and with less panning shots.

yeah and longer series doesnt meant they will suck, like have u seen the 1st macross or macross 7? macross 1st was like 36? and macross 7 was 49 + the ova + the movie? and alot more series like hayate no gotoko is 52ish with a second season on the way and dgray man is going for 77 right now and the action hasnt stop since ep 1.
so, long episode anime is not bad always
well not like naruto anyway lol ( to much fillers)

well if u watch the 1st macross and macross 7 u will see some links of them, and u will understand the intro better too ( the intro is what happend in the 1st macross), and the song on the car where saotome aoto listens while riding the car on the highway is the song that the star of macross 7, Nekky Basara, sings while fighting the enemy

Wow... the CG mecha in this show are just plain amazing. The Valkyries outshine even the VF-0 of Macross 0, and those were some well done mechs. AND, unlike Gundam 00, they aren't an army in and of themselves. There's something about the rarely humaniod mecha of Macross that is just amazing... Oh, and the plot here is a nice satisfying "wtf is going on ALIEN ATTACK" rather than a nation vs nation commentary :p. Very nice ep, but :spoiler: I was hoping the kid would get another run in the Valk :/spoiler:

Well, giving this a 6/10 while giving Lucky Star a 10/10 is a bit odd in my mind, but to each his own I guess.

>>anyone knows what (and why/how) Ranka "saw" at the beginning of the episode? When the alien was about to beat the crap out of Alto :p

Yeah I'm still wondering about that myself, it happened so fast that I almost missed it on the first watch, and yet it seems like something that could be significant. It looks like the red squad-leader Vajra destroying a ship as seen out the window of another ship. Some kind of supressed memory?

Pft. So far I only think this series is fine. I never said it was bad. As the plot advances the score will probably go up (or down), as I think it's a bit early to judge it now.
And you giving the Mai-Hime specials a masterpiece rating beats me...

Also, Lucky Star was awesome and deserves that 10. And I hate hot dogs.

Well I thought it was bloody brilliant.

This is however a Macross F episode 2 discussion thread, not Lucky Star nor Mai Hime.
I might end up giving this one 10/10, who knows... But so far I just think it's an OK series.

Meh.

I can't decide if I like this or not.

I think I'll keep watching, but only becuase I've started it now...

It's okay. Some parts are good, some aren't. Some parts are good when watching and not good to look back on, and vice versa.

So far, I too feel that Lucky Star is better =] Yet, I suppose, it took half the series for me to get into LS, so it may be the same for this...
