 The production committee behind the Tokyo Babylon 2021 television anime announced on Monday that it has cut ties with everyone involved in the production.The decision was reached alongside CLAMP following an internal investigation triggered by plagiarism accusations. The investigation uncovered potential plagiarism beyond the November costume design incident, and the two sides agreed to restart the project from the ground up. Tokyo Babylon 2021 was initially slated for an April 2021 release. The current official website and Twitter will close on April 30, and new production staff will be announced at a later date. The anime will adapt CLAMP's fantasy shoujo manga Tokyo Babylon. CLAMP serialized the manga in the South and Monthly Wings magazines between 1990 and 1993. A sequel manga titled X ran in Monthly Asuka from March 1992 to March 2003. Madhouse adapted Tokyo Babylon into an original video anime, releasing an episode in October 1992 and March 1994, and produced an anime film for X in 1996. They did offer apologies/thanks to the cast because they weren't involved in the plagiarism. The thing is, they want to start from the ground up, which means handing creative control over to a new studio(s). That studio then might decide they want to do a recast to fit their vision, or they may call some people back and recast other roles. We can only speculate at this point. |

| Tokyo Babylon is one of those adaptations that could return the loyalty deserved to shoujo for its good speculation about society tied to complicated relationships, but this production was not trusted. I've seen a bit of GoHands' work, and it seems to me that they do a good job with scene angles and body movements, but other than that, I don't think it correctly captures the essence that I should be expressing. A good drawing, but a somewhat monotonous production. I don't want to sound like an impulsive fanatic. I just think that if Tokyo Babylon gets adapted it will have a production that does it justice even if it takes a little longer. I don't think clamp will back down quickly. |

| Like I've said before, I rather wait more a couple of years than get a half-assed adaptation by GoHands. Also apparently the plagiarism allegations are legit so honestly I totally agree with CLAMP's decision, I hope the next studio that picks the series does it justice. |

| Saw this coming already. While GoHands' efforts are pretty much decent based on the PVs, their style and cinematography doesn't really suit this. If there's something, I hope they consider carrying over composer Noriyuki Asakura to the reboot. It's been a while since he composed for an anime. |

| That's a mess that could have easily been avoided. Please enlighten me because I have only read two manga by CLAMP so my knowledge is limited but are this series' prospects so high that the producers deemed restarting the whole thing to be a potentialy profitable solution? |

I dont get the need to modernize it, we can still follow a story at any period in time but for some reason they had too and the copy pasted everything and now are in the toilet. What a waste. i just hope it will get better and does not get any worse. |

| It's not even surprising that giving a project to GoHands will incure THIS levels of atrocity. Hand Shakers and W'z looking almost the same, because they're in the same universe. SCARD and K looking almost the same, inspiration from K, because their "glorious" 3DCG production is a one-way street and cannot be diversified. Disappointing, please give another studio and a new production committee that can do the job better. |
