CNN: well according to officials, he was an avid, addict Counter Strike player. that totally made him shoot people in Munich.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/24/europe/germany-munich-shooting/

i knew it was too good to not have news about a criminal playing videogames.

coming up next: he loved eating bread.

edit: CNN quickly changed the title. i wonder why /sarcasm
a re-report by ktla (the article is by cnn)
http://ktla.com/2016/07/24/18-year-old-suspect-in-munich-shooting-played-violent-video-games-had-mental-illness-officials/

A search of his belongings revealed he was also an avid player of first-person shooter video games, including “Counter-Strike,” officials said Sunday.
-CNN

yes, the fact that he enjoyed Counter Strike is totally relevant.

You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Sigh, nowhere in the video or article you linked are violent video games said to be a direct cause of the shooting, in comparison bullying or mental illness are mentioned more in the research mentioned in the news.

Terrible thread title, Jesus Christ.

well, turns out they changed the title again.
the title first said, "Munich Shooter played videogames and had mental issues"
or something along those lines in the very title, as if videgames had any role in the shooting.

edit: ktla re-reported what cnn said:

It has relevance to violence since it's virtual violence. Someone who is addicted and is mentally unstable to some degree can be violent irl due to video games.

t. Tokyo Ghoul fan.

Videogames don't make kids violent. If that were the case, why do you not hear about mentally unstable CS:GO players (and there are quite a lot) shooting up schools and other places more often than any other shooting?

There definitely is a rage factor a associated with video games. We've all seen people become extremely violent while playing a game because they either got pulled away from it by their parents or they lost the match, etc

This rarely contributes to real world violence though. I can't say i'm surprised by where the blame is coming from. Doesn't Germany have some pretty nasty censorship controls for their games?

what is ''t.''?

for the same reason why the majority of population aren't murders and criminals. Most people are too afraid of the consequences, to do something about their urges. There is a big difference between wanting to kill people and feed your rage, and actually doing it. Only few belong to the latter. Many factors can drive someone to the edge, virtual violence can be a part of said factors.

Video games only lead to spontaneous short bursts of violence(e.g. smashing keyboards, furniture and whatnot), the frustration caused by games cannot have such a long term influence on the person as to make him murder and injure countless people. If we're talking about a murderous psychopath then there is simply no need to even mention video games since they're pretty much irrelevant considering the person in question already most likely has murderous tendencies.Germany need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop wasting time and resources on the harsh censoring of video games(and other forms of entertainment for that matter).

It was Thomas de Maizière that started it, the police did a good job of handling the whole situation, his speech started out good explaining how the kid had issues, and mobbing might have been a factor.

Everything good till that point and then at the very very end...

"and video games"

*facedesk*

Do brutal video games dull you towards brutal images, without a doubt. So do action movies, horror movies, and so on. Heck, chess is a pretty brutal game, you even sacrifice pieces.

It's a bit annoying how politicians pull the shooter game card every single time.

PS: Thomas de Maizière is the Home Secretary, can't stand him due to hiding facts, or simply not stating them how they are. He's the guy that would lie about robbing a bank, but you see the bills falling out of his pockets.

So it isn't video games that made it happen.

It was the ban. We should make it so no one ever gets banned again. We all preach tolerance but we practice intolerance by banning people from things, and then shootings happen.

The thing with these people who seem to blame violent video games for all sorts of shit is that it feels like they've never heard of non-violent video games. Like, have these people ever seen a kid play Harvest Moon or something? Or Spyro?

Was it the shyness in my soul that made me lonely just like you? No one noticed I was there, when I walked into the room.

I play Harvest Moon all the time.

You know... I'm almost tempted to start extreme farming. I bet the news would complain about a sudden fad for farming and blame it on Harvest Moon. My whole street will end up becoming squares of soil for my plants. All joking aside, I swear this whole 'video games are the reason for violence' was over with already. CNN is running out of excuses here.

You know, I can hook you up with this super hipster feminist chick who's had over 20 sexual partners and she'd be like the most perfect girl for you because she does everything with her body and no man is gonna tell her what to do!
