| I tend to be very sensitive to people experiencing similar internal struggles. ... if I can fully relate to a character, I put it on the list. That feeling is the main reason why I even "bother" watching anime, so ... yay. (Exceptions: Athena from Aria and mushishi Ginko, those picks are based solely on how their personalities appeal to me) |

| How well they're written of course.Are they complex?Are their development substantial?These are the questions I ask myself. Of course there are cases,where a character is just so compelling right from the start,where I will put development aside.But complexity is essential for me. It goes without saying,that I will pick complex characters that I like over ones that their life stance is completely different than mine. |

| List of qualities from highest weighting to lowest that a character needs to have to be considered a favorite character: 1) Girl 2) White Hair 3) Loli If an anime has a white-haired loli, 99% chance that she is my favorite character from that anime. |

| I was so bummed that MAL limits you to 10 favorites. I usually pick a favorite girl (rarely, I watch a show with a mostly male cast and have to pick a favorite male instead) for every series. After a bit of reflection I did manage to carve out a "best-of-the-best" selection. Typically my favorite archetypes for girls in terms of character and appearance are: T1: Dark Magical/Dark Action girls T1: Skinny, flat-chested girls; being a loli is acceptable but not absolutely mandatory 3: Tomboys |

| I honestly would love if there were more than a ten character limit, but that's primarily because I have way too many husbandos, waifus, and general faves. Just my husbando list is an eyeful. It's hardly complete, I'm just too lazy to update it entirely to fit my current list, which believe me, is much huger than this. This is just kind of a summary of what I essentially put on it since 2008 as far as primary ones go, but not all of them are from shows i really still appreciate as much. |

| I choose them because like them the most? why complicate something. One thing they have in common is that I emotionally connected to all of them, so it elevated them from character I like and think are cool to great characters that I will always remember. Like Kiritsugu for example. Didn't really think he would end up in my favorites but that second ED of Fate/Zero <3 and the final episodes. Some of them are in order like my favorite character ever is Hitagi. Then my favorite character within Naruto is Kushina that's why she is second. Rest are in no particular order. After the recent change with the favorite layout I don't think I care anymore. Didn't bother adding the free slots in Anime and Manga favorites. Favorite anime gifs suffice for now. Hope they move them to the side like it used to. |

| First rule is originality. This means avoid the cliché tsunderes and whatnot, instead go for characters who are different and unique and had a distinct impression on you. What's the point in choosing a character with 100s of identical copies? |
