It'll most likely sell more. If it's box office is anything to go by, it'll do way better.

Vol.2 1st week actually represents a drop of 14.72% from Vol.1 1st week, where both volumes had event tickets. However yes, 40K+ is really good sales. The test for it would be how Vol.3 and onwards end up selling, but even then it will probably end up averaging close to Season 2's numbers. That would be a pretty good result.

Shirobako still selling well. Awesome. Can't wait for Saenai sequel.
But it's important to remember that a movie review is subjective;it only gives you one person's opinion.

It doesn't matter if you like LoGH,Monster etc.If you are a jobless or college/school dropout living in your mom basement, you are still an unintelligent loser. Taste in anime does not make you a better person. If elitist don't exist, casual pleb and shit taste also don't exist.

Are these only for movies related to a franchise? Because I don't see standalone movies like Ghibli's which should be topping the list.

Yes, TV anime movie versions, thus Ghibli movies would not qualify as the movies are not adaptations of a TV anime franchise.

Gintama is more mainstream anime wise though. It's aired in the daytime where mainstream audience watch TV unlike late night. Plus it's not Otaku appeal it has Fujoshi appeal as well.

There are female otaku who are not fujoshi, so it is wrong to think of the 2 terms as directly interchangeable. It is best just to stick to its actual definition of a female who has an interest in BL (boy's love), rather than labelling the whole female otaku community as all fujoshi.

Thus AquaWateria is correct is considering fujoshi separately, as otaku alone could mean male otaku, female otaku who are not fujoshi or female otaku who are fujoshi.

Yes, thus proving Agafin's point, that it has otaku appeal (though there are other cases like Bleach). An anime is mainstream with TV ratings which are significantly more important for a daytime anime, not disc sales. That's why Gintama wasn't as long running as Naruto, because it's TV ratings weren't high enough, so they now release separated seasons.

*2. *62,190 Gintama: Kanketsu-hen - Yorozuya yo Eien Nare Limited Edition

Gintama has otaku appeal while Naruto is mainstream so Gintama has higher chances of selling more discs than Naruto even though the later does way better at box office.(Ghibli and disney movies are exceptions, they do well in all categories)

and you forgot to say how much better Gintama is than that shit of a series called Naruto.

If you are going to correlate popularity with quality a.k.a ad poplumn Gintama will lose.
