HaXXspetten said: I like how Seraph sold more DVDs than BDs This usually shows that the buying fanbase for Seraph is majority female, as most don't care about the difference in video quality between DVD 480p and BD 720/1080p and the difference in bit-rates. Although some are slowly adapting by upgrading to BD players, which means that the ratio between BD:DVD sales will become less and less useful over time. However if people are just buying an anime volume for a bonus (such as the event ticket bundled with Vol.1), then of course they would buy the cheaper DVD over the BD. |

Blu Ray + DVD 11,478 11,478 Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku Vol.1 Limited Edition Excellent sales for the first volume, granted only one episode thus cheap but hope the remaining volumes can sell well enough for a S3 when there is enough material. *4,011 *4,011 Shinmai Maou no Testament Vol.4 Needs more love, sales remaining relatively steady though. My copy is on the way (probably next week) along with the glorious OVA. Hope BURST continues like this or sells more so we get future seasons. Good to see KanColle, SAO, Cinderella Girls, Shigatsu, Cross Ange and Amagi (loved that OVA) all continue to see consitently and well at that. Hoping for future seaons of Amagi, SAO and iDOLM@STER. |

Shinmai Maou no Testament selling pretty good, hopefully someone can bring it out here in NA. Seraph of the end is selling decent numbers, I thought it would be selling more though and Im sure the studio maybe was hoping for better numbers but we will see how the later volumes do.. |

Kuroko sales dropped quite a bit which is surprising because I thought its second volume held well. Also, I was hoping for better sales for Danmachi but hopefully this is good enough for a second season. Guess the fact it was a really busy week didn't help. |
5 main aspects I base my ratings on: 1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it? 2. Is it better than Breaking Bad? 3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it? 4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL? 5. Is it actually good? Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant... |

What caliber? it's new studio with 2 series above 10k so far. it was founded in 2012, and produced one of the most popular shows the following year. Tell me which other studio has done that. You can't expect them to reach Production I.G. or madhouse level in 3 years. Obviously they will have fewer series compared to other studios |

That was because of the popularity of the source material. OnS, is nowhere the level of popularity of SnK before the anime. It also doesn't mean, they or anybody automatically expect to have great sale with any adaption they make. Still conjecture. Not to mention, it's the animation commite of OnS, is the one concerned with the profit and sales, for all you know, WiT studio were subcontractors, they were paid, beforehand, so 5k or 15k, wouldn't change much for them in terms of gaining profit. lol Madhouse doesn't do great commercially so I don't know why you are using it as a benchmark. |

Lol and you're assuming i specifically used madhouse as a commercial benchmark. What you said, it's assumed they're subcontractors and that's why they don't do well commercially. But their adaptions of the original source material is outstanding so that cannot be used as an excuse for its mediocre sales. Unlike WIT |

Unlike WIT l2R ''for all you know'' I was giving a possibility, not asserting a statement. It's not poor sales, many anime with that range of sales had second seasons, it's 3k that used to be considered average a.k.a the manabi line, which is according to the people considered about sales statistics, is an outdated term, an average might be lower, so saying it's poor sales, doesn't make sense, since it's clearly above average. I don't even want to try and decipher that incoherence. Madhouse doesn't do great commercially therefore whether their adaptation are the best in quality, is irrelevant. |

I don't think Wit expected THAT much from Owari, I do think they thought they were in for something good after SnK with how they started to pander to fujoshis even before the show even aired and with how similar the story is and all, it's not really a flop but it's cutting it close too, just look at those DVD sales and this volume has an event ticket for an event with really popular male seiyuus, sales from here are going to go downhill fast. |

Again I wasn't using madhouse as a commercial benchmark. So idk why you're stating the obvious as we all know they don't perform well in BD sales etc. And what's considered average depends on a lot of things. You can't use a known cut-off point of 3k for all series. If SnK sold 5k copies, you'd say it wasn't a flop? BS coz as you said it already had a substantial fanbase so if it did sell that much, it would've been a flop. I read the OnS manga beforehand and there were definitely a lot of people following the series at the time, although not SnK standard. With its pre-exisiting fan-base, OnS should have done better. I won't discuss this any further as the discussion is deviating away from the purpose of this thread before the mods get on my ass. I only joined yesterday gimme a break |
