In the manga Narsus gave the slaves he freed enough money to fend for themselves however they spent it all and ended up coming back, some of them even questioned if Narsus even cared for them. While he provided a way for them to live they couldn't do it by themselves. It's still ideal to give them that chance and hopefully Arslan continues that belief.

Interesting.. would've been nice if they adapted that part. Was just thinking that the slaves are too used to being slaves that they don't know how to live another way. It's nice that they decided to show that side of slavery since it means that change doesn't come easily and Arslan should know how difficult his goal is.

Sometimes slavery its the best choice, now Arslan knows it, I have this feeling that he will be a great king.

Damn, when Arslan ordered them to leave, he was pretty badass.
With Narsus' mind and Daryun's body, Hodir gets taken down.
Hmm, so not all slaves want to be free from slavery.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.

Yet another case handled well, as far as I'm concerned. The protagonist Arslan experiences and at the same time the plot becomes more intriguing. Teaching today is: Do not talk too openly and be wary of those who throws poison behind those unfamiliar. Fabulous set design, a bit less the drawings, but this time the quality is not lowered as before. The final promises some nice developments, I can not wait.

I had a lot of fun watching this episode and I’m so glad that Daryun killed Hodir. I normally never like strategists in any anime but Narsus is one of my favourites in this one. Farangis almost pushing Gieve off the ledge was really amusing to see and I’m so glad that Arslan is starting to become less naïve. Awesome episode and I can’t wait for next time.

Great episode. Glad that damn Hodir got what he deserves. Not surprising to see the slaves being on his side, since even though they are slaves, they still get paid in the end.

Glad Daryun and Narsus, Falangies foiled Hodir's plans.

Can't wait for the next episode!

Not a big fan of the arrows being reflected/destroyed by the swords all the time but apart from that it was a really amazing episode with lots of great development.

It took them so long in the manga, like 3-5 chapters
Great episode nonetheless.

Good episode and I hope Arslan finally change his attitude, it's about time.
But as much as they are trying to open his eyes they really took unnecessary risk just to teach him a lessson.

Farangis rejecting Gieve is perfect. please dont let them end together.

i knew hodir wanted to marry off his daughter to arslan the moment he opened his mouth.

arslan acting surprised by the slaves willingly returning is ??? like what did you expect? you enslave people for ages then free them without giving a place in society???

the after credits scene only makes arslan parentage more suspicious. surely hermes would have remembered if he had a brother?

What a senseless episode. Every death that happened in this episode could have been avoided. Hodir was a snake, but he could have been a useful ally. Hodir wanted more power, and Arslan could have easily given him some without compromising he goals. It is very clear that slavery is essential for many of the nobles so Arslan doesn't need to advertise the fact he plans to do away with it when he become King. He can deal with that problem when he has his kingdom secured and the means compensate nobles for their loss. Hodir's daughter could also be a very nice girl. Arslan could have at least met her.

HODIR. HODIR HODIR.

Didn't expect him to straight up attack Arslan like that. And I REALLY didn't expect the slaves to revolt like that,

This episode really reminded me of Suikoden V when you escape to Lord Barows. From trying to marry their daughter off to the prince to outright betraying them heck they even kind of look and sound alike. Only difference is that the prince doesn't get some super ancient powerful magic here...

Hodir.. what a disgrace. He tried to kill Arslan and now a bunch of his soldiers are dead. As dead as him. And his slaves are so loyal to him. Pars people killing their own smh. And if ever his daughter assumes leadership of that place, she'd probably hold grudge against Arslan and go against him. Looks like Arslan's journey of finding allies to help him retake Pars will be very very long.

Da fuck. I know he wouldn't be able to keep his intents secret forever but admiting wanting to free the slaves to that slippery fuck was plain retarded.

Thing's are bit too convinient in this show also but i still like it (was all the bow's suppose to be in a storage or how the fuck did Elm manage to ruin them all)

Arslan is a 14 year old noble, not sure why people keep complaining about his naivety or expect him to be some amazing leader. I'd rather have him be naive than some useless spoiled brat.

lol at Gieve outside Farangis window.

Gieve banged the daughter.

Hodir was an idiot.

That slave scene was unexpected. Guess it will be difficult to abolish slavery.

Hodir was a bad guy to begin with. He actually though he could influence Arslan. What an idiot.

Fat Hodir is stupid Hodir. End of story.

I like that they know what a grown man business is in this series, even though it's a shonen.
Arslan is not the smartest guy and needs to be protected as it should be.

Daryun appeared to have found an ally in the Parsian fortress. Fat Hodir hearing Arslan's policy on slaves means he has to act fast. With the crown in dispute, many of the elites're keen on influencing members of the royalty, and he would engage his own daughter to Arslan without showing her.

Gieve at Farangis's window scene lol
Meanwhile, Arslan is at least as skilled at scaling ledges as Gieve (don't scare Daryun like that lol)

Not wanting to lose a potential King, Hodir prevents Arslan's party from leaving. But the collective strength of the troops and cavalry is nothing compared to Daryun. For the archers, Elam has sabotaged the strings on their bows.

While Hodir, who was against Arslan's beliefs, is defeated. Arslan goes to free the slaves; influenced by what he saw as a child, what Narsus once did that got him the ire of the King.
Only...they don't want to be, as Arslan once retorted to Etoile, their master provided them food and shelter, if the slaves were free, they would have to attain such things themselves.
Narsus purposely withheld saying anything to Arslan before to teach him that being does not mean being näive. When Narsus freed the slaves, some came back. Arslan's policy needs to be more nuanced than simply letting slaves go from their masters. Perhaps a proto-welfare program?
