It was in Shadow of the Colossus actually. One of the Colossi was a gigantic electric eel and I had to jump from a high place into a huge lake in order to fight it.

I was very afraid of that water. I was very afraid of large bodies of water and heights when I was young but never has anything translated into the game world like that for me. Took me several tries to do it.

That too. Any throwing knife/tomahawk/ballistic knife/melee weapon from across the map is an automatic shutting down of the game for me.

When I was a wee lad. I borrowed Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 from a friend. I got to the point with the regenerators and I never got the thermal scope, I didn't even know it existed. I still grit my teeth and SOMEHOW finished the game. To this day, this is the voice of my nightmares

Any game that has a subway or some sort of underground area/dungeon and it's mandatory for you to go through it.

Screw Fallout 3's subways.

Rugrats on PS1, there was a level that scared the shit out of me as a kid where it was dark at night and you had to take out these ghosts or something with your flashlight but if you used it too much it ran out so you had to be quick or you'd be left in darkness

As a child I was terrified of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Now they're just comical.

The most recent scary games I've seen are point-and-click games: The House (and The House 2) and Five Nights at Freddy's. PT also looks very scary. All of them rely on jumpscares, though.

I typically don't play games that fall into the horror category since I'm someone who gets scared extremely easily and have trouble sleeping. The one time i did however, i played F.E.A.R and quit like 20 mins into the game after the first scary event.

I hope that didn't stop you from playing it again and finishing it. Otherwise, you missed one hell of a game.

For anyone who might be interested, I'm presently working on a remix of the F.E.A.R. 2 main theme. I have a finished mix, but I wasn't completely satisfied with it because I think I can do better. When I'm done, look for it on my profile and in CCorner.

The original from the game for anyone who doesn't remember it or has never heard it.

Back in the day when I played Code Veronica on the Sega Saturn I remember a scene taking place in a restroom that made me bite off a tip of my tongue because of the jump-scare. It wasn't super serious, but my tongue bled for an hour, or two.

As of now, I'm not too prone to jump-scares or any setups the game industry has in-store. Though, to be fair, Last Of Us had some tense moments where I took a good amount of time to clear efficiently.

Ao Oni terrified me a few years ago because jump-scares get to me the most. I literally couldn't play it until I messed with the game settings and replaced the music which plays whenever the Oni appears with "Barbie Girl".

The most fun part of Fatal Frame is you are playing with a 'living' controller that emulates heart beats.

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines was NOT really advertised as a horror game as it was mainly an RPG. Yet, there was a horrifying mission in a haunted hotel, messed-up creatures in the sewers and a climax with an indestructible werewolf who keeps breathing heavily as he searches for you.

The same goes for Thief: Deadly Shadows which was a stealth game. It had a horror level that put many true horror games to shame. Legend says many players fail to finish the game thanks to that mission.

The scariest game for me will always be the 3D Zelda games on the Nintendo 64. There's something uncanny about the low resolution textures and creepy visuals and audio even today. My childhood was filled with horror.

I had a frightening experience more recently with Amnesia: Dark Descent as well. There's this part where you're in the sewers and have to lure a brute with a rock in order to pass by it. Well, I managed to die. When I spawned the brute was seemingly gone, so I just walked and chilled down the hallways, but the moment I crossed the doorway it spawned in a chase as if the game expected me to have been running from the beginning, and it made me jump harder than any other horror has managed to.

I have a different story, though. It's about an old mp3 player of mine and a "haunted track." It stems back from the late 00s when I used to hook up my mp3 player while I played Xbox360 with my friend. There was this particular track that would glitch and fuck up any game that we were playing when it appeared at a specific part. If you only listened to it on the mp3 player it would only stop playing for a second before returning back on track, but if you played it on the xbox in-game very strange things would begin to happen, and it was usually terrifying. Instead of just stopping for a brief second, it would stop playing alltogether and distort sounds and textures, as well as mechanisms as if we had entered some weird fucked up alternate dimension. I remember joking about what would happen if we played it while doing Silent Hill or some other already disturbing game, lol.

Eventually I destroyed the mp3 player, mostly because it was obsolete, but I like to think that I did it because of that haunted track.

1)Pyramid head introduction in Silent Hill.
2)I was playing GTA San Andreas and was riding a jetpack when I came across this car in the middle of a forest. It was goin down the slope and then suddenly stopped. So when I went to check the car it was empty. At that moment I was scared.
3)Resident evil1 zombie introduction.
4)Slendy bro
5)Dead space eye drilling scene
6)Batman Arkham asylum morgue scene
7)Silent Hill the room, discovering the bigass creepy head of a girl in bathroom.
8)Pokemon fire red, the graveyard of pokemon and the marowak ghost were also pretty dark and scary considering I was just 8 years old at that time.

Ok you can laugh now. Haha

That Miniclip game: there was a nice landscape and peaceful song. But out of nowhere appeared a pic of a satanist with a black hood and a horrible scream started.
I was just 10 years old. My heart stopped for a second, I didn't see that coming. Haha

My elder sis showed that clip to me when I was 10 years old too ,and that jumpscare made me fall off my chair backwards ,head first on the ground ,I was like fainted for almost a minute (due to the impact not the jumpscare)

I was in the room with 5 other people doing random things, while my dad was playing PT (new Ps4 silent hill playable teaser) and he figured out turning around and turning back triggered your death. So as we were doing our busy work, he triggered it and all of use started screaming even though some of us saw it coming.
