Love Live! Vol.1 sets the record of the highest selling TV Anime BD (in the first week), and also the highest selling TV Anime BD+DVD (in the first week) in the 21st century. Previous record holders was Madoka Vol.2 BD at 53,715 in the 1st week, and Bakemonogatari Vol.6 at 72,207 BD+DVD in the 1st week. The highest selling BD+DVD volume (in total sales via Oricon) is Bakemonogatari Vol.4 at 83,967, so Love Live Vol.1 should beat that next week. It has also beaten the almighty Evangelion in terms of 1st week sales.

What's amusing is that plenty of people are already selling their copies. It's really surprising how so many people simply wanted the extras even though this isn't the first time that this has happened. Mod Edit: Spoilered forum stretching link |

Holy crap look at the numbers for Love Live S2. I wonder if that's really all or if they ran out of stock and have to reprint (is that the right term?). So glad to see GochiUsa and Isshuukan Friends selling well. Mikakunin is steady at 5k total :D |

It says it will be back in stock on June 28th, so further sales after the release date of June 20th are currently still being taken, but will most likely not be fulfilled until they have stock again. However, sometimes they miraculously find some stock, so i'd monitor the daily rankings to see if it still ranks well until June 28th. |

OreGairu +novel volumes sold thousands more, people who just wanted the books. SoniAni figure v1? Just selling anime isn't good enough these days. People who just want the anime can wait for the boxed set though even those often have bonus items these days.Cheesekao said: Yeah. That's the name of the game these days. Regardless of why they bought it, they bought it. They're sales, anime sales whether it's anime with tickets in the box or tickets with a Bluray in the box. |

With LL it goes to SoniAni levels though. Anime becomes the extra to the bonuses, not the other way around. I draw the line here. Just like I don't really count Eva when talking about Monogataris or K-ON!-s because it's from previous age (years-wise, format-wise, habits-wise) and aired in evening instead of night. The problem with LL is, it can't be as easily separated as iM@S v1 (which sold over 100k) because LL has multiple intangible bonuses. |
Jun 24, 2014 3:49 AM

And thus LL s1 v1 became the new best selling tv volume of the 21st century(once week 2 rolls around). Unlike the other best selling volumes however(bakamono, Gundam tv series, SnK etc..) it will drop like a rock with v2. Nice to see that Gochuisa was underestimated. |

I'm tempted by that package... I'm glad to see Isshukan Friends doing reasonably well. I don't know if those are "2nd season" type sales, but it is at least making a good showing. I'd like to see the impact on manga sales for that show, as well as some of the others this season... Glad to see Issu |
