| Finally finished the first three parts, time for Diamond is Unbreakable! So far great start. Josuke didn't take long to become likeable! 5/5 |

| Josuke's so hella swole in this that I was actually caught off guard by it. I definitely prefer the anime since it used the final designs and Morioh definitely deserves to be as vibrant as it can be. |

| Diamond is Unbreakable begins somewhat evocative of Stardust Crusaders! We have an older Jotaro searching for a younger relative, presumably with a mission in mind. In this way, he is taking up the role that Joseph did! We have high school senior delinquents running rampant, a small POV kid not unlike Smokey to Joseph, and we have the reintroduction of Jotaro and the introduction of Josuke. I thought it was interesting that Jotaro was stated to have become a marine biologist with famous studies, it was always hard to get into his head for me and it was hard to even imagine what he would do other than hang out around his friends and enact his own sense of justice. I'm curious where the marine biologist interest came from, and if I'm forgetting anything which contributes to it. It's a nice and unexpected layer anywho. Josuke on the other hand was harder to read. He appeared gentle but courageous, if not a little bit eccentric, assuming he is truly afraid of reptiles and he was trying to conquer his fear. There was a sense of innocence and openness as well. However when hit, we saw composure in his eyes, there was no fear, it was as if he was calculating the situation. This unflinching look akin to calculation continued as the turtle was killed. This was only subverted when he showed his short temper and rage when it came to his hair. But lastly, to heal the turtle and presumably not leave too much damage on the bullies face, he showed that his compassion can at least overcome his phobia; maybe even his rage. I got the sense that what he was calculating was how to get out of the situation with the least amount of damage, assuming he has a healing power, choosing to avoid and reduce damage rather than inflict it would be fitting would it not? |
| Diamond is unbreakable is BY FAR my favorite anime part so I'm looking forward to experiencing it again in manga form. Josuke seems so scary in the manga version lol. Wow |
