I'm liking Casca's stare and Guts' relationship thus far with Griffith.

The fight between them was a very memorable moment.

The music when Guts is laying on his back with his hands behind his head is one of greatest tracks I've heard in anime.

Griffith is a ponce but he sure put Guts in his place lol

not really, he beat guts but he didnt put him in his place lol, guts clearly doenst like his captors still, or at least still has uneasy feeling, griffith is a great fighter but no doubt guts will be able to defeat him later on. i like griffith but i think he is not as powerful as he lets up.

From a strategic point of view the end of this Episode is a huge nonsense.

1 Bringing your expensive valuable cannons from behind the safe walls down to an easy reachable ground is beyond reckless. A few cavalary getting through would have been enough to destroy them. But ok lets say we brought them down because the target was too close to aim at them from above. which brings up the second issue.

2 WTF is with the woods directly around the fortress. Why to build elevated defence structures If I can't see the approaching enemy at all. Why to have cannons at all If I can't aim them at anything anyway???? That is again beyond idiotic. At this point somebody (author/director) already has proven his/her lack of basic strategic understanding.

3 Just something "minor" canoons are not MGs you need minutes to reload them. And then they fire them all at once............

4 And then the other idiots even retreat *facepalm*

Sigh...

Oh and by the way, the OST is still amazing as fuck.

Best moment is Guts and Casca interaction. That guy who is jealous of Guts is up to something, I wonder what he is going to do now.

Seems like Griffith managed to tame quite the wild beast. Their fight was awesome. Guts is somewhat blending into their groups, probably his first time being in such a warm environment.

Was a pretty nice raid, though not exceptionally well prepared or anything. It felt rather like the defendants had no idea how to set up a base.

Corkus really feels like a potential betrayer
I really liked the way the music kicked in when they marched out from the forest, really cool.
Damn they straight up fired canons at cavalry lol.
It was really nice to see grumpy Guts.

Well, I thought it was pretty decent for a late 90s Anime (Atleast compared to Berserk's newer adaptations)

insane to me that people dislike the soundtrack. i was hyped through the whole episode because of the amazing music!! this series has such a unique atmosphere thanks to it.

i normally don't care at all for stories with settings like this... i like my anime worlds to be sleek and modern. but so far it's managed to not only avoid boring or annoying me, but i've found this world and the military tactics interesting.

maybe next time you're planning to kill somebody, corkus, don't talk about it out loud right in front of their tent... lol. casca was awesome and there was some great defining character moments for griffith.

very strong episode. i, like others, am not impressed with the animation, but the art itself is great and i'm just such a sucker for that 90s anime look and feel even if it is a bit limited.

I think the best part of this show has to be the soundtrack. Practically all the music sounds super fucking good. I love it.

Some part of the show have not aged well, some moments of the animation is really sloppy, yet I'm still finding myself to be enjoying this.

Guts loses the duel and gets his shoulder dislocated. Corkus, the man who first attacked him, is still holding a grudge. He wanted to kill Guts in his sleep, but Casca stops him.
The next day Guts & the Band of the Hawk hold a raid on an enemy camp. Guts sees Griffith is a methodical tactician, who's thought of everything. Guts has to protect the rear and fends of several heavy cavalery by himself, but eventually loses his horse. He gets saved by Griffith in the end.
The episode ends with a party, where most of the Band's members accept Guts. Except for Corkus & Casca.

I thought it was an OK episode, but nothing that special.

It's crazy to see how strong griffith is considering we saw guts's strength previously. The OST is a masterpiece

There is something incredibly unnerving about Griffith. I guess he just seems too nice for such a dangerous person. Especially that, as Guts has mentioned, he is this nice to someone who has killed his men. I will be very surprised if he doesn't betray Guts at some point.

kinda same, but guts also deserve praise for saving the kid from attack.

still without griffith guts would have been a brooding and annoying brat.

more than that i like guts with griffith. he is such a positive influence

Guts and Griffith, rivals and possibly friends. Casca is a bit jealous but it's okay. It's the only band where Guts feels at home. I'm starting to really enjoy this adaptation. I'll probably love every scene between those three!

Griffith's trust in Guts is out of the ordinary, in addition to leaving the rear guard to him and the recognition from the Falcon gang's people was very good
