Came for the curvaceous blonde Himiko.

Got fat, farting guy from Osaka instead.

At least now we have an explanation for what is happening on the island.

So 50% of gamers are hardcore killers which kill without second thought when told there's no other way by their kidnappers. Damn, I really gotta stop playing video games.

It's not that I don't like this show, but really, logic behind it makes me sick.

You're quite off, actually. That's how human psyche works - you may now state that no matter what, you would absolutely never eat a rat. That is incorrect. You would, if only the preconditions were right: starvation, exhaustion, and the lack of other resources. The urge to live is probably the strongest determinant to make a human being commit inhumane... or even inhuman acts. If someone had you at gunpoint, and offered you life for pulling a trigger at someone else... it's probable that you would decline. Because there's no process of assimilation in it. However, if the setting is as presented in this series (or, for instance, in Battle Royale) you have enough time to change your values and priorities. Or rather, it's not you changing them consciously, but your self-preservation innate behaviour rewrites them without your direct control over the process. If placed in a long-term situation in which the only option to avoid death is to kill, most human beings would break and adjust themselves. The logic behind it is definitely not null and void, it makes sense and holds water - if you disagree, sorry: you're the one in the wrong.

Things are finally getting interesting. At least we now know how the whole game started. That guy in the end is a confirmed psycho after watching the preview.

Looking forward to Himiko and Ryouta actually meeting.

That was a good episode, I like the way things are going. Something to comment on, though, is that they are still surprised by what they see. So it seems that not everyone has adapted yet. Anyway, I guess we'll see more characters next time.
This series reminds me of Gantz. It's a game sort-of concept, but it also sows the inhumane qualities of people.
4/5.

Great episode. Taira and Ryota finally meet. Food coming down via parachute scene was awesome. Oda is serious business. Man Ryota had some badass facial expressions, reminded me of Light from Death Note. Then again he does look like him. xD

Awww yeaaah! Psychotic kid, Kira appears next episode. Sawashiro Miyuki voicing him made me fangasm rofl. Man I can't wait for episode 4. >=D

Man okay I guess that explains state of mind in episode one but man oh man that was a risky move by the anime creators. The main guy gave off the impression he was really dumb but now by episode 3 I guess he's okay. But I still don't like episode 2 and the girls even though they are high schoolers they are dumb.

The long hair guy with sunglasses looks like a smooth dude lol. He reminds me of Guyver 3.

Easily the best episode so far.

Now I'm starting to get absorbed. I especially like the concept of chasing after food parachutes that could have bombs nearby, and not knowing what type of bombs you'll be getting.

And I like the old man as a character a lot too, he's real chill.

Nice buildup in story, I rather thought he would be teaming up with that girl but well at least he teamed up with something and we've got some backstory what actually got them there in the first place. Lets see what's next!

Back to this series for a bit of marathoning. It actually seems better than I thought it was back in October, although I'm a bit ambivalent about the whole battle royal survival game genre (particularly when it involves women). I haven't read the manga yet, but that should be no handicap since folks are quite happy to provide all the information you want (or don't want for that matter) in spoilers. And I believe that the old guy is just a real estate trader from Osaka, yeah right--that would be enough to get him sent to this island for the game....

Once you accept that everyone who has been sent to this island has a reason for it--you'll learn that you can't trust appearances.

Sakamoto is rather conflicting - one minute wanting to play, then wondering how can people play this game.
I'm not a fan of such young kids being in the game though, even if this one seems demented.

This anime is a bit similar to Battle Royale, but I don't mind. They haven't turned it into anime.

That old guy, I wouldn't underestimate him. He's pretty though and I think that comes because of his job. Anyways was an very interesting and revealing episode. Now we know why there on the island and what they have to do to get back home.

Sad enough that they had to kill each other. That kid at the end omg, that's pretty creepy. And now I don't have a good feeling for this old guy :(

PS: Is it just me or looked this guy who explained the rules like a fat Ash from Pokemon? O.o

how the hell a video game company can afford this let alone get away with this. Also we got a little background on what is going on. Though I wonder who the hell will pick kids to dissapear. I saw a little girl in the dam plan and speaking of kids looks like we got our anime psycho coming up. I liked the fact sakamoto was more interested in food then boobs. Nice to get away from so much rape in the last episode. I also laughed when random lady was tasered off the plan.
