Sure, most watchers go for them because they are free, but the main point IS that they provide access to programs we just can't get in any other form. What you are advocating is plain and simply stealing. It doesn't even have an excuse to ride upon. You are downloading an illegal ripped video from a material you could obtain in a legal way in your own region. You shamelessly say to yourself "I can get it for free, so why should I pay?" and don't look back. Now, I won't call myself innocent of partially going for fansubs because they are free, but at the very least I try to concede and buy anime I enjoy. I guess that would make me a little of a hypocrite(sp?) though. |

Therefore, that company loses profits. Anime companies in Japan do look at American sales because they get money from American sales. If a show performs poorly on one or both coasts, then that company will possibly lose profits off the title as well due to the persistence of selfish anime "fans" to not buy any product pertaining to that show and go for the illegal alternative instead.
