Can someone tell what should I do? ctrl + f5 will clear the cache of your computer. It should remove the data of the old picture your computer uses to load faster. If this doesn't work, give it time, eventually the forum avatar will stabilize to the most recent one Thanks. Although it took some time but it is now okay. |

Every time I go through the trouble of creating a new profile pic or forum avatar, some sort of problem will come up when uploading. I tried to upload a new avatar a few days back and it said it worked and it'll take up to 5 mins to show, 3 days later, still no new avatar. Then I cleared my caches, set an old png format avatar because my current one and the one I want are both gifs and this has posed problems in the past. Then tried to set it to the one I want but an hour later, still nothing and instead of it being the png format pic, it reverts back to my original gif. I went through so much changing my profile pic that I really don't want to change it again but I really want to change my avatar after I spent so long on creating it. I understand that it's a small problem compared to most that people are posting but I know a lot of people on here are experiencing the same problems as me and it's kinda frustrating. |

I'm seeing that you want your forum avatar to be Yuno from Mirai Nikki, am I correct? If you want it to be a .gif badly, you will still need to wait, it is possible that .gif takes a longer time to overwrite than other formats. If you do not need it to be .gif, have you tried .jpg? The new forum avatar is in the system, you can see it if you right click your forum avatar and click "Copy Image URL" and then delete the "cdn." from the url. That is the current avatar that is going into the system. |

I have the same problem and it's been a while now. I've tried uploading my avatar to a picture of Yuno for quite some time and it's never shown up. I've waited more then 5 minutes to upload, I refreshed, I tried many things, but it never shows up. I don't know how else I can make it appear. |

How to check! 1) Right click your forum avatar 2) Select "Copy Image URL" 3) Post in new tab, this should be your old avatar 4) Highlight the cdn. of the image url and delete it. 5) The image should be the image you are trying upload. Currently, I am seeing a black and white flashing GIF. insanity- said: I have the same problem and it's been a while now. There are three save slots, each for a format, .jpg, .png and .gif. To overwrite a save slot takes time (Takes a couple hours to a couple days depending on how busy the cdn is... keep in mind, MAL is not the only site to use it), and if the server see that you have not used a save slot in a while (Takes about 30 days... or so I have heard), it will delete it. What I do (And I have had this work, this is where the assumption comes from) is rotate the format of my image, I go from .png -> .jpg -> .gif. By the time I want to go from .gif -> .png, the save for .png has disappeared and I can place a new one. Certain formats have unique things about them, so be careful when planning things out! .png allows for transparency .gif allows for transparency and multiple frames, the moving avatars. .gif can use one frame as well! It will act exactly like a .png I am not too sure how the system works, but the way I have gotten the forum avatars to change fast for me (Instantly actually) and some basic knowledge, I can assume it does something like I have described. It takes a while though, best way to do it is the method I described in my previous post. |

Luna_ said: Why are profile pictures / avatars not changing or switching back? It's explained in this thread. While profile stats and signatures are updating pretty fast at the moment, pictures are still having update issues. To sum it up: There's a process that copies your new uploaded picture to the CDN servers that serve all of MAL's images. This updating process can take some minutes up to several days. If the new picture is not showing up please wait patiently. It will eventually change. What might help to see the new pictures faster: Avatar Upload the new avatar with a different file extension (old: .jpg - new: .png or vice versa). This should change your avatar instantly. If not, clear your cache. Please note: - This only works if you don't upload a new avatar every few days, otherwise there will still be issues with older versions. - Apparently this doesn't really work with .gif images. Profile Picture You can try all these methods. Method 1 Upload your new picture as .jpg Images that are uploaded as .png will be converted to .jpg anyway and this might delay the whole process. Method 2 Clear your cache. You don't necessarily need to clear everything, you can just go to your profile and use the key combination Ctrl + F5. This forces your browser to load the whole page again instead of using the cached version. Method 3 Open your profile picture in a new tab: - Right-click on the picture - Choose "Copy link location" - Paste this link into the new tab (The link should look like this: http://cdn.myanimelist.net/images/userimages/12345.jpg) Then remove cdn. from this link and load the image without this. (The new link should then look like this: http://myanimelist.net/images/userimages/12345.jpg) This new link should show you your new profile picture. Then go back to your profile and refresh your profile (F5 or Ctrl+F5) Please give every method still some hours. If it doesn't work try it again later. There's no guarantee that it really helps. In the worst case you will have to wait (up to several days) until it changes. I use method 1+2 or 1+3 and my profile picture usually changes within 30 minutes. Please note: - The whole process is complex and if you see a new version is depending on your connection and sometimes even the browser. Don't ask me the details, I have no idea (but I guess in most cases it's just the cached image that prevents you from seeing the new pic). So even if you see your new profile picture, others might not. Or vice versa, others can see your new picture and you don't. But after some days everyone will see the new picture. - The profile pic shown as big version on your profile and the small version in comments are different (compare the link location). So it often happens that one shows the new pic and the other doesn't. You can use method 3 for the small pic as well. And no, you can't have animated gifs as profile picture. As I already said, uploaded images are converted to .jpg always. Thank you! Found this very helpful |

Replacing your current .gif (The one with Natsu) with the new .gif (Witch Craft Works) will take time. It is suggested to use a .png/.jpg while you let the system delete your "save" for the .gif. After a bout a week, you should be able to upload your .gif and it should work no problem. For a better explanation, visit this post or this post |
