I didn't like the pace from episode 2, but the pace now is right on. I liked this episode a lot, and it was nice to see Daikichi and Rin relating with other people and with eac other.

Seriously, this anime is covering a very very VERY heavy topic about children, being an orphan, and being an outcast as a child due to background. Yet the heartwarming scenes just makes me melt!!!!! This is definitely my #1 to-watch anime for this season hands down.

Oh and when Daikichi tried to raise Rin but hit her head on the ceiling, it made me chuckle. Does that make me evil? :(

this episode was so sweet. i loved her interactions with the family <3

so her mother's the maid? ...a little awkward, but can't wait to find out more.

the beginning had me crack up laughing.

Rin: Am I going to die too?

Daikichi: Hah? What are you talking about? You're only 6 years old! Here, lemme prove it to you!

*throws Rin into ceiling*

Daikichi: See? You won't die That easy! XD

The theory that if grown-ups are sad, the children think they're mad at them seems logical to me.

I always feel like I'm going to melt after each episode because of the warm and fuzzy feeling I get while watching. XD Anyway, I can actually relate to this episode, I vividly remember thinking about dying too when I was in very early grade school and a bit older than Rin.

I believe there is a good possibility Rin isn't even actually related to Daikichi. His grandfather may well have started taking care of her after her mother left her there. She could have been going there to clean bringing her child along or even staying there taking care of the house but she left and let her child there.
And that could cause problems later for him being able to keep her.

You may be on to something and yes, I agree that it could be a good possibility. It also frightens the hell out of me because of the consequence of that possibility you also pointed out. >_<
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,

I kinda don't want them to find the mother, it may turn out ugly, like the mother from Shigofumi, a bitch.
Hmm maybe, but i can understand why she's bad to rin. Who will want to have a kid with an old man that's going to die? Obviously force into it...or just for the money?

I find it rings true with the following,

Rin being totally different adds a lot to her cute side. Especially the pink bunnies.

This show is amazing. I've watched every slice-of-life show since 2006 and this one truly stands out. Unlike a lot of other slice of life shows where the producers go out of their way to cram moe into the characters, nothing in this show feels forced or contrived. For once, the characters feel so real and so natural. Rin is very cute and surprisingly well-behaved. lol

I love this anime, everything as a reason behind it and it makes sense when you piece it together

- The relationship between the grandparents and stuff made me smile that was sweet.

-I think Daikichi is doing well a parent and to see the bond between him and Rin grow made me wanna have a kid ._. so badly for some reason.

They were actually exasperated at her during the funeral and she knew. So yeah she remembered "this people don't like me". Of course she's a kid so a good treatment and entertainment from them was enough for her to realize they weren't mad anymore.

three episodes judgement: this anime is very good, and it has potential for high rank, theme are good and nice, plot is enough linear, but I think and hope it will do some hit because of there are only 11 episodes.... after AnoHana Noitamina got another quality anime and I think this is the better of this summer season....
Better than AnoHana IMO. Unlike AnoHana, Usagi Drop flows naturally without any forced drama or contrived situation so far. But yes, after Fractale and Hourou Musuko's dissapointments, Noitamina has certainly recovered. I still wished they'd stop their current 11 episode + 1 special trend.

i love the realism in this, and this show makes me feel really good. great show. :)

it doesn't have me jumping out of my seat to watch the next episode, but that's only because slice of life shows tend to be so slow.

Good development episode. It sorta pulled back the initial view that the family were all selfish retards. Though Kazumi is still a pain in the ass. I liked it when Daikichi and his dad were talking in the kitchen and even the dad admits Kazumi is a brat.

I see Rin knows how to win brownie points. LOL "your not old enough to be a grandma."

I sorta figured from the start the Mother would be someone that hung around Grandpa. I guess it's the maid.

great episode. Someone on another BB'forum said it best. "This show leaves you with a stupid silly grin on your face every time you watch it."

I'm in total agreement.

A very very good anime so far 5/5

Rin soooo cute!!
I liked the part were she was worrying about if she will die or Daikichi will die right in front of her and Daikichi said he wont die until shes a young lady.

I predict Daikichi will get very sick from smoking and have to go to a hospital and Rin will be freaking out and be crying a lot because she thinks he will die.... Hopefully im wrong

This series is soo good. It warms the cockles of my heart.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I'm sure Daikachi's grandfather isn't actually related to Rin, rather he took her in because her mother couldn't handle her.. (makes more sense then a 70-something year old producing an illegitimate child)

I like how this show deals with some of the aspects of parenting you wouldn't really think of until you experienced it. We all know its hard, but it's nice that they actually answered why - with details like the "Am I going to die?" question. And this isn't done in any in-your-face-morality kind of way either.

So far this has been a perfect 10 for me...such a humble and beautiful anime.

I'm glad that Daikichi's parents eventually came to - in relation to taking care of Rin, I mean. Based on the fairly bad and selfish impressions they gave off in the first episode, you'd have thought them to be quite different than how they were in this episode. (Same for Reina... Can't believe she became friends with Rin, although I imagine that friendship demands more patience and tolerance from Rin's side of the 'friendship'.)

Hm. So Rin's circumstances get a little bit more complicated. The grandfather kept his mistress as a maid...? Or does Rin just remember her mother as always doing the house chores? Did she even know that Masako was (and still is) her mother? o:
