| My dad enjoyed animated shows almost as much as I do, so I doubt he'd have had a problem with my watching anime. I have to be a little careful around my mum though. It's not so much a matter of what I watch as it is of how much time I spend watching it. She'd freak out if she found out how much time I spend watching anime. Specific genres I'd rather not have her know about are ecchi, shounen-ai and shoujo-ai, for obvious reasons (I don't normally watch hentai anyway, so that's not much of a problem)... |

| Parents are always parents. They won't approve most of the stuff their children have fun with, including anime ofc. I think they see it as a waste of time, or as something childish - not appropriate to someone growing up. Children are usually embarrassed when they dont meet those expectations which is why they don't like getting caught watching anime- playing games etc. As i see it, it only becomes problematic when time spent on anime etc is significantly more than time spent anywhere else. Personally i dont care if my parents see me watching anime. They actually know that i do and lecture me all the time about how i should grow up get a girl etc =) Thankfully i'm not depending on them anymore so it doesn't really matter to me. Taking into consideration their terrible taste for TV shows etc helps as well. I mean what they watch is far from decent. At best it's boring at worse it's embarrassingly stupid. By the way, on that aspect, most anime have a surprising better story, acting, directing than 90% of live action movies, TV shows etc which is the reason why i watch them after all. |

| Interesting topic. Right now I think my mom and aunt would let me watch anything without complaint as I'm already past the legal age for a while and they are lenient with me to start with. But I've always been a "good kid" so I've always kept the naughtier stuff behind closed doors. Well, I seriously doubt they get mad, they'd likely just say "well,you're old enough now", but it still would feel awkward to be too open about it. |

| I didn't have a relationship with my parents... the people who raised me (my grandparents) were fine with me watching whatever as long as it wasn't like porn or something, which I hate anyway. I live with my husband now though. |

| another reason why i wouldnt want my parents to see me watching any anime at all, is because with my luck they would walk in on the worst part of the episode, whether it be the only hardcore ecchi scene in the episode even if the series wasnt technically in the ecchi genre, or as luck would have it, my dad(worst case scenario) would walk in on an extreme shoujo scene. and is it just me or did this happen to anyone else.. when your watching a movie and your parents walk in on the ONLY sex scene/scene with nudity in the whole movie. and this seemed to happen way too often to the point where i literally thought i was under the curse of awkwardness. so after i went through my entire childhood of this awkwardness im not taking any chances. because your parents walking in during a sex scene/nude scene/fanservice scene, or whatever is awkward enough, so if your parents walk in during an animated scene like that would be on another level of awkwardness. |

Hm.. about pr0n its one thing, but dunno how about hentai, not likes he's "manly man", but yknow, in my country theres different enviroment, and anime, in general, is like "cartoon network cartoons". | I wouldn't be comfortable watching any anime regardless of its contents. Partly because my mother always grunts with contempt whenever she hears of me watching animated characters; and partly because I can't imagine being comfortable with images of large breasts and implied sexual innuendos. And really, themes such as those are inherent in almost any anime, irrespective of the age of the target audience. |
