Just rewatching Madoka and I can safely reaffirm that this is episode is one of the best I've seen in any anime. It has it all.

This ^

Everything. So goddamn good.

I love how their situation plays out a little different each time especially. It's a great touch.
I’m just excited to see my Lord and Savior, Baphomet, represented in such glorious Italian stone. I do hope his eyes gaze upon me and that my allegiance is recognized.

I'm really confused about something: every time Homura goes back in time, the girls are already magical girls and so is Madoka. They seem do be working together. But when she comes back now, Madoka and Sayaka are not and they only meet Mami later O.o What changed this time?

Nothing changed. I mean, what changed was Homura's timing. As you can see in this screenshot, she was discharged from the hospital on the 16th (the day she comes back) and only started school on the 25th. The first time around, she obviously only meets Madoka after school starts, when she saves her. The second time, she once again only introduces herself to Madoka in the first day of classes, when Madoka already is a magical girl. Same supposedly happens the third time around. On the fourth timeline we're shown, she leaves the hospital as soon as she's discharged and "kills" Kyubey before he can approach Madoka. This means that under "regular" circumstances (I mean, in all timelines in which Homura didn't influence the events of that week), Madoka became a magical girl somewhen between Homura being discharged from the hospital and school starting. It's assumed the same happened in the fifth timeline (the one shown in the anime).

I understand. Didn't see the calender dates right, though I suspected why she was after Kyubey at the start of the show. All makes sense now,

this explains a lot about why homura-chan acted the way she did, and also explains why she seems to not care, as long as she achieves her goal

this episode also caused a lot of connections in my head, as in connections to other animes

Ah, I was waiting for an episode explaining Homura's motives.
I was expecting her intentions to be good, and it's great to know more about her personality.
I think Homura is my second favorite character... but honestly, I like all of them, in their own ways. I guess that's why this makes it so entertaining.

From the first moments I've started watching anime, I felt it was very similar to Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (my favorite novel), but now that I've watched this episode, they really are so reminiscent to each other, they're like twins.
Homura = Aya/Maria Otonashi (Both end up as emotionless girls through endless repetitions who deep inside still yearn for something very humane. Being self-sacrifing for others at that)
Boxes = Contracts
Kyubei = O?
And a lot more, Gosh I'm really liking this anime, didn't expect this.

Btw, so that's how she know's that monster's going to appear, she's been fighting it over and over again.

I've been wondering, Kyubey said Madoka was able to kill the Walpurgis in one hit, but the previous timeline/s show that she lost to the Walpurgis. What gives?

Because according to this series' logic, Madoka gets stronger with each new timeline.

"Also using the OP as ED, with addition of Kyouko and Homura on that mast: Brilliant."

Yesss, that was the moment I decided I was giving this series a 10. Sometimes it's just a tiny thing like putting the OP at the end that makes you realize how awesome a thing is. :)

Great episode :O Now it makes sense why Homura was so desperate. She's also changed quite a lot since in the beginning. And I also see why she didn't like Mami before. I can't believe Mami killed Kyouko just like that. It must be lonely for Homura to keep traveling back in time to fix the outcome...great job Urobuchi, with the fate theme. At this point, it seems like no matter what Homura does, it's Madoka's fate to become a mahou shoujo, and in the end, become a witch like all the other mahou shoujo. And now I see the Steins;Gate comparison lol.

This was amazing. It's by far the best episode just because it finally adds depth to the story and pulls it all together.

I love the development in Homura's character from each time line.

Also, this hopeless, endless cycle reminds me of Higurashi.

Homura has been slipping all over and over again just to prevent Madoka in becoming a magical girl.
She is getting all the pain because she already knows what will happen to them. I still want to slash Kyuubey.

Like everyone else, I saw the Steins; Gate similarities.

By the way I wasn't quite clear, what was going on in the timeline when Homura and Madoka were dying together? Did Madoka at that point understand what was going on and what Homura had been doing? Don't remember it quite clearly.

But yes, genius episode. BTW, who do you guys see as THE protagonist of the series? Madoka or Homura? A case could be made for either but wonder what the creators intended.

Steins;Gate is just 1/5 of Madoka's success, so no way it "does it better" lol. Not to mention animation quality and music score... They are worlds apart.

They are both quality, and I don't have any complaints on how either handled the distress of the various characters.

Okay, I've watched this episode twice now, but for some reason I honestly didn't think it was that great. And I feel kinda bad about it because everyone says this episode's awesome and it's rated super high. But I dunno.

I mean yeah, it's the big episode that finally explains everything about the mysterious character and how tragic her past is and all the suffering she's going through for her only friend and stuff... Sound exciting, but I was just like "Ehh... Yeah, alright" as I watched it.

I've been sitting here for a while and trying to figure out exactly what I don't like about it, but I just can't explain it well enough. I guess I was expecting too much, maybe? Or I guess I thought it was a little cheesy or trite or something?

Ah, well. It's just weird.

Well that explain almost every question I had about the story xD Probably the best episode yet.

I still have question about that night of Walpurgus (don't know if spelled right). Is it a witch or something else. Something that make me believe that she isn't a witch is that they are fighting in the city instead of a labyrinth. Maybe the night of Walpurgus is just something made to transform Madoka in a witch? I dunno, really lookng forward for how it end.

Edit : Homura should ask Okabe about how to solve time problem xD

It's an interesting contrast between ep1 and ep10, when Homura transfer into madoka's class...

The backstory is great, but the pace is too fast.
It's moving to see Homura, from a timid, shy girl, become a cool, badass one, to fight for Madoka, someone she cared about, someone she wants to protect. However, one episode just not enough to show the character development completely, maybe two episode is needed, to show the frustration Homura suffered, and the changing of her personality.

If Homura has became completely cold-blood, doesn't care for others, she may killed Sayaka in ep8 or ep9, but still, Homura will lost her emotions progressively if she keep getting frustrated in the time loop...
