According to the twitter of Nogami Takeshi, mangaka Kawasaki Noboru refused Tokyo Anime Award, which was planned to be given at Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) 2011. Tokyo Government had offered him the prize for the distinguished service. Kawasaki consulted the Japan Cartoonists Association and decided to turn it down considering the issue of Anime & Manga Regulation Ordinance. Tokyo proposed to give the prize in other occasion than TAF but Kawasaki declined it as well. Nogami said Tokyo officials got flurried by his unexpected refusal.

Kawasaki Noboru is 69 years old and the art author of Japanese classic manga "Kyojin no Hoshi" (Wikipedia). The manga and its anime adaptations have got fanatic popularity in 1960's and 70's in Japan.

I hope they realize soon they made a mistake and undo that bill...or at the very least, reword it in such a way that it wouldn't hurt the industry.
The Japanese government, I mean.

Glad to see more people standing up for this, though, and I hope things turn out well before the end.

Good, that's how you get things done! You just keep declining and refusing until something happens, and eventually it'll work because the government or whoever runs it will be losing money =]

Unfortunately, that'd only make things worse...personally I just want him out of politics - the dude has no business making decisions that effect other people, as he has (in more ways then just this) made clear in the past.

If anything he needs to just die suddenly in his sleep, from a painful disease, or die from a small government coup. Some disease or non-otaku must put him down for good.

Because killing someone who disagrees with you is the best way to solve a problem.

Way to fit into his reasoning of why regulations should be in place....-laughs-

I get you are having fun with it. But he is still just a man doing what he thinks is right. Saying burn down his house, even jokingly is childish and really only gives power to the other side.
