Kubo Tite just announced in an interview at Jump Festa that Bleach is only halfway through it's story and it'll keep going for at least another 10 years if it depends on him. I think it's about time all the haters stop reading Bleach, it'd be bad to hate it for another 10 years, wouldn't it?

Maybe in this amount of time Bleach will develop a better storyline then Aizen plothax. Anyway I don't really ever hate on bleach, it has been one of my favorite mangas and animes for the past 6 years and i'm glad to see it go on for another 10. It will give me stuff to do each week.

You make it sound like hating isn't fun. I read bleach JUST to complain about it, and to hear other people complain about it. As for Bleach continuing that long, I never really expected bleach to end as soon as some said it was going to.

I think another 10 years is pretty crazy. I can see why haters hate Bleach and I think some of them have made valid points over the last several years, not that I read a lot of their opinions, but manga is just like any other form of entertainment. It has its lows and highs. Although from what little I have read of what's going on lately, manga seems to be falling on hard times, what with decreasing sales and the Tokyo ban.

Perhaps, and this may well be an invalid suggestion, but maybe the problem with manga is that it operates on a more limited level, then American comics. Perhaps the plot setups and characters are painted into a smaller box from the outset. Things seem more specialized and tailored. Many American comics have been going on for 40, 50 or more years. In that regard, is Bleach lasting for perhaps only 20, really so long? A large cast of characters certainly is problematic, rather then usually mainly focusing on the main protagonist, such as Batman or in this case, Ichigo. Despite Bleach dragging on and Aizen's ridiculous setups, I think I like Bleach well enough that I will probably keep reading the manga. Whether the anime will continue for another 10 years, is another matter of course.

A while ago i read that Kubo was only doing 2 more arcs. Meh...

Anyway, i'm happy i guess. Hopefully he can shake it up a bit now that Aizen is out of the picture.....Unless he ubertrolls us and has him break out stupidly early.

Oh and the series needs more Tatsuki.

Its already been 6 years? FML like seriously lulz. God damn another 10 years. Are they trying to beat DBZ or something? Oh well, i know for sure my cousin is happy cuz he is an otaku for Bleach (idiot buys bleach and bleaches the clothes that have Bleach on them) I don't necessarily complain about Shonen manga/anime because its doing its job: entertaining kids+other ages.... Hell I've watched it while I was growing up along with One Piece and Naruto, yet I still watch them all, just that lately I haven't bothered to keep up with them all because of consistent fillers and realizing that I can use my time more wisely on video games, music, and watching/reading different manga/anime.

Bleach has surprisingly many plotpoints that can be used.

Xcution
Mayuri's findings in Hm and his anger at Ichigo
Isshin Backstory
What is wrong with Orihime
Ichigo's Family History
Break Aizen out of Prison Arc
Chad arc
Zero Squad
Royal Guards
Soul King
Aizen's Backstory
Quincies VS Shinigami 2 with Ichigo and Ishida at the center of conflict.

That right there is already at least 600 chapters. And god knows what else we will find out that can be developed into plotlines

no.

That interview is often misinterpreted..

WHat he said back then was that he has already planned out on how the next two arcs will go. The first, shorter of those two arcs is the current arc. Then there will be another longer arc.

He did not say that its the last story arcs ever ;)

I smell filler along the way adding an additional 150+ chapters. You present a reasonable perspective of the way Shonen works. Yeah the way to keep a meta-series like this dragging is the poke at as much detail as possible and drag those details out like a train track. The art of making a different universe. The most ridiculously expanded series of any animation of all time has got to be Marvel and DC comics hands-down. I get so lost when my dad tries to explain it to me and often points out that the Hollywood interpretations are way off most of the time (especially X-Men)

Complaining about it is fun sometimes, and I do this myself now, but seriously? In 10 years I would expect myself to have matured from doing something like this. >_>

10 years. Please just end already, so everyone can move on. He said in a very old interview that he has never expected Bleach to run for more than 5 years. And now he wants to make it a 20-year series. I can only think of one reason why he'd do this! He knows he wouldn't be able to strike another jackpot like Bleach again! Milk the fans until they are old and grey I suppose! /deeply emotional

I was surprised but with Tite's pacing I really shouldn't be. The Karakura town arc alone was around 100 chapters, I guess the whole getting his powers and facing the spirit king could take 400 chapters with that pace.
The thing that I'm worried about is the power levels... The zero squad can't be that overpowered. Though I'm guessing that's why Tite kept most captain's bankai hidden, so he could feign some sort of normality when he unleashed them saying "we've always been this powerful, we just held back because we didn't want to kill anyone >>"
Anyway... wow. 10 more years.

I was genuinely overwhelmed when I jumped into the DC universe, the amount of spin offs and tie ins are insane. I see that Marvel is quite a bit worse for it, though, which is what's keeping me away from it.
Though saying that, it's an incredible universe, and greatly satisfying once you jump in and start understanding.

Anyone else think he is only doing this because of Oda-sensei?
He announced One Piece would last another 10 years, so Kubo wants to match him. He is just trying to hang onto this series even though it is past its best.
At least Oda-sensei planned out his story long in advance and has an ending planned. Kubo is winging it most the time (hence the plotholes and ridiculously long arcs full of fights)
10 more years of hit-miss chapters? No thanks. Just let it die already.

My fiance was a massive Bleach fan but he is getting pissed off with the ridiculous stuff that is happening now.

You know whats my view on the joy of a series ending? Its not the joy of it being bad, its the joy that you've survived through it! It's not about being a hater, never was and never should be. Its about appreciating the hard work they put into it. When I finished the entire Dragon Ball series, I was sad. But now im overjoyed that I finished it. I just finished Code Geass series and I'm glad I watched it, no regrets. Bleach,One Piece, and Naruto I'm up to date with it and I just watch it out of habit. But when its all over I'll be glad to watch it all. I guess you can say im a devoted fan. :)

This.

Firstly, Oda announces a time skip in One Piece, shortly awterwards Kubo Tite presents a time skip in Bleach. Secondly, Tite claims that the story will last at least 10 years more, which Oda has told before as well. Whatever the truth, it looks like Tite tries to follow Oda, and while the story of One Piece is very complex and every new chapter shows that the author has planned every detail very carefully, the time-skip events Tite presented in Bleach look to me like something totally unplanned, story made in a hurry.

I was a Bleach fan as well, until it became nothing more than pages with 1 or 2 drawings and useless chit-chats such as:
Ichigo: I shall defeat you with my new superpower, Aizen!
Aizen: You cannot defeat me with your new superpower, Ichigo, because I'm invicible!
Ichigo: I will win!
Aizen: No, I will win!
Ichigo: I am stronger!
Aizen: No, I am stronger!
*Ichigo transforms into Alucard*

Not that I'm a Bleach hater now. I just stopped finding it exciting and interesting, like I was finding it in the beginning, so I have dropped it recently.

ok, im gonna b a little blunt here but....IF U DONT LIKE THE SERIES DONT WATCH IT!!!!!! IF U DONT WATCH IT THEN IT DOESNT CONCERN U AND U HAVE NO REASON TO COMPLAIN!!!!! god people......KUBO IS NOT PERFECT! everybodys just complaining cuz ichigo went all fgt on aizen then it went back to this normal arc but this arc is just beginning and yes i know its already been goin on for about 2 months but this is bleach people.....its just the way it works

and btw soul society, vizards, those fake soul people (the ones like kon), and mayb one more that i cant think of all started out as bad guys then ended up becoming allies. i wouldnt be suprised if this was gonna happen with these people. and in my opinion this arc was not just made in a hurry cuz it finally explained orihimes and mayb chads powers. although i do remember some one saying chads powers were like a hollows way back wen.....o well

another thought just popped into my head (i swear ill stop after this) ichigos look has changed so much in the past decade or so....i wonder wat he will look like in 10 years?

I doubt we'll see many of those points expanded without the use of heavy filler.
Mayuri's anger at Ichigo + Isshin's backstory + Ichigo's family history = One arc.
Royal guards = Zero squad + Soul king = One arc.

Quincies VS Shinigami 2 with Ichigo and Ishida at the center of conflict.

Right, 2 Quincies versus the whole of SS.....No one wants an arc out of that.

I do recall KT wanting to do an arc involving Kenpachi's backstory in detail though. That would be interesting. He might even be holding off him getting to know his sword better for such an arc.

10 years, wow. Is this another troll from? Does Kubo actually know what we say on the internet? Bleach should have ended right after the Aizen fight. What he could have done is end the story right there, cut your losses and switch over to another turn back the pendulum arc, finish it after explaining some background (no pun intended) and switch over to an epilogue chapter with ichigo.

Oh Kubo, you will always be apart of our lives. We'll never forget bleach no matter how hard we try. Especially after The Hear

I think that too, Mayuri is just an angry fellow who wants to experiment with beings, if anything he'd be mad at Ishida because he wants to experiment on him, and if there were more than 2 quincy, another war would be interesting. Though we all know that so far quincy have been shown as fodder.

Even though all the plot points remaining could be tied up in 100-200 chapters (not including random plot points introduced by forcefully introducing new characters), we're looking at Tite's pace here. He has pretty slow pacing, the only one manga that has worse pacing than this is Dogs Bullets and Carnage.

I'm actually quite excited for Bleach to last enough 10 years.
I want to see how Tite Kubo will plan this out. :D

& All of you, shouldn't really talk. He wants to finish Bleach, it's his dream. So let him finish it the way he wants too, and if you don't want to let him do that. Then stop reading it, stop watching it. It's not that hard, you must like it to some extent, if you can't just drop it.

you all seem to piss me off, cause you don't know what he does in his time. Maybe something is always happening in his life, that he can't think while doing his work. or maybe he actually has a life outside of drawing Bleach. Don't get mad at him, because his dialogue, or drawings don't fit your criteria.

end of rant. :D

"Plan this out" there's no plan, silly, he makes it up as he goes along.
If he can't think whilst doing his work then he really shouldn't be in the manga writing business, it's a hard job full of deadlines and criticism, I'm sure he knew that before he went in. Manga writing doesn't really allow a life, unless you're like Muira or Togashi.
It's not getting mad at him either, it's merely criticising his lack of backgrounds and poor "plot", constructive criticism is great.

Well, putting aside the reason for expanding another storyline, I'm not against a few years more of Bleach. Would be even fun to read it when there's nothing else to do in the meantime. But the anime is different. I really would like it to end with Ichigo defeating Aizen.

Maybe just for taking a deep breath. The quality of anime also dropped incredibly and I wish it would be as good as it was years ago. Not story 'cause I appreciate the fact they hold on to the manga storyline (fillers are ridiculous), but those small technical characteristics.

And I think it can be interesting if Kubo makes some effort in writing new chapters.

Oh, where are those days when I was doing nothing but watching Bleach without breath...

So the way I see it is Kubo has just released Volume 49 as the first of the second "half" of the series. Is his plan just as simple as wanting to reach and finish off at volume 100? It's also been 10 years since the series started, so another 10 would be approximately doubling the length.

Anyone who says there's nothing left to explore in Bleach is just not paying attention, btw. If you haven't realized by now, characterisation and artwork are very important, if not the most important parts, in the Bleach universe. Kubo has announced publically that he doesn't consider himself good at stories and plot, but no-one can deny that his art is fantastic and his characters are well thought-out (although admittedly not all of them are brilliant, but those characters don't usually have much screentime... but of course that couldn't possibly be intentional by Kubo, could it?). And I'd even disagree with people who claim he's winging the entire series, since how often do things happen and then remain unexplained until much, much later - like Chad's powers, for instance. Personally, i think the only thing I would change about Bleach is to make it move a little quicker, but that being said i'd prefer art over pace for this series.

In any case, I'm really glad that it's going to keep going for another 10. I've been watching and reading it since about 5 years ago, and have quite honestly loved it. By far my favourite anime show, closely followed by other greats Cowboy Bebop and Haruhi Suzumiya (all of which show extremely subtle skill beyond the face value level, if you think for a second about what's really going on). I'd applaud Kubo any day of the week for his efforts and what i'd call a great achievement

I strongly doubt Bleach will keep going for at least another 10 years, unless Kubo manages to rise in the rankings. This week, it was in the bottom four, and it's been progressively dropping for weeks now. He's got tankobon sales to fall back on, sure, but for how long will this continue?

Well he said it in 2010, and it's almost 2015. Almost 50% of his promise is complete. Even so, it's hard to believe that bleach will last 5 more years. I'll give a 1 - 2 years range until the end, probably on its 15th anniversary in 2016.

I was hoping it'd finish this year but then it got dragged out with these fodder battles throughout the entire year. I hope it ends next year but I dunno if that'll happen.

with the super slow pacing its going i doubt it will end on 2016, but it might announce the ending timeline on 2016 though i hope
