| No, I don't believe L and Light are gay~ I mean, one glance at episode 25 when L was drying Light's feet - people would think they were gay. However what gr33nhippo said was true and that whole scene had a higher symbolism to it. Now, with L not having a girlfriend even at his age --> that doesn't mean he's gay. Lol, I just believe he doesn't have enough time to go out and find the perfect girl for him, with him being the greatest detective and all~ xD And Light - well, I'm not too sure about Light [but that might just be cause I really hate him]!
