| These opponents look intimidating. D: And it looks like the girls team is gonna try their best too! Michimiya and Daichi had a cute interaction at the beginning. It's so hard to choose a favorite character...they're all my children. I love this whole cast so much it's so disorienting not being able to know who's #1. But I love it. Feels like family. The ending credits really hit me. :) And Kiyoko's cheering was so sweet! |

| Episode would call almost perfect, the merit is the narrative that makes him the right energy, but goes far beyond the usual facts narrated so far, because it widens the audience cast also to people not related to the main story, also giving a connotation of slice of life history, I am very satisfied! Fun and even moe at the end the story. The drawings and animations are great, it OST also very beautiful, catchy ending. |

| This was one of my favorite episodes. It was great for character building and for a training montage, as well as for humor, as did it set up for the upcoming matches like the rematch with 'the iron wall' like I predicted! In terms of character building we had some substantial character exploration for Yamaguchi, who was so inspired by his friends working hard and so unhappy with being the forgettable gag character that he went out to learn how to be useful to his team for once! And we had some for Kiyoko, who up til this point was just a pretty face. She's shown that she doesn't feel comfortable showing her emotions, but she does care for and want to support the team, especially when going into their most crucial matches! She's developed past a one dimensional object and that's great. For the less substantial but still very meaningful ones, we got the female volleyball captain being written to be more than a nameless friend to Daichi, we got a view on Daichi's past, we learned that Ukai truly is a family man down to the bone and works from 4am on a farm; runs his families store; and probably comes down for free out of love and passion and fighting spirit to coach Karasuno! I was glad to see Noya go to Asahi's class to scream for him to come as we saw again their bond allows Noya to know when Asahi is feeling bad, but more importantly we saw the new Asahi in how he spoke that he no longer shoulders all the blame and that he'll go in with his all this time! Hopefully we understand why the two are so close soon. More than brand new stuff, we got many small moments as well that I adore just as much. I think Haikyuu masters giving the feel of its characters that of admirable, earnest, hard working and cool people, but balances it out by showing them to be goofy little kids deep down. We saw Tanaka giving the speech about wanting a girlfriend, acting both as the girl and his image of himself being a super cool guy, but that's what we've come to expect. As is the adorable but hilarious little moments where Hinata and Kageyama race. But two major parts that stuck out to me where these: And this For the training montage I mentioned as a pro: Haikyuu matches are satisfying because we see the team learn everything before hand and the matches are them putting what they've practiced together and growing as a team while the match takes place. It's all set up before hand, the seeds are set and they grow into a beautiful display as we watch. Here we've seen them practice all the new attack patterns, we've seen Yamaguchi head off to learn the float serve so he could be of some use, we saw Suga orchestrate new signals so they can work together far more effectively and saw how his quick attacks were getting better with Hinata and how Kageyama and Asahi were gaining a better connection with practice. It's great we took half of the first season to build up our characters rather than put them into a tournament sooner, it will make these preliminaries far more satisfying and well written than otherwise I think. |
Kageyama thinking of Oikawa and angrily slamming the buttons on a vending machine to drink juice with a childishly angry expression encapsulates both his intensity, and his dweeby childish heart. Nobody actually cool slams down a juice box with an adorably mad expression on! 
Seeing a brief glimpse at Tsukki's room was enlightening. Sure it's cute how he has a ball neatly on his desk, and how he has his jersey hanging so he can look to it to remind him what he's doing this all for.

| I'm glad that the episode spent time on each character, especially Kiyoko, Yui, Daichi and Yamaguchi. Considering the progression they've had since the last arc, I highly appreciate that they show more about the characters that aren't the main focus of the series. |

| That was a good episode. So the opponents are set up and we are off to the Inter-High Preliminaries. I loved that they focused on more characters and especially Yamaguchi. I am waiting for his development. Also Tsukki too. Tanaka is hilarious as ever. And Daichi's and Michimiya's interaction was cute. |
