| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Yay~ they played a longer version of the trailor music *-* Im sort of surprised how Alice didnt know about what would happen if the clocks hands make a full turn. You figure since she was the one who initiated the contract, she would know some of the consciences. How lovely, Sharon changed her dress. Cant believe im saying this but I like the purple on better..Blue doesnt suit her. Its nice seeing Alice and Raven getting along so well :D |

| I really liked this episode, I hereby declare it my favorite so far. ♥ Actually it would be perfectly plausible for Alice not to know the effects of her contract, considering she woke up in the Abyss without any memories. She's been in the Abyss for as long as she remembers, thus wouldn't know the consequences because it doesn't happen there. At least that's my theory. Next episode Sharon gets her permanent dress! Thank god. The flower girl scene was very well done, I thought. And the stylistic choices they're making - it suits Pandora perfectly. It also is a way to save budget, probably. At least XEBEC is finally understanding its boundaries. And Ryou Hirohashi. That was pure gold at the end. |

| I liked this episode, it showed that being a contractor is not all just fun and games. It also showed that there is a definite dark side to being a contarctor. With that aside it was a pretty funny episode U gotta love alice and raven =D |

| Great episode and it's interesting to learn how the whole contracting works and wow seems like all those rumors about Alice were all made up, <_< didnt see that coming. Turns out Alice might not be as strong as we hoped XD feel bad for Oz to be in the middle XD |

| Lol @ Break offering the candy to Alice and Oz for completing the mission(I wonder if Alice doesnt like candy) and Emily suddenly blurting out that Alice is stupid. I wonder if Raven was about to reveal himself to OZ when that chain appeared. Ravens gun was kickass |

| For those interested, list of fillers: 1. The scenes in the village before Oz talks with the flower girl 2. The entire dialogue betewen the flower girl and the aristocrats (in manga, chapter started with Oz talking with the flower girl). In fact, the flower girl didn't seem to be livign a miserable life in the manga. 3. Flower girl and her Chain got a bit more screentime 4. Fall into Abys was quicker in the manga and Oz had no time to try to save her. Girl being held by Chain's hand and her calls for help were also filler 5. The scene where Allice bullied Oz in the wagon was removed, but I think that few more dialogue lines have been added. All in all, the fillers (IMO) greately improved the episode by making it more dramatic. Obviously, filler-making is something at what Xebec is very good. |

| it was a very funny episode alice-raven relation is quite funny too and that power that oz has to not be affecteed and stay calmed in almost all situations is admirable + he thinks that addapting is better --he does it very fast 2... |

Episode was pretty good. There were alot more comical moments and more Alice chibi. Lol. She is pretty cute that way, but I prefer her more when she's in her evil mode -> I love her evil smirks and grins etc.  Because as a Contracter, Oz is my first. a.k.a 'Oz is my first love' haha blushing, way too cute. |

Very awesome episode, but I'm having a hard time only being able to watch one a week. D: Does anyone know if the manga has enough material for this not to descend into filler hell à la Kuroshitsuji? |

Going back to having an anime-original ending was also one of my fears XD. I just hope they stick with the manga and try to not change alot =D |

I like it better when an anime ends at the end of an arc in in another logical place that allows for the opportunities of sequels. Skip Beat!, Kekkaishi, Spice and Wolf, Ghost Hunt, Kamisama Kazoku, Nodame Cantabile (I could go on for a while, heh), are all favourites of mine that managed to do that. I can only hope Pandora Hearts does so, too. Because other shows that went into filler territory... well... I did not like them as much. |

| I was a little worried by the end of episode four, Alice & Oz working for Break didn't exactly sound like my idea of a great direction for the show to take. However, this was a really good episode and it seems my concerns were unwarranted. Funny, silly, exciting, and a bit horrifying. I love when shows change moods at the drop of hat and pull it off brilliantly like "Pandora Hearts" continues to do. Granted, I can't get enough of Dark Alice but hey, what can you do? I was hoping for an epic chain vs chain fight, but the clock finishing its rotation and subsequent scenes more than made up for it. Can't wait for episode six! Sidenote - Oz is actually fast becoming one of my favorite male characters. He's nothing special as far as strength or powers but he's a young man who's pure of heart, brave, and pretty bright all without coming off as obnoxious. He's a refreshing male character after some of the craven idiots I've seen in the last few series I've watched. |

| Best episode by far. More focus on Raven too. I love the comic moments. They blend in well with the dark and gloomy atmosphere without being over the top distracting. Break is being very secretive & mysterious. What he said about the three options for Oz made me extremely curious about his connection with the whole abyss thing. Seriously, like most who commented, this show is getting me hook and eagerly waiting for more. |

| Am I the only one who thought it was the right thing for Raven to stop Oz? It seemed pretty obvious to me that by the time he knew of the seal it was too late to kill the chain and also that if they had crossed the edge of that circle they would have been dragged into abyss with the girl. (Note how it was visually emphasized how he was stopped only inches away.) Plus we already know that Raven is a decent person and probably Gil, so he's not the kind of person to let that happen without a good reason. I have to say that I'm also not a fan of the humor. It's just so far removed from the dramatic parts of the show that they might as well be entirely different characters. I think it would have been a whole lot better if they replaced the slapstick with wit. I've been on the fence with this series, but I'm definitely going to finish it now. The part that sucked me in was watching the flower girl getting dragged down to "hell." |

Am I the only one who thought it was the right thing for Raven to stop Oz? I think that a lot of people agree that Oz was supposed to be stoped. Even Oz seems to agree as he ain't angry for being stoped. I have to say that I'm also not a fan of the humor. It's just so far removed from the dramatic parts of the show that they might as well be entirely different characters. I think it would have been a whole lot better if they replaced the slapstick with wit. Why? Humour and drama were seperated quite nicely here. After all this is a shounen: action, drama and humour are some of its core elements. |

Um, because it was so far removed from the drama that they might as well be entirely different characters. The actual story so far has been so dark that it borders on horror. It's like throwing some three stooges comedy into the middle of The Ring. It doesn't relieve the tension, it kills it. I'm not saying I'm anti-funny, just that slapstick doesn't work with the atmosphere where something more subtle would. Of course, this is shonen, and we all know teenagers can't appreciate subtlety. ;) |

| I quite liked this episode, was interesting to get the details on how the contract works. Raven is a pretty cool character, great design. Alice's design is awesome too. This show has some great dramatic moments, but sadly a lot of the suspense is killed by the lame and unfunny comedy. In my opinion this is a show that should not have comedy at all yet it uses quite a lot. I haven't laughed once at the jokes because they are just stupid and out of place. Apart from that i don't really have many other complaints, well Oz can be a bit of a douche at times which i don't like, bu at least he's a brave main character rather than a pussy one. |

| So I was looking for something to save me from this boring season of anime and decided to give this one a shot. By far one of the best if not THEE best this season. Sure the animation isn't exactly "modern" status but so far the characters/story are superb. Very glad I picked this one up, looking forward to the next episode. fantasylover said: Hey! Apparantly they are releasing it like a 'chapter', therefore ommiting the OP and ED. Takes the charm a bit away, the OP is pretty good. |
