Synopsis

Aside from her deep passion for eating cakes, the clumsy Ichigo Amano has never been successful at anything. After an encounter with Henri Lucas, a famous patissier, Ichigo's amazing tasting abilities—although unbeknownst to her—are discovered. Recognizing her talent, Henri offers her the chance to attend St. Marie Academy, a prestigious culinary school which specializes in desserts.

In spite of the fact that she is a beginner lacking skills, thanks to Henri's recommendation, Ichigo is placed in the topmost group with the "Sweets Princes." The princes, famous throughout the school for their magical treats, are Sennosuke Andou, an expert in traditional Japanese sweets; Satsuki Hanabusa, with a flair for candied flowers; and Makoto Kashino, a gifted chocolatier. Ichigo and the Sweets Princes, each accompanied by their "Sweets Spirits"—fairies who make patissiers' dreams come true—all work towards their goals in the competitive world of sweets.

I have known about this show since I was 11 years old and even now as an adult, I find myself rewatching it almost every year if I have caught up with new anime episodes. The show is intriguing to me because of how hardworking and passionate the characters are towards their dreams.

The bond of friendship between the characters is really nice, and the mistakes made by the main character and the team are very realistic, just like in real life. The many competitions in the show are captivating and will keep you on your toes. The visuals of the cakes are also well-done.

Overall, I ...

TL;DR: Do I recommend this? Maybe--it depends on what you're looking for.

Nostalgia dictates that I give this a high score, and I did have a lot of fun re-watching this after so long. But for those watching this for the first time, what they might see is a slew of archetypes with conveniently placed plot points and an MC who barely makes sense.

Starting with our cast, if you can imagine a crybaby, clumsy, turn-the-other-cheek, too-naive-for-her-own-good, never-say-die Sakura Mikan (Gakuen Alice), you've got yourself Amano Ichigo. Comparing her to Manga! Mikan and Kurata Sana (Kodocha) would be a slap in the face, despite all ...

I have a huge amount of things to say about this anime.

In my opinion, most annoying main character EVER. And the storyline was just so unrealistic it bothered me.

First of all, how the hell does an amateur get into a high-end baker school. It's just not as simple as giving a good impression. It was unreal how Amano could become so skilled at baking so quickly. It just doesn't happen like that in real life.
Something that just PISSED me off about Ichigo was how she wasn't able to take any kind of criticism. For example (kind of a spoiler I guess) The episode ...
