Ghost Hound and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni is similar in terms of the psychological things it might give the viewer while watching it. Although Ghost Hound has a more complicated and professional way of showing and stating things, it is still similar with HNNKN in terms of boggling your mind.

Supernatural intrigue runs rampant in a small town when the borders between the spiritual and psychological become intertwined.

Lain and Ghost Hound are both from the same director and scriptwriter. Besides, both have the same dark atmosphere and play with the psychological during the story. If you like Lain, you'd probably like Ghost Hound as well.
report Recommended by Lain--
Both have: - Dark atmosphere with mystery related to supernatural events. - Main gang has unexpected powers related to their mind. - The setting is a small village and the main girl is related to a temple. - Spirits/ghosts.

both leave a little something wanting at the end, have very good art, good story lines, neither are scary in any way, decent charecter growth, both have a slight romanance going on the side..all in all both animes worth the watch XD

Both deal with a supernatural theme. muis although no similarity in the story, two animes are considered 'slow' by several people, you have to always be attentive to detail.
report Recommended by mahoutsunay
The kids in both anime use skills/technologies to have "souls" separated a while to go to alternative worlds (often in a condition of not being dead) that have creatures look black (ghosts/illegals).

Not sure if its truly right to compare something so early in its debut but Judging purely from episode 1 of Another, both series' share: - a similar eery atmosphere - psychological horror genre? - a dark mystery in need of uncovering - a similar look, use of music and mood - a main male protagonist who has had a death in the family

Same kind of horror-type theme, references to the "afterlife" etc. Also same character designer.

Erased is faster paced and not all the plot development is as justified as ghost hound. Both psychological mystery anime, both have similar looking MC, both do a good job at a similarly creepy and atmospheric feel.

RDG gives quite the spirit vibe which is also very nicely expressed in Hound. Both series give me such an intensity and both series are great.

Both very dark series that are psychological as well.

Zettai Shounen and Ghost Hound both have young teenagers dealing with supernatural occurrences (especially in relationship to the past) in isolated, small towns with beautiful scenery. Zettai Shounen does not have the same vibe of horror that Ghost Hound does, but it shares its air of mystery and the creepiness of the unknown.

Both anime deal with human awareness, ideas of existence, questions of reality and the nature of the universe.

Both shows deal with "life after death," sort of themes and the afterlife colliding with the normal world to form some disturbing results.

works have the same atmosphere, the story between reality and dream

Children dabbling in superstition, conspiracy, and pseudoscience. Occultic;Boob derives its mysticism from electronics, and Ghost Hound from neurology; both equally loaded with bullshit but probably easy enough to disregard if you know literally nothing about the topic. Maybe. Vapid but atmospheric. Have good visuals for the time they were made.

Great works from I.G Productions. Both have great animation and developed characters. Those are must-watch series if you like mystery, supernatural and sci-fi stories.

Ghost Hound is Ookami Kakushi done correctly. It has richer set of characters and maintains a stronger level of suspense throughout the series. If you enjoyed Ookami Kakushi's occult themes and suspense then you should watch Ghost Hound. If you watch Ookami Kakushi for the cute girl cutting people with sythes you might be a little disappointed in Ghost Hound. It has predominantly male protagonists. If you love Ghost Hound... wait a couple of weeks and then watch Ghost Hound again. Ookami Kakushi's predicable story line and flat characters will not hold your interest for long.

Natsume Yuujinchou gave me same feeling I felt while watching Ghost Hound. Even if the stories are quite different, they have this power to absorb you. Simply marvelous.

- Small town mystery feel - Jazzy music that doesn't quite fit but the contrast in turn makes it good - Superpowers with a history (backed by powerful pseudoscience) - Mysterious cult The cast of Ghost Hound is on average younger than Kokkoku but the chars in Kokkoku aren't exactly very well written adults so there's v little practical difference.

- both contain dark and disturbing aspects -both contain spirits of the dead - both are psychological - both are about the living and the dead (connecting) in a way -both contain deeper stories than at first revealed -both have a mystery that is unraveled throughout the series

Kids solving spoopy supernatural mysteries in a small town. High school in Trinity Soul and middle school is Ghost Hound. Psychobabble and creepy atmosphere.

- Consequences of artificial life - Mysterious air - Interaction of multiples organizations with different point of views - out-of-body experiences

These anime have a similar feel to them to me. Both have an odd disconnect between the protagonist and everyone else seeming to know more about what's going on.

Anohana: Imagine if "ghost hound"was light and set in summer instead of dark and psychological. Both focus on an MC trying to overcome the death of a childhood friend (in anohana) and his sister (in ghost hound).

- Psychological and Supernatural then Sagrada Reset. - Main gang has unexpected powers related to their mind. - Small town mystery feel - there's a mysterious tough and cold main character in both anime.

Both Mieruko-chan and Shinreigari merge into the concepts of the modern human world and spiritual world colliding. Although in Shinreigari there is no fanservice and it doesn't focus on the high school city life but it still gives you a similar feeling of adrenaline, despite the plot if Shinreigari taking place in a small town. A small warning though, they are from different decades and Shinreigari focuses more on the internal demons aspect and less on the supernatural horror of living amongst spirits. I believe both Anime will give you a similar feeling of a racing heart.

Both stories are about three boys who can turn into a supernatural creature. That's about all the similarity, because Ghost Hound doesn't have any of the comedy, gag, colours, or happiness Sarazanmai has.
report Recommended by Zonecommander26
Both are dark and psychological stories about young boys going by traumatic experiences.

Both are from acclaimed directors (Kaiba from Masaaki Yuasa and Ghost Hound from Ryutaro Nakamura) Both deal with existential themes and science fiction. Both have great and unique visuals, music and sound direction. Both have a great cast of characters.

Very different series in terms of genres, plot and story, (Danshi Koukousei is a comedy, whereas Ghost Hound is a mystery/thriller) but similar in the sense of there being a trio of boys doing stuff.

- MC are student in middle school. - MC are similar to girls, very similar in RKGOL and a little bit in SGH. - there's a mysterious tough and cold main character in both anime. - both contains Psychological atmosphere. - both contains students who trying to figure out mysteries.

Both series give off the same type of feel in terms of environment, music, and setting. Even though the place that it takes place is completely different, they give the same type of psychological, thriller, and supernatural feel. However, one is more focused on spirits and kids, the other is more josei and crime.

Both are kinda trippy shows that make you question your own perceptions of the world if you get involved enough. Slow pacing, initially confusing, and there is a lot of attention paid to the details of characters' subjective perceptions and experiences and how they overlap with those of others or not. Mayoiga has considerably stronger Action elements than Shinreigari. Shinreigari has a stronger real-life based theoretical grounding for its world building and I had a field day on Wikipedia because of many of the things said in the voiceovers for the episode previews. Both shows have many easter eggs and unspoken connections. Shinreigari has more  read more

If you're interested of soul traveling, dimensional entities, shamans and priest. you're gonna hooked by these two series. they have an interesting story. in noragami they focus on supernatural action while in ghost hound, they focus on dimensional traveling and spirits. enjoy!

Both shows explore the the philosophy and science of the human mind and consiousness.

The main characters stumble upon a supernatural alternate reality. In Otherside Picnic they confront urban legends that manifest as spirits and monsters. Ghost Hunt focuses on uncovering mysteries. Both follow younger characters who are curious. Each series deals with themes of grief and friendship.

They're different genres (comedy, horror) but they both focus a lot on the process of sake brewing. They also have a young man who can "see" creatures that people normally can't.

Both of these animes seem to have a lot of similarities. They basically both deal and have that mystery and investigation aspect.

Ghost Hound has nicer art, but if you like a good Japanese ghost story and like interactions with the spiritual be sure to check this out too!

Creepy, psychological, weird, complex, and interesting is what best describes both of these anime. Even if Kikumana is 6 minutes long and has no dialogue at all, & Ghost Hound is made of 22 episodes and has an actual plot, if you were intrigued by one you may like the other as well.
report Recommended by RenaPsychoKiller
Even if completely different in plot and atmosphere, both have a group of students interested in supernatural and not-ordinary things, and both anime are, in a way or another, about mystery and paranormal activities. Also, both series have a kuudere (Yuki/Miyako). But, above all, Itsuki & Masayuki are basically identical. :-P
report Recommended by RenaPsychoKiller
Both involve dark haired girls with strong spiritual senses, dams, rural settings, and supernatural creatures.
report Recommended by Archaeon
Both involve young people dealing with the supernatural world. Although the styles are very different, both shows include multiple themes regarding the supernatural. Oh, and both include a young girl who is easily possessed by supernatural beings.
report Recommended by Archaeon
The atmosphere of each series has a very similar feel to it. They both have slow pacing and a similar way of presenting the story. While Texhnolyze is much darker, Ghost Hound has a few light hearted moments but still retains a dark atmosphere. The story has some vague similaritities as they both take place in a town with conflicting groups but the main similarity is in the presentation of each of them; they're both very dark and slow-paced.
report Recommended by Danish
Battling against the supernatural evil, the protagonists of both series try to fight using their natural psychic abilities to win.

Young teens which have to do with supernatural things. In Kokoro Connect characters can rarely control their "powers", while in Ghost Hound they can often control the given powers. The shows play on characters feelings, their pasts, and the relationship among them, too.
report Recommended by Disillusion
Both series are surrounded by mystery with an eerie atmosphere throughout nearly every episode. It also seems that the setting in both series involves a village or at some point. Both series contain supernatural elements that are not seen in common day lives. These supernatural elements often consists of bizarre incidents dealing with the main characters from both series. Both series in general have a strange background with mysteries to be unlocked as each episode progresses.
report Recommended by Stark700
With the concept of mystery also comes horror and suspense among a small community. For Higurashi Outbreak and Ghost Hound, there exists a mysterious force that is causing terror among such a community. Covered with mysteries, both anime conveys a more psychological mood as well with the events going on. The characters strives to get through these events that puts lives at danger.
report Recommended by Stark700
Both take a step into psychological twists in relation to the supernatural. However, unlike Ghost Hound, Tactics is far more light-hearted. Though this series have a slight creep factor from time to time, it once again does not touch GH. However, there are a far number of likenesses (boy who sees things, ghostly entities, etcetera) for there to be a slight parallel drawn between the two.
report Recommended by radishleaf
Despite the differences in story and setting, there are lots of tonal similarities in these two shows. They are both quite serious and deal with mysteries of the human psyche. They are both psychological thrillers that like to keep you on the edge of your seat despite their slow pacing. While I would call Monster a masterpiece and Ghost Hound a flawed mystery, they are certainly both worth watching, especially if you liked the atmosphere in one.

Both deals with the dead and have mystery/horror/supernatural
report Recommended by blueunicorns
Both anime has similar art and atmosphere of mystery, though stories are different: Ghost hound has supernatural and Shion no Ou realistic plot. Both main characters has serious trauma from childhood and the story develops around that.
report Recommended by Getre
They are both psychological mysteries of one form or another. And both deal with individuals trying to find the truth behind a matter. The same somewhat dark underlying feeling is in both of the anime's. Although the story line's themselves are quite different.
report Recommended by Uncanny
Both shows focus on psychological aspects of the mind that lead to semi-paranormal events occurring. The main characters both have a bit of mental problems, although it's much more apparent with chaos;head.
report Recommended by Makicide
The stories are completely different but both anime have slow developing plots which get intense as the series progress. They both start out seemingly innocent and by the end you go "whoa!". There is also an underlying supernatural element to them which is not as overpowering as you might imagine. Watch them for the story.
