First, let me point out the fact that if you don't like crude humor, don't bother watching Suna Bouzu (Desert Punk). This anime is filled with perverted, ecchi, and all around hilariously funny jokes (which may or may not offend some people). Don't let the comedy be the deciding factor though, as this show has some great action scenes. Kanta seems like an original Joe Blow, and quite the idiot at times, but when the going gets tough, he pulls through with some miraculous skills and finesse.

The story lacks a little somewhat through the middle of the series, but picks up a lot towards the read more

This is my first review maybe you will agree with me, but everybody has their own opinions, i always wanted to make a review but i end up forgetting to do it everytime i watch an Anime. Here is my review about this flawed masterpiece.

Story
I liked the story because it reminded me of our society, people taking advantage of others, people helping others and end up being betrayed by them. The story was about this selfish, pervert, bad person Mizuno Kanta and you may or may not like him because of how he is, but he followed his own desicions, he is a mercenary that read more

Overview:

Its that time again! I review a shitty series that caused at least a few rage induced aneurysms. Today that series is Desert Punk!

Story: 1/10

The story is about a mercenary called the Desert Punk, who is a legend in the post apocalyptic wasteland of the future. The Punk goes on many random adventures and adopts an obnoxious little brat because he hopes that one day she will become a hot chick that he can bang! It is essentially a brainless, screwball comedy meets an echii ero series.

Charactes: 1/10

The only real character with development is the eponymous Desert Punk and he gets really old, really read more

Ahh, Desert Punk, this show is all about the nice surprises:) It is something you definitely shouldn't miss out on, despite the fact that it's kinda hard to get into at first.
First of all, let me tell you that I almost dropped this series.I watched the first 5-6 episodes and I stopped, because quite frankly I didn't think I could handle any more boob jokes. However, the other day, having nothing to do, I decided to finish the series.Much to my surprise, despite that the boob jokes did not diminish in numbers, the show started to grow on me, mostly because of the wonderful character development. Recipe:
Take 1 part Vash, 2 parts Wolfwood, and 6 parts short unattractive mega-pervert. Place in a desert oven set to 125° for 17-18 years and you get Kanta "Sunabouzu" Mizuno. Serve with large helpings of big bounties, boisterous badasses, and buxom babes and you get 24 episodes of action packed sexually frustrated hilarity known simply as "Desert Punk"

Watching these two series will feel like taking on an adventurous trip. In essence, they both chronicles the stories of a main male protagonist who is known for hunting various beings across their perspective worlds. The one thing they both have a weakness and love for is - women.

Throughout their adventure, they meet other characters that influences their lives in various ways. Yet on many said occasions, there are moments when our adventurers find their lives in danger.

Both series also takes place in a futuristic setting.

Humor focused though different types. Post apocalyptic. Same color for practically all characters even if the characters themselves are very different. Except maybe green.

Anime: Ashita no Joe
Kanta aka the Desert Punk and Yabuki Joe (especially in the beginning) have a lot of similarities. They are both selfish/self-absorbed. They both live in poor conditions but still manage to get by quite well. And they both have a young kid/s depending on them. And finally they are both naturally talented and skilled and fighting/tactics in the respective fields.

If you enjoyed one series because of the main character then I'd say you'd probably like the other. However their character development towards the end goes in opposite directions.
